Open Thread 25 (free speech for comments)

Here's a new Open Thread.

I appreciate that off-topic comments have been going in a previous Open Thread. As noted before, it's good to have comments in a regular blog post related to its subject, and it's also good to have a place where almost anything goes in regard to sharing ideas, feelings, experiences, and such. That place is an Open Thread.

Leave a comment on this post about anything you want to talk about. Remember that I'm moderating comments, so it could take a while for your comment to be published. Almost every comment submitted to an Open Thread will be approved. Personal attacks on someone are an exception. Argue with ideas, not insults.

Though I haven't been doing too well on this, I'll try to remember to always have an Open Thread showing in the Recent Posts section in the right sidebar. If one isn't showing, I've added an Open Threads category in, naturally, the Categories section. You can always find an Open Thread that way.

So if you're a believer in some form of religion, mysticism, or spirituality, this is where you can put your "praise God," "praise Guru," or "praise _______" comments.

Since people start insulting my Master CharanJi MaharaJI
concerning the so called “divine law”
of not accepting an income or compensation or useful help ( like a car or a plane)
Where is that written the first time? –
How could that function these days?

Seeing this wasn’t published in the thread it was posted here it is in open discussion in answer to RSSB I’m Finished with you (Oshkosh Robbins)
Nope (Osho) – RSSB is Finished
    I don’t see cracks
I see mauj transpiring, history explicitly being fulfilled (hukum – mauj – the will as it is deemed fit in circumstance)
    History is full of it
As Huzur Charan Grewal had to adapt and adopt the will of his own masters wishes to undertake the responsibility of Soami Ji’s and Jaimal Singh’s patronage shepherding their santmat, so did Gurinder have to do likewise.
As did those succumbed to Ceasars and Emperors and societal laws and judgment through the annals of history.
As Arjan’s execution by emperor Jahangir for refusal to bow to Muslim indoctrination – (blasphemy)
As Christ’s crucifixion by religious leaders for non renunciation of proclamation that he was embodiment of Godhood. (blasphemy)
As Mansur’s imprisonment torture and execution by religious ruling classes of Baghdad for announcement he was embodiment of the Truth. (blasphemy)
As Sarmad was beheaded by Aurungzeb for non recital of full Muslim Kalma and for sitting on Delhi Palace court steps entirely naked. (blasphemy)
And as Gurinder being slandered, castigated and maligned by the know it all intelligentsia of the CotC klux klan, along with some his own family members, is tantamount to recognize that Gurinder, like Socrates, Christ, Mansur, Sarmad, and many others before him, don’t give two hoots about society’s so called moralistic indignation.
He will do what it takes as deemed fit to fulfill the will of history’s injunction is it’s playing out its cause.
Because like those who have traveled beyond the constraints of intellectualized reasoning know how it cuts whenever it’s required to separate wheat from chaff,
Such is the will that true saints adopt and fulfill their participation in its unrelenting exacting condition.

    @777
You can’t be more wrong. A Jim and Lane have already invested a few million bucks transforming some grounds in California into satsang venues at which all rich Indians who can afford air tickets and hotel cost will attend plus setting up the tech to broadcast.
Already I hear airlines are ramping up their websites lest it crashes due to heavy bookings. LoL
The interest in India is gonna be huge man…. A white skinned supposedly multi talented yet mimic Guru would still be unique – maybe you haven’t seen how Indians line up to observe anything and everything which they can laugh at.

  5. Jesse

What 777 seems not to understand is that hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of people have already left RSSB or were never truly part of it anyway.
Tons of people will take “initiation” or naamdaan as they call it, and then forget that it ever happened, never go to a satsang again and likely go back to the religion of their ancestors. RS keeps those numbers of ex RS on the books because there is no way to formally leave, and I’ve heard some speculation that their records include the dead going back a very long time. Again, no way to report deaths to the Org or the number of apostates, so none of their numbers mean anything.
On top of that, you have an entire generation of kids who were pressured by their family to join but who never believed in the first place. Westerners approach RS in a completely different way and don’t really see it as a communal thing, but that’s not so in India where being an RS initiate or in a RS family is almost like belonging to a caste at this point. They hire each other, marry each other and everything else.
Speaking of that, a cab driver for RS foreigners tried to get me to marry his niece once just cause i was initiated, but I’m not Indian so her brothers wouldn’t allow it (OMG RACISM. I thought only white people were racist???).
She was incredibly beautiful and I probably should have secretly eloped with her and all that but it’s too late now. I’m old and married. She’s probably 200kg at this point after having kids and gorging on buttery parathas for the past 15 years. Come to think of it, I’m glad her brothers were racist satsangis. Probably saved me from serious disappointment.

