Here’s a description of RSSB’s “soul contract.” It sounds decidedly creepy.

Below is another interesting message from the anonymous person who reaches me via the Contact form of this blog. As with the previous messages, this person shares their skeptical view of Radha Soami  Satsang Beas (RSSB), the India-based religious organization headed up by a guru that I belonged to for 35 years.

I also got a a short message from this person about why they won’t be sending me additional thoughts about RSSB. It bothers me that they feel this way. This isn’t the first time that I’ve heard from anonymous critics of RSSB and/or the guru who are afraid that RSSB will learn their identity and do something bad to them. It just seems really bizarre that a spiritual group claiming to be about love can feel so threatened by criticism that people like my anonymous correspondent fear for their safety.

Brian
Thanks for everything. It’s been a joy connecting and your post made me emotional too. We now have someone calling themselves “RS” in the comments asking questions about my identity/profile. I don’t think this is genuine or a good thing. I believe RSSB is on this blog and is trying to work out who I am. For my continued safety and protection, this is where it ends. TELL PEOPLE.

I’ve got a few additional messages from this person that I’ll be sharing. This is one of them. Since I was initiated into RSSB way back in 1971 by the previous guru, Charan Singh Grewal, I was surprised by how much the initiation process has changed under the direction of the current guru, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, who became the RSSB leader in 1990 when Charan Singh died.

The Soul Contract thing just seems really strange.

RSSB’s Soul Contract

Anonymous poster here. I wanted to shed some light on the RSSB process.

Before seeking initiation, you are told to keep the requirements. Vegetarian, no drugs, no alcohol, no sex before marriage, or loyalty to your spouse, do seva (selfless service or volunteer work at RSSB) and attend satsangs (services/sermons at RSSB).

Here’s what happens once you’ve asked for initiation.

INTERVIEWS ABOUT YOU: Prior to initiation you will be interviewed. This will be done by senior RSSB centre leaders. They will do this more than once. This can take hours. They will ask you everything about your life. They will also actively question you about your past and deeply personal things, including details before you came to RSSB and what you’ve done. They don’t tell you what they need this for, or why they need to know. They ask, want to know, and collect ‘dirt’ about you. If you don’t do this, you won’t get initiation.

‘ABOUT YOU’ DOCUMENT. You will be required to complete a lengthy written form. You have to give this to RSSB senior leaders in writing. They do not say why. They require full information about you. Your full government name, your contact details, your email, your phone number, your family relations/next of kin, your address, your photograph, and much more information. RSSB has all your information. If you don’t do this, you won’t get initiation.

‘SOUL CONTRACT’. You are then later given a document to sign. It is short and just one page long. This is a written document where you agree to be spiritually bound to RSSB forever which needs your signature. Essentially, you are ‘signing over your soul’ to RSSB. If you don’t sign it, you don’t get initiation. There was no mention of the Guru or RSSB doing anything for me ever at any point in that document – no promises. It was a one-sided spiritual soul agreement. This was quietly given to me the week before initiation, with a senior RSSB leader requiring signature immediately, standing over me. It was so quietly, unofficially, suddenly done.nYou are not allowed to tell anyone this, or take any of these documents outside RSSB. They have to be completed there and then. You are not allowed to show these to anyone else.

INITIATION: You are told not to tell anyone this. You are also told not to tell anyone what happens. It is all a secret. Initiated people cannot tell non-initiated people what happens. They cannot tell them about the initiation moment or ceremony. They cannot tell them the meditation. They cannot share their experiences. They cannot tell anyone what happens when they meditate. Nobody knows anything at all. Nobody is allowed to speak to each other about it. This also means, nobody can verify anything. (Nowadays – anyone with an internet connection can google the meditation they give you). (You can also Google the ex satsangis or maybe ask them in person quietly and they’ll all say the same thing – nothing happened).

Nobody told me about the soul contract. I was very happy to be initiated at the time. I can say this, looking back some of the worst things in my life happened to me after I signed RSSB’s ‘soul contract’. Absolutely objectively bad things kept happening to me, at times even terrifying and heinous things. My life went totally downhill. Things just never went my way. I genuinely believe I was under evil spiritual attack, targeted, cursed.

I knew something really bad was happening all around me. It wasn’t one or two unfortunate things which are a normal part of life. It was a constant pattern of awfulness – it was brutal – at one time I actually wondered if someone had a voodoo doll of me at one point. My life objectively got better when I left RSSB and renounced the soul contract. I personally believe there is something not right with this spiritual practice. I have also noticed repeated patterns/ cycles of misfortune with satsangis (especially initiates the most).

No other major religion or spiritual organisation makes people sign a soul contract. Please don’t sign your soul away. This isn’t love. There is no ‘soul contract’, in love. There is no ‘secrecy’ in love. People who love you and care about you, would never ask you to do this. People who care for your well-being, wouldn’t ask you to do this. Love is freedom. Love is choice. Love is kind. Love is easy.

Brian – I’m not sure if you ever went through this, but if not, things got a lot worse over time and hopefully this proves you were right to leave when you did. Keep speaking the TRUTH because it can never be buried.

Narcissists create “hoops for you to jump through” as a deliberate manipulation tactic to gain control, secure a constant source of validation (narcissistic supply), and maintain a false sense of superiority. The tasks are designed to be an endless, unfulfillable game to keep you perpetually seeking their approval.

Well, here”s what Guru Nanak taught 500 years ago.
But maybe he also was clueless and just making stuff up for some reason.
    Who knows?

    ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
    मनमुख अंधुले सोझी नाही ॥
    Manmukh anḋhule sojhee naahee.
    The ignorant mind-obeyers understand not.

    ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
    आवहि जाहि मरहि मरि जाही ॥
    Aavahi jaahi marėh mar jaahee.
They come, go and repeatedly die and die.

    इकि आवहि जावहि घरि वासु न पावहि ॥

Some come and go, and do not find the home in their own heart.

I have not left rssb meditation. I never signed up for two gurus at once. In fact I never signed up for Gurinder by himself. I signed up because of the attraction of Charan Singh and I continue the ancient method of meditation to this day rather successfully. I just like the formless better than the forms.

      • Um

        @ Ronald

What do you mean with “acient”? The method as it was taught under MCS>

        • Ronald

Ancient Origins: Practices involving inner sound meditation have roots in ancient philosophical and religious texts, including the Indian Vedas and Upanishads, which are among the world’s oldest scriptures

What do you mean by this? A truth seeker is manmukh?

One narcissist admires another due to initial attraction to shared traits like charm, confidence, and success, creating a mutual recognition of their grandiose self-image, but this often devolves as they both seek primary supply, leading to volatility, though they might tolerate each other’s narcissistic traits better than non-narcissists because of perceived similarity.
    Reasons for Mutual Admiration:
Shared Grandiosity: Both narcissists see themselves reflected in the other’s inflated sense of self, charm, and external achievements, forming an initial bond.
“Like Attracts Like”: Narcissists recognize and are drawn to similar self-centered qualities, finding them less objectionable and more understandable in others of their kind.
Superficial Connection: They connect over shared superficial traits and grand fantasies, creating an initial sense of understanding and excitement, notes Psychology Today.

If anyone here read this. You can break it by declaring out loud “I BREAK ALL AGREEMENTS MADE OVER MY SOUL” as a minimum. If it feels right add “AND I RETURN MY SOUL TO GOD”. You have to say it and really mean it with your entire being, every cell in your body, mind, heart, spirit – when you are really done.

You can always go back to RSSB if you want.

      • RS

        You are clearly quite self-delusional.

Once again, no actual dirt to publish, so let’s make stuff up and present that on our tabloid. I’ve read posts by many dissaffected ex-RSSB satsangis, and not one has mentioned a contract where one is bound to be a satsangi forever, or that RSSB “collects dirt” on its members.

If anyone wants to make a counterargument to that, they can, e.g, that initiation is a technique of mind control leverage at the satsangi’s expense, etc. Go ahead and make that argument, but it doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter because you were an adult, you knew every RSSB rule, you knew the theological meaning of RSSB initiation (including not talking about experiences and not sharing the meditation method). And yet you got initiation anyway.

You knew it all, you were an adult, and yet you joined RSSB anyway.

So stop playing the victim. You’re not a social justice hero. You’re just a guy who refuses to take responsibility for your own actions.

    @ Sant 64

I have tried it several times, probably in vain, but the whole explanation is to be found in the narrative itself.

The narrative teaches that, like with the Israelites in old days, thew individual satsangi is chosen by God himself and that is why the parable of the cheep, the sheppard, the stable and the owner is used.

Personal I know of some satsangi’s that approached MCS to be released from their vow / and or was asked to leave their aura, where his astral image was located after initiation.

In all the cases I know of the answer was that such a thing could not be done as the contract was signed by two parties and it cannot be undone uni-lateral …moreover … and that is the more important part was the addition that the Sheppard had an obligation not to the sheep but to the owner of the sheep and he, had just to do his duty.

There are so many other parables and tales that were used by MCS with the same gist.

That said .. it depends on each and every follower of him, to attribute value and meaning to what he said and deal with it accordingly.

So yes, the narrative, can become a millstone around ones neck

I parted from my Christian backgrounds when young and it took me a year of two, three to get over it … all practices, have in some way, more or les hidden, the message for the practitioner, if you leave, you do it at your own cost and that cost can be more than you imagine … even in ZEN schools.

In tragic situations as this, perhaps it would be wise to take a multiple points of view perspective, since the intentional stance of each may differ than what we as outsiders may see from our 3rd person detached perspective. A horrible situation gone awry and it may well be that each believed they were reacting without intending the consequences that prevailed…. much of life is like this and too often ends terribly.