“Show your source where Gurinder Singh ever called himself ‘God’.”
Whodunit, The entire Science of the Soul Research Center book catalog should suffice.
If he has accepted the title and position of “master” who “initiates” “satsangis” into “surat shabd yoga” then he is calling himself god. Period. Full stop. Bas.
If the organization he is in 100% control of uses his photo and under that photo is the caption “current living master” and he doesn’t force them to stop, then he is calling himself god.
Unless he publishes a new book, and not supposedly gives a satsang to a handful of westerners, that says “I truly and unambiguously am not a master. Do not call me “master” and do not follow me, because I am leaving this organization”, and then he asks that his own book publishers and photo printers stop using his likeness, and stop calling him “master”, then he is still accepting the title of living god.
Why do the same things have to be repeated so often? This is not integral math. It’s basic reasoning.
Imagine Tim Cook showing up to work one day and learning that Apple corporation is being sued because he stole a billion in cash, and when presented with a subpoena he replies “I have never once in my life called myself the CEO. Sorry bros, not coming to court lol. But I’m still in charge of the company by the way.” That would almost be as stupid and absurd as being a satasangi or being Gurinder.
But stop with the dumb games now, whodunit. You know what the teachings are and you know the role, title and everything else this man willingly accepts. If he wasn’t a god, he should have refused to accept the role of living god. He wasn’t ignorant of what he was doing.
He’ll burn in eternal hell for this mistake he made anyway. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!! SEE YOU IN HELL BABA JI!!!
    J/k.
Seriously though, if there is some such place as hell, not only will Gurinder be there burning, but Manjit will be super sad that his intellectual arrogance didn’t allow him to acknowledge the possibility of it, and his failure to prepare and be honest about what he really knows will haunt him FOREVER. But I won’t be able to really mock him at that point, cause I’ll be burning in hell, too. With all of you.

  12. Spence Tepper

    Hi 777
    Let’s ask the right questions.
If stolen millions should be siphoned to a charity, can they no longer be reclaimed by the victims they were stolen from, under Indian law?
Ie, can any amount become untouchable by law if the stolen money is siphoned by a chain of individuals to a charity?
Is charitable donation in India a legally protected haven for stolen money?
And does it protect all the hands that moved that stolen money from criminal prosecution ?
And if the destination of stolen money is a charity, do the victims whose money was stolen have no further recourse for justice?

  13. 🇫🇷

    Spence
    So, You don’t know
I asked for religious ends , not charity
Those might be different in India
That is because so many temples and mosques in India
and the general mentality and reactions are so different
We were in Kashmir where they have one hair of the prophet in a Mosque
Next day there was something in Israel and in the Shrinagar newspaper
Then Children , Young as 8 / 12 started throwing stones at us
and we had to be protected by police
There are often kind of curfews because of temple issues everywhere
It’s way different than we can understand
    or discuss
Perhaps a real Indian can answer my 2 questions
    77
    BTW
YFor a big writer here it was an amazement you avoided my second question even when it’s SOOO EASY
    “Anybody tells me nothing !!! . . .”

    Hi 777
    You asked
    “A second question :

“Then he, the first buyer is informed by a dubious whistleblower

” Which court worldwide would arbiter for granting half that dollar.
If the claim of pesticide is true, and your records hid this fact, you will owe far more than the price of an apple.
And the one who bought your apple cart and must now pay your fine has every right to demand you pay it.
The FDA Ranbaxy fine is the largest fine in the entire history of the United States food and drug administration. It is absolutely appropriate for Daiichi to demand that the prior owners who created this violation of tainted meds and covered it up by falsification of documents, pay the fines and any additional legal expenses.

  15. there is not a single document mentioning it as a donation,
neither from Singh brothers, nor from Dhillon family.
The Singh brothers claimed in court as loan (not sure what is written in the books of accounts),
whereas if we track back the 2013 letter Babaji wrote,
it’s evident that it was some collateral residing with Singh brothers,
and they didn’t return it back to Babaji, and in lieu of that they returned this money.
If Dhillon family has submitted in legal writing to the court that they DON’t owe anything
to the Singh brothers or Religare,
then it Means something, it’s not a fluke.
If you are keeping trust on the High court, then wait for the verdict,
    don’t hurry, be patient.

Yes there is some tax relief one gets (a ceiling or 50% of amount donated whichever is less) for qualifying donations – can be for religious purposes or otherwise too.
Claiming back gifts – a gift deed (if executed) is irrevocable unless the deed is executed by illegal coercion. Even then courts have to be approached which then cancels it if coercion is proved.
Else post deed, donee is absolute owner. This is also for all acknowledged cash donations.
But what’s your point here? Does a scenario where the Singh crooks allege that they cash donated xxx crores (unacknowledged donations like how large number of ordinary sangat does ) worry you? I don’t put it past the Singhs using this trick as well.
BTW did innocent charities have to repay their Madoff money?

    A song I like…
    https://youtu.be/sEjmJ1Ge00U
    Lyrics:
Sister can you hear me now
    The ringing in your ears
    I’m down on the ground
My luck’s been dry for years
    I’m lost in the dark
And I feel like a dinosaur
    Broken face and broken hands
    I’m a broken man
    I’ve hit the wall
    I’m about to fall
But I’m closing in on it
    I feel so weak
    On a losing streak
Watch my taillights fade to black
I read a thing about this girl
She was a hermit in her world
Her story was much like mine
    She could be my valentine
    And although we’ve never met
    I won’t forget her yet
She cut herself off from her past
    Now she’s alone at last
    I feel so sick
    Lost love’s last licks
But I’m closing down on it
    I feel so weak
    On a losing streak
Watch my taillights fade to black
Lost my life in cheap wine
    Now it’s quiet time
    Cappy Dick nor Jesus Christ
    Could not help my fate
    But I’m underneath a gun
    I’m singing about my past
    Had myself a wonderful thing
But I could not make it last
    I’ve hit the wall
    I’m about to fall
But I’m closing in on it
    I feel so small
    Underneath it all
Watch my taillights fade to black
    Watch my taillights fade
    Watch my taillights fade
    Watch my taillights fade

“A true Master doesn’t allow you to bow.”
“The Lord serves us all silently.”
These plus all the other choice quotes are just “subjective experiences” right? Your subjective experience tells you that godmen are all one way or another, and it happens to be opposite to this other guys subjective experiences that shows his that, indeed, all godmen are as described in their own books and thousands of years of recorded history. Who should we believe? I choose none of you.
“Two ladies with scarves on their heads and Holy prayer beads bowed before him in holy reverence. As he passed by he said, ‘ladies, knock it off.'”
This didn’t happen. There is a picture book of him being bowed to and worshiped by tens of thousands of people. In that same book there is a picture of a family member, Gurinder I believe, touching his feet. He gave “satsangs” constantly with the subject being how best to worship him. He ran an organization dedicated to worshiping him. He sat behind a weird cage and allowed people to bow to him, and bring items for him to bless with his magical touch.
In India, it’s totally normal to bow to and literally worship almost any human being. They don’t even need to be a guru. Walk around Amritsar sometime and you’ll see kids touching the feed and folding their hands in front of a friend’s grandpa. I saw it like a hundred times. They use the expressions like “guest is God” and “we worship our elders” constantly. Anyone who assumes the role of guru accepts that it’s their job to be bowed to and worshiped. Even if they didn’t like it, they wouldn’t tell anyone to stop because it’d be rude.
To say that Charan Singh went against this idea of bowing to gurus is absolutely absurd and the pile of evidence, being RSSB publications and the entire concept of gurudom and satsangs, is more than enough proof.

    “Who should we believe?”
Really, you lost me after that, since you don’t believe anyone. You are not a believer Jesse. It’s not your strength. Go with cynic. You add value doing what you do well. When you ask the question I already know it’s rhetorical.
    You wrote

No Jesse, it did happen. The women were Westerners. Their obescience wasn’t sincere.
For those who have nothing else to give but their bow, that is sincere. If that is all they can give, it is to be respected with high honor.
But I’m with you that it isn’t brotherhood. We should all be standing side by side.
And yet you don’t believe in brotherhood either.
You like boarder walls, and believe different folks from different cultures shouldn’t try to work together; they should stay separate. You believe that a caste system is already part of our nature, in the evolutionary survival – of – the – fittest, and the bully should be acknowledged and respected; that we should not give refuge to indigent and injured foreigners; and that slavery should never have been outlawed, if I understand you correctly, or at least only babies of undocumented parents should be imprisoned..
Maharaji also said on the tapes,” Sister don’t put me up on a pedestal. I’m just like you… If it were up to me I’d be in the audience with you.”
That’s what we should try to live. That’s the higher truth. And the real Masters are in fact among the others in the audience.
So at different times, and for different people, different expressions.
Some people need a King to believe in God.
But they just become little kings instead of brothers and sisters, so it’s not a great model.
No true Saint takes any authority at all. They are entirely clean of any of this.
‘no one should be called Teacher for you have one teacher and you are all brothers and sisters’

  23. Um

    @ 777
Those who have inner experiences, given or forced upon the brain by this or that technique or drug, cannot but be overwhelmed by what they experience.
Others who don’t have these experiences, have nothing that can be compared with what these people experience. For them it is all hearsay the like of a person relating his dream or nightmare. Among them some are gifted with faith that might compensate the lack of experience to a certain extend.
Yes I do believe that the prophet had an experience in which the angel Gabriel appeared and spoke to him. Whether there IS and angel gabriel is not proven by this experience although one can easily understand that it must have a prove to the prophet,
The lord, if there is one could easily have spoken to the rest of the world and tell them to believe what the prophet had to say. As the lord didn’t do so and nobody else was witness of that experience of the prophet what we have is just his word!!

Yet he had the choice, and didn’t make it. Nobody held a gun to his head and forced him to be a rich guru who had a slave just to carry his massive amount of unnecessary camera equipment around, yet that’s the life he chose.
“No true Saint takes any authority at all. They are entirely clean of any of this. ”
Again with that subjective angle that somehow isn’t subjective at all.

  27. Jesse

” at least only babies of undocumented parents should be imprisoned.. ”
I’ve told you that the things I support are strictly because the reduce human suffering. You on the other hand support human traffickers and foreign wars as long as they inflate your already bulbous head that is like a hot air balloon full of ego.
You’re also a zionist who literally supports killing as many Arabs as possible to protect your sacred bloodline.
Never talk about morals or anything ever again. You’re not qualified.

  28. Jesse

“The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, said Wednesday that “Europe belongs to the Europeans” and that refugees should return to their native countries to rebuild them.”
Yes, the Dalai Lama, someone who first hand suffered from being forced to flee his country thinks that people ultimately have the right to their own homelands, and that refugees should go home and rebuild their own country. WHAT A FUCKING HATEFUL NAZI! Amirite?
It’s funny how the people who most push for wars and forcing people to migrate around the world in pain and misery are zionists, and pedophile human traffickers. There’s a lot of overlap between those two that doesn’t get enough press.
Not making accusations that anyone commenting here is a pedo, just pointing out that they’re some of the main benefactors of destroying entire civilizations and making the citizens flee… into their perverted arms. It’s actually a biblical thing. Moses was told to mercilessly kill everyone except the women and kids, and then grab them up and use them as sex slaves. Great religion.
Ask yourself why you’d want to economically and militarily attack others and make them leave their home and become stateless refugees. What good natured person wants that? How do you justify these sorts of evils if you yourself are not evil?
Listen to the Dalai Lama, folks.