    SOUL CULTRACT

The whole lineage of this Radha Soami Cult right from the beginning with the founder Baba Jaimal Singh who started this Nasty Cult he had some very low and shallow intentions.

He was a well known Womaniser with 2 women at a time who use to stay with him at his home eventually he was thrown out by the Agra Radha Soami where he use to go and listen to Satsang because of his dirty moral grounds. This religious extremist cult is something that one shouldn’t even think of following in his right mind.

The path of the deciteful masters ends up straight in hell.
As Gurinder Singh Dhillion takes the lead now, he’s shown the world what was hidden all time.

Deceptive Dhillion follows in Jaimals footsteps with the same dirty intentions.

And now we have Jassdeep another creep looking baba who intentionally lies through his teeth for a honest living.

This soul contract isn’t with this Cult Radha Soami baba but the hidden truth of this cult is the baba who initiates the soul to the Devil (Kaal) and as with other soul contracts in this world of the devil, your soul now is his in hell forever once you leave this hell hole.

Soul contracts as we all known are an evil in alot of entertainment industries and this is what every Satsangi is doing at the time of initiation and in this case you get fack all too.

I know many a persons who have left this shite hole of a cult and are living happy meaning full lives now .

Don’t sell out to these so called creepy fraudulent bent baba of beas and put your faith in God alone only he can help us

  9. Kranvir

The soul ‘CON’ tract is nothing but to con you. It is to fool the innocent to give up your precious soul for absolutly nothing, a false promise, to an evil nasty entity, kaal, who is hidden and disguised in many devious forms. In this case this form is in the RSSB institution headed by a bent crooked baba, gurinder singh dhillon and jasdeep ( dumb and dumber) who have evil intentions with carefully manufactured fronts. The evidence is clearly shown in the exhibit in Brian’s article. This article says your life gets worse, your own family members turn against you, life becomes difficult – yet shouldn’t it be better if gurinder was god lol ?. This is nothing but evil entity attachments doing the job of their lord and master , kaal. This critters come with the contracts you sign and bully you and manipulate you as you have sold your soul just like Hollywood stars often say they sold their soul to the devil. Gurinder, tame your dogs , because you are gonna get a whooping from god. Karma will be served. There’s no where to hide

  10. Ex-initiate

You know the 10 gurus in Sikhism never asked anyone their age their names their occupation before giving them gyan they would go village to village sir under a tree and start preaching and whoever wants to take the naam from them can sit in their sangat and no one would be rejected even a child is also a guru in Sikhism moreover even you accept them after 5 round of interviews just to give those 5 naams and I have seen the sangat who has been initiated and doesn’t sit for meditation for years so that’s just another way of fooling the people because if gurinder will give the naam to everybody then how will they survive it’s dera and it’s illegal workings because by forcefully making the people listen 5+ satsangs , read books they are just trapping them in their rabbit hole. more secrecy more sangat more funds

    • Um

      Ex-Initiate

I Suppose you know the history of Sikhism, its birth with Guru Nanak, its growth under successive [family] guru’s even an child and how the succession and development ended with the 10th Guru\s declaration that there would be no guru and the community should direct itself to the ADI Granth for religious and spiritual teachings.

WHAT … does the granth say about how the followers have to live?~

Does the granth, being the words of Gur Nanak, his successors and the many Saints that are quated in the book, speak about meditation???

      Do the common Sikhs meditate??

Just ask yourself these simple questions, ask your self whether the Sikhs of to day do live up to the teachings as elaborated described in the Adi Granth Sahib and if not ask you self how that change came about during the succession of 10 guru’s.

      What do they DO daily???

Is there a difference between the believers, the lay people, in the other major religions in the world, going to their religious buildings as there are synagoges, temples, churches, and participate in the service by an appointed clergy person?

Were not all founders of these religions in one way or another teaching that God was to be found INSIDE themselves, and teaching a kind of meditation or other practice to that end?

SO ..ask yourself do the lay people of any major religion live up to the teachings of their founder or not and satisfy themselves with rituals and ceremonies and this or that sort charitable activity for, in or on behalve of the community.?

In every religion as there is to day the lay people have done whatever they could to make the teachers change their teachings according their wishes?

What are these wishes …that there is something towards to pray for help and having an excuse not to do anything themselves …. they all go to a service in a temple, Mosque, church etc to PRAY for their welfare of them selves, the near and dear and the world at large, here on earth.

Welfare here on earth ..was THAT what their founders were talking about?

Against this background you can easily make up your mind as to what is going on with yet another branch of Sant Mat.

Many others will be born grow and die out eventual, Sant mat is like a tree

It is the community, the people, that deludes the original teachings, water it down, so that in the end nothing or the original is left…and even great teachers, saints etc are not able to stop this movement ..birth, growth and death of any teaching.

Let me end with just a personal conclusion:
The average so called religious person, even those so called orthodox, able to kill and be killed, for their identity as an genuine believer in … are not at all interested in any God .. not at all.

That is all right .. not all are called to climb the mount everest