  29. Spence Tepper

Jesse, people should live where they wish to live. Where you are born means nothing. Where you chose to go, what you make of yourself is everything. No one should stand in your way. Everone should help you to be the best you that you can, so that you find your source of happiness, and take your place in humanity as a contributor wherever you feel right doing so. You are under no obligation to take the burdens of your community, your past leaders or their lousy decisions. Live where you wish to live.

  30. Spence Tepper

    Hi Um
    You quoted me….
“‘no one should be called Teacher for you have one teacher and you are all brothers and sisters’
    Then you commented…
” It all depends whom says it to whom, when and why.
As such this sentence is empty of any meaning or whatever.”
Yes, the context. Jesus told his disciples that none should be higher than the others, that they should take no authority. This was after he had washed their feet, before his Crucifixion.
He wouldn’t allow them to bow before him. Instead he kneeled low before them, he took off their sandels and washed the dirt from their feet with his bare hands. He was serving them.
    This is filled with meaning.
Every successful teacher, parent or leader understands their entire job rests with serving their children, their students, their employees. The more perfectly they do this, the better their children, students and employees develop, and their efforts raise everyone.
But I understand how foreign this is to many people. Humanity survives because in every corner of the globe, there are enough who put themselves beneath their purpose to serve. Their nature is such that this is how they find their most effective work, and their happiness. Not in being great. But in helping silently and invisibly many others to be great.
You can find strains of this philosophy in Sant Mat, but it is greatly diluted and corrupted with the caste system of kings and slaves that is part of RSSB today.

No. I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this. My parents left Judaism because they were not zionists.I’ve been taught all my life that the true Holy Mountain of Israel is within, and not any real estate on this earth. And that no land is worth shedding blood over, ever. That’s how I was raised. Real estate, physical material wealth is antithetical to and burdensome to spiritual wealth.
You continue to depict my beliefs falsely. But still I like the energy and humor of your rant. But I like it better when you hit your target. When you do, occasionally, it’s like a lightening bolt and on occasion I burst into laughter. On another occasion it was so poignant I burst into tears. So keep going. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. And when you are that clock, it is truly amazing.

Jim Sutherland, the problem we face is that nobody is willing to use weapons to defend their rights. America has all the weapons but none of the will. If anyone had balls we wouldn’t need weapons anyway. Our entire government would have been deported decades ago.
Communists are arming themselves now as we’ve seen with those armed marches in Texas where everyone was wearing hammer and sickle masks.
I’d guess the armaments are unevenly distributed with the sad loose collective of old Americans we call conservatives having more, but those communists have state protection and won’t be fighting alone.
They’re currently trying to limit what we say and there have been numerous arrests in recent weeks for people saying mean words. Our resident Jewish Supremacist and goyim hater Dungeness believes we should have our doors kicked down by SWAT teams and thrown in jail if we offend her, and so far her team is winning. That’s the future. SWAT teams protecting the feelings of Soviets.

@Jessie,…Who’s side do you think the Police is on? What about the National Guard, i.e. . Military, if the protests get like there are in Hong Kong and Lebanon , and even Egypt? Will they back Trump, or the Libtards! A recent Poll reports that 7 out of 10 polled think we are on the Verge of a Civil War. If your leaving the country, where are you going that’s safe, and friendly to Americans? I have traveled 75 other countries since Aug. 2012, and think we still have the best of the best, right here in the good ole USA, which is worth joining the Deplorable’s when the Zombies start policing the streets. The Cops love the fact that Conservatives are armed. Libtards hate the Cops and Military, as well. Most of them hope all of us old White Male Americans will either die soon, and if not, they will help to exterminate us. Old White American Atheist males will not be exempt from extermination, when the Libtard Zombies hit the streets with their Black face masks swinging base ball bats while ducking and dodging bullets fired by the Armed Conservatives. They’re mercenaries. They work for whoever pays them.
Look at Portland Oregon where you can watch videos of what would convict most people of attempted murder, and later learn that the victims were arrested and the perpetrators were let go.
Happens all over the country routinely and regularly and the pattern is as clear as day. Left wing activists do not face similar charges for the same crimes as others. How many hundreds of assault charges against Trump supporter charges were dropped? Again you can watch videos of this stuff and read the local news.
Police are not your friend. The military will be turned against the citizenry. This place is toast. The same people who mercilessly slaughtered my ancestors and faced no punishment are doing the same exact things here and they’re laughing about it.

Jessie,….I agree with you, …unfortunately. It is now escalating real fast. But the coming Civil war won’t be just the Left against the Right, and Vice Versa. Mercenaries from other countries will be recruited and paid by both sides, same as is presently happening in Hong Kong. In the last Civil War, i.e.. Northern invasion of the South, the South might have won that War, had France sent their Mercenaries, to help the Rebels, as almost happened. It’s gonna be real nasty. But I am on my way out at my age, so unlike you, I don’t have much long term skin left in the Game. I hate to see my Social Security that I, and my past Employers paid In to the program from 1958 to 2011 when I retired dry up, and be used to fund illegals, as Democrats prefer to do, so they can expand their Votes and continue the Careers of sucking the Tax Paying worker slaves dry. Trump keeps saying how great the Military is, but all of the Generals are stabbing him in the back. Unless Trump has Aliens backing him, or Puppet Masters we don’t know about, the Neocons will soon have him in shackles. He has no friends even as RINOS. Of the 75 Countries I have explored, since 2012, if I ever decide to leave the U.S. after the Democrats get back in power, and the U.S. goes Bankrupt because of continued unbridled Migration of illegal invaders, Geneva, Switzerland will be my choice, if I escape. An apartment near Geneva Lake will be a pretty good safe Zone, for America’s that can affirm to escape there.

History. It’s mixed. Halcyon days, and days of darkness. And often at the same time. Two separate volumes by two different authors covering much the same periods. These are open log books, so many pages filled with the past and many empty pages for this very hour and the future. Pick the one you will write in. Make your small contribution.

“My Day Job Career Bio was published by Marquet’s “ Who’s Who In The West”, 1992 Edition”
    Hi new Jim 4me
That ‘s a whole new perspective after you playing on youtube
I’m touch of a complete zero and relativily a what they call a manmukh to compare
    your life story with Gurinder.
The only thing about him via 2 old Ladies in Malaga telling he (before) did the taxi seva of
bringing them to the location weekly : they had to say :
“Gurinder please turn the pop music not so loud”
    I liked that
Also that his other seva was cleaning the Satsang floor
Juan here probably will confirm and might add some nice words
    Further I and my Lady
have seen HIM in different “radiant” forms
    There ar I guess innumerable
but I can now recall 5 radiant forms
There is the strong perception that HE is around you
which happens ONLY if your “you” can handle that
Long ago with Charan I couldn’t , mostly because I felt so filthy compared !
In that case he goes smilingly absent!
A pity because just filthy. – you need HIM most
    2)
There is this radiant exposition while you see HIM as a neon lamp
which is the best way to explain because of the fluerece aspect around
This is also the form HE uses at the end of somebody’s physical life
I forget to tell that he is c.q. seems 3 up to 5 meter High with that transparant light
My wife saw ( better : experienced ) that from Charan when her Mother (initiated) died
that light was all around her from head to feet
    So special
At that occasion, myself – a day earlier, I ‘saw’ a very important piece
of her former life in the Elzas province here in France
The reason and connection of why she had certain
misfortunes in her that actual life
    It was so enlightening
    3)
There is the radiant way ( Charan) I got to see in Wiesbaden Germany
which nobody can believe until you have it
Fluid diamonds stream from HIS forehead 360°x360°
which , when it touched another , . . that person changed in transparant GOLD
While it happened, my consciousness was withdrawn up to the eye center ( not higher!)
but another consciousness in me was able to have a thorough conversation
with an American guest , living in Frankfurt, I had asked to join Satsang
It was if I was 2 persons then
I have never seen this from Gurinder
    although the 1)-form above
we had seen from Charan too when we were in a wrong Taxi and HE in another taxi, suddenly drove at our left
and I said to our driver “follow that car” and so with the lesser neon light he guided us to the Delhi main station
Our taxi driver was on his way to the wrong station !!
    4)
There is quite another radiant form
with strange caractaristics I saw when in Delhi Satsang
and the Master during a severe rain flood/storm, . .
HE was changing in a Lion Face, roaring
and I told that here years ago
4 Lion Faces in 4 directions – And the rain of 70 cm outside
was absolutely NOT on Satsang ground
There must be many Indian Satsangis who can confirm
    5)
There is what can happen in meditation. :
a kind of mixture of what I told
and always somewhat else and I think per satsangi completely different
But it is inside and you are between the 6th and the 7th chakra
Thoughts are still active but in an other time-frame
    this cannot be understood
    It makes one cry
    6)
    Higher UP
I wanted to tell about that also, . . when thoughts are away
    but the Master(s) say
    I shouldn’t
So I leave that by saying ; SOUND & LIGHT making a Big Bang a tiny thing
but what I m permitted to repeat :
    THE DISCIPLE BECOMES THE MASTER
    Literally
    The DOER of EVERYTHING

    U.S. of A
Is a great country – and an economic miracle – no other country comes remotely close to sheer production efficiency and wealth generation per capita.
But I don’t care so much about that – I like the shoot em up westerns of John Wayne.
BUT it’s a nation of immigrants – probably it’s greatest strength in my opinion – none of the baggage of the old world – yet ain’t it strange how often it’s the immigrants who often most despise (or are fearful of) the next wave of immigrants – human nature is fkd in the head. Too many conspiracy theories. Oh it were better in my day it were – nonsense it’s never been better.

    Hi Jesse
I wasn’t completely forthcoming in my reply above.
The two books are already written. Actually millions. But there are two camps, dark and light. We are each reading the book of our choice and as we read the words, then automatically we think we are actually seeing and hearing for the first time. But we are just reading the script and our mind is doing the rest. So, you pick which book to read from.

  66. Georgy ‘the Duke’ Porgy

It is my opinion. I’ve not heard any such slogan before. It’s a fact. You are a nation of immigrants. Where does your grandpappy come from?
You sure as hell ain’t descended from Comanche tribe – maybe Big Dopey Yanki tribe.

Can someone help me with that adage?
    It’s hard to remember.
“Truth refuses to honor extradition treaties because “it ain’t pedophiliac rape if she ain’t one of ours.”
    Sounds off.
“Truth intentionally shoots and kills Arab children and nurses on camera, holds national celebrations for shooters, shouts at UN that investigations into the killing of thousands of unarmed children are anti semitic”
    Too long.
“Truth violently represses investigation and dictates which evidence can be discussed.”
    That might be it.

“”””. How the brain fools us into believing consciousness is immaterial. “”””
Let’s start with an ant, an amoebe, . . gravity, magnetism
What an arrogance to write this book
    🙏🌺🌈 🙏🌺🌈 🙏🌺🌈 🙏🌺🌈 This is How it works :
What would an All Powerful Being, (God)
    ( pls assume a few minutes), . . .
beyond time, Self Existing, rather powerful,
    possessing everything , . . still need? Yes. NEED . . .
LOVE is the answer, one can never have enough of that.
    So S/HE does anything imaginable & un-imaginable
and each resulting quantum or being will transform in LOVE
Via Karma(s) it may take long ( many many Big Bangs)
or just flashed ( in a nanosecond)
In All Cases. : the result is fantastic!
You ( Reader here ) are HIM / HER 🌺🌺.🌺 That’s what this book denies
Even if one Soul per Galaxy succeeds p. year , this is a Giant Stream
and that’ only for this little universe
    of Love
Please ask the Google 27 Qubits or
AI_20/500QUBIT IBM Quantum Computer – It will confirm.
Even a stone will transform in Love
can take some time ( or not, . . .
There is just no other place to go!

    *Beautiful…*
*A person started to walk on a rope tied between two tall towers at several hundred feet above the ground. He is slowly walking balancing a long stick in his hands. He has his son sitting on his shoulders.*
*Everyone down were watching him in bated breath and were tensed. He slowly reached the second tower. Everyone clapped, whistled and welcomed him. They shook hands and took selfies.*
*He asked the crowd “do you all think I can walk back on the same rope now from this side to that side?”. Crowd shouted “Yes, Yes, you can”. Do you trust me he asked. They said yes, yes we are ready to bet on you.*
*He said okay, can any one of you sit on my shoulder; I will take you to the other side safely.*
*Everyone became quiet. There was stunned silence.*
*Belief is different. Trust is different. For Trust you need total surrender.*
We believe in God. But we don’t trust Him.

Happy Diwali… to those so inclined!! 🙂
I’ve read a fair few books and texts on mysticism and spiritual practice, both well known and obscure, from the east and the west, across most if not all traditions. There is I would think very few well known texts, for example, that I have not read.
For the past few years, perhaps 10 or so, I’ve more or less lost interest in those, preferring instead to read somewhat more “out there” and contemporary metaphysical texts than from those from the traditional schools.
However, that said, I have recently read two books by the same author, Christopher D. Wallace, which I have to say are probably, at this point in my life, the “best” books in a “traditional” sense, I have ever read on spirituality, enlightenment, liberation or whatever you want to call it:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Recognition-Sutras-Illuminating-000-year-old-masterpiece/dp/098976138X
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tantra-Illuminated-Philosophy-Practice-Tradition/dp/0989761304
Everyone’s mileage varies and I have no idea how these books would read to others, or even myself say 30, 25, 20, 15 or even 5 years ago. But to me, now, I find these books to be a profoundly deep and accurate representation, or “teaching”, of my own current state. The wisdom, insight and informative teaching or pointers it provides, I feel, are completely sublime and grounded in immense insight and experience. Or at least it feels that way to me. If I was ever to write a book (which I won’t, as I’m too lazy 🙂 to help subtly guide others (not heavy on actual “practices”, which are countless in numerous traditions, and equally valid) into a state of exquisite, ecstatic, perpetually mysterious awe, grace etc, it would be precisely as written in these books. Or, should I say, I wish I would be able to get it anywhere near as eloquently and succinctly described as in these books.
For those here still inclined to an interest/passion/overwhelming desire for these subjects, and no religious aversion to alternative thoughts, I would highly recommend reading these books.
    Peace.

@injamam,…..Why do so many Pakis immigrate to the U.S. when ever accepted by Legal Immigration? How would you know that Pakistan is a better place to live, than the U.S. unless you were born a Yankee Doodle Dandee? Most of us born in American are mixed breed Mongrels, unlike Pakis, who are really particianed Indian Muslims. But we American Mongrels never leave America and try to sneak across the India/Pakistani Border Searching for better lives. I’ll but AMERICANS , of ALL Mongrel Lineages, would treat you much better, if you legally Emigrated here to America to live, than if any one of us Americans decided to live in Pakistan, and practice our own chosen Religion, and not convert to Islam. We treat our Women as Queens here, whereas Pakis treat their Women as House Hold Pets, and Keep them locked up, and deprived of equal opportunities.

  113. anami

    Dear Jesse,
Is it that you think Israel controls our government? I always thought US support of Israel comes in large part because of evangelical Christians’ hunger for the Apocalypse and the second coming of Christ. It can’t happen until the Temple is rebuilt in Jerusalem (the Third Temple). That’s why Jerusalem and the Temple Mount are such hot potatoes…
    https://www.indy100.com/article/president-donald-trump-jerusalem-israel-capital-tel-aviv-evangelicals-apocalypse-third-temple-theory-8096596
I suppose it’s also why many Christian conservatives ignore climate change or attribute global warming to God instead of Man. The End of Days kicks off with fire. Revelation 8:7 “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.”

  114. Jesse

I’m almost 100% certain you said that America should do what Europe does and criminalize “revisionism” aka disliked research.
    Maybe I’m wrong (probably not).
Not gonna go read a thousand comments to find it though.
The problem with strategies against speech is that they’re eventually going to be used against the initiator of the censorship. It’s really short sighted.
People naturally react and respond to taboos in unpleasant ways. The 21st century is gonna be so weird.

  115. Jesse

“Is it that you think Israel controls our government?”
I think it’s an unhealthy codependent relationship and both sides willingly participate. But it would be dishonest to pretend like Israeli lobbying in USA hasn’t had an overwhelming effect on our domestic laws and even culture, and that our wars have been to benefit them at the expense of American lives.
Evangelicals are a completely uninfluential group in America who are trotted out as some kind of red herring distraction.
All 3 religions we call Abrahamic have near identical eschatological stances. There’s nothing unique about Evangelicals in that respect. Go find that video of that huge chabad lubavitch rabbi telling netenyahu to do everything he can to bring back the messiah. Then go watch Corey Gil Shyster interviewing the hassids who tell him that all the goyim will be their slaves when moshiach returns. Muslims have similar concepts with their hope for a caliphate or the return of the mahdi.
None of these things are hard to find, though YouTube now officially censors anything and everything the ADL mafia tells them to so you gotta make more effort.

  116. anami

“Evangelicals are a completely uninfluential group in America”
The numbers would seem to tell a different story…
    Pew Research Center:
70% of Americans are Christian, 25% evangelical. Jews 1.9% LOL
    https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/
    Gallup:
    41% of Americans evangelical.
    https://news.gallup.com/opinion/polling-matters/235208/things-know-evangelicals-america.aspx
“Three-quarters (75%) of white voters who describe themselves as evangelical or born-again Christians (a group that includes Protestants, Catholics and members of other faiths) voted for Republican House candidates in 2018, according to National Election Pool (NEP) exit poll data reported by NBC News.”
    https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/11/07/how-religious-groups-voted-in-the-midterm-elections/

  117. Jesse

“The numbers would seem to tell a different story…”
I’m sorry but I’m not able to even imagine being as stupid as you.
Population numbers in absolutely no way correlate with power. If they did we’d expect Africa to be the richest continent without any competition and the poor to rule every country on earth.
Don’t even talk to me. I can’t stand non thinkers.

Has America allowed South Korea to steal any of our military secrets and sell them to China? Any dual citizens of Korea in our Congress who have said they support Korea first?
Did Nancy Pelosi say that if DC were to be destroyed her one priority would be America, Korea or Israel?
If you answered anything other than Israel, you’re disabled, uninformed, inundated with propaganda or all of the above.

Why it wasn’t one of the 900 trillion Africans on earth who had foreknowledge of this terror attack we’ll never know. A mystery of the gods, I suppose. Questioning would be wrong, hateful, revisionist, loathsome, and dare I say a thousand times, contemptible.

Each of us is a perfect movement in its endless dance of self-exploration self-realisation, and self-love. Let us then celebrate the fact that the opportunity has been given us to become aware of what we are. Our awakening to our true nature is integral to the energy of life and instrumental to its unfolding. Whether you can sense it right now or not, you long to awaken to your total being, and by so doing to fall in love with the whole of reality, which is nothing but an expression of your own Self….”

    Spence,
Amazing use of mathematics. Eye opener actually for me for you just busted a long held notion (flawed definitely in hindsight after your clarification) that 1/0 or a number divided by 0 yields ‘UNDEFINED’
    So,
    1) would 0^0 be equal to one and 0 / 0 be infinite?
    2) is 1 = 2 as per below
    Let 1 = x.
    Multiply by x to get
    x = x^2
Subtract 1 from each side to get
    x -1 = x^2 – 1
    Divide both sides by x − 1
    which simplifies to
    1=x+1
    But, since x = 1,
    1=1+1=2
    So
    1 = 2
    3) I had planned to distribute $1million as bonus amongst my 20 staff so that each got $50k. Now gonna distribute this amongst zero (employees). Because then $1mln divided over 0 (employees) would yield me infinite $.
    Thanks once again Spence
You also said “But only 1/1 =1.”
    So In generalised terms x/x = x
So 2/2 =2, 3/3=3 and so on is it?? and if not what is 2/2 or 3/3?? Can’t be 1 for as you said only 1/1 = 1
    Sleep well Spence.

    Hi SP
    You wrote

Infinite is undefined, SP. As the denominator gets smaller and smaller the numerator rises, and with each incremental decrease in the denominator, the size of the result grows at an accelerating pace.
    1/.5= 2
    1/.4= 2.5
    1/.3= 3.33
A decrease of just 0.1, in the second example, raises the resulting value 0.5. A 500% increase.
A further decrease of another 0.1 in the third example raises the resulting value by 1.83, an increase of over 1800%!
As the denominator approaches zero, the resulting value expands at an accelerating rate to a value that approaches the infinite… Cannot be measured, greater than any defined number. That’s infinite.
    Hope that helps.
    Your questions.
    1)”would 0^0 be equal to one and 0 / 0 be infinite?”
Zero is not a value (a real number) and cannot be divided.
    2) You wrote, “Multiply by x to get
    x = x^2”
But you aren’t multiplying by two here but raising x to the power of two.
    3) See 1 above. Be happy you don’t have part time employees!
    4) Yes n/n =1…Any number divided by itself is reduced to the lowest whole value.
What we do to ourselves can reduce us to that lowest whole value.
But again, raising something of zero value above ourselves will accomplish the same thing…. n^0 = 1

    Infinite is undefined, SP.

Strictly speaking in mathematics, that’s not accurate. But, the
explanation will make your head hurt.

    1)”would 0^0 be equal to one and 0 / 0 be infinite?”
Zero is not a value (a real number) and cannot be divided.

Again in the strict mathematical sense, zero is a “real”” number.
It just doesn’t behave like other real numbers.
But, I think mathematically 0^0 and 0/0 are considered to be
“indeterminate”. I notice computer computations yield 1 for
0^0 and “Illegal division by 0” for 0/0 though. I told you your
    head would start to hurt!

    2) You wrote, “Multiply by x to get
    x = x^2”
But you aren’t multiplying by two here but raising x to the power of two.

The original question involves some chicanery:

    “Subtract 1 from each side to get x -1 = x^2 – 1
Divide both sides by x − 1 which simplifies to 1=x+1”

Um, no that “division” of “x^2 -1” by “x -1” is bogus. The
chicanery continues until you can prove 1 = 2 which is
an alert something has gone terribly wrong 🙂

  142. Spence Tepper

    Zero has no value.
    Raising 6,000^0=1

  143. SP

    Spence,
    Revolutionary are the following
    – 0 is not a real number
    – As the denominator gets smaller and smaller the numerator rises
    – In the equation 1 = x, when both sides are MULTIPLIED by x the resultant isn’t x = x^2. Sure in your version of mathematics for an equation 1=x, 1*x = x*x would yield 1*x = 2x (after all x*x is 2x)
No wonder Euler, Gauss, Ramanujan, Aryabhatta, Riemann, Newton and a lot more are all lining up to learn mathematics from you.
1/0 is UNDEFINED / NOT DEFINED though the LIMIT of the expression 1/x as x tends to 0 is infinite. Am sure you do not understand the difference.
Zero IS A REAL NUMBER!!!!!!!! Now go find out what does 0/0 and 0^0 yield.
If my question 2 was out of your league not suprised with the stupidity displayed in your response to 3
Then x^0 = 1 is used to position some concocted notion of ‘reducing’ something or us to lowest whole value i.e. 1
    Again nonsensical
    1) Considering whole numbers, the lowest whole value is zero and not 1. Zero happens to be not just a real number but a whole number as well. Don’t get back to me with zero has no value for i will not waste any more time on fixing lack of understanding.
    2) -5^0 (and it’s -5^0 and not – of 5^0) = 1. So did -5 actually ‘reduced’ itself(value) to 1. Amazing na….. for only in your version of mathematics -5 > -5^0.
You reminded me of the only advice I would give juniors on the campus and which was – Children shouldn’t try teach their parents how to produce babies.
Have a nice day Spence. Just wake up also to that your understanding of mathematics is abysmal and so try not to use it to drive home some concocted notion.

  144. Spence Tepper

    Hi Dungeness
Yes zero is real, but a/0 is indeterminate. As the denominator approaches the limit of zero, the result approaches infinity, which has no limit. Trying to avoid Calculus terminology to express a simple idea.
As indicated in the example I provided.

  145. SP

The original question involves some chicanery:
Posted by: Dungeness | November 05, 2019 at 08:09 AM
I wouldn’t call it chicanery or deception to achieve one’s objective.
This is one absurd result if one assumes that dividing by 0 is a legitimate operation with the same properties as dividing by any other number.
    The example disguises the division by zero which occurs since x − 1 = 0 when x = 1.

  146. Georgy Porgy

Do the math yourself. Watch what happens to the result whenever you use smaller and smaller denominators.
The results get larger. As the denominator approaches zero the result approaches infinity.
It’s a fact. My poetic license was in stating that any number in the numerator will rise to infinite value a the denominator is reduced to zero.
So simple. And yet look how conventious you have become.

  148. Dungeness

Then x^0 = 1 is used to position some concocted notion of ‘reducing’ something or us to lowest whole value i.e. 1
    Again nonsensical

I wouldn’t call it chicanery or deception to achieve one’s objective.

    head would start to hurt!”.
The issue has to do with zero itself. It must exist as a real number for all other numbers to exist, but has no value of its own. You could say that zero isn’t real because it doesn’t exist in the real world. But without zero no other number has any proportional value. And unlike any other real number, you can’t divide a number by it and get a determined answer. All other real numbers can be divided, and are themselves multiples of other real numbers.
It is zero that gives the entire creation its size, scope, speed and sustainability. But zero has none of these qualities itself.
My poetic attempt was simply in response to 777s attempt to discredit Brian Ji. How can something arise from nothing? 1 x 0 =0.
But in truth, both poetically and mathematically, Everthing that exists depends upon something that doesn’t exist, zero.
And when you carve away all the false notions that don’t exist, rather than end up with nothing, you arrive at what does exist. You arrive at truth.
Hence the Michaelangelo quote / paraphrase.
And as for n^0=1, when you raise someone or something of zero value above yourself, then whatever value you had, whether n= 6,000 crore, or 10, the result will be a reduction to the lowest whole number, 1. Spirituality, you could say that you have been left whole, but lost whatever you had accumulated.
Math metaphors may not always work, but zero is a fascinating idea.

  154. Spence Tepper

    Hi SP,
You did a nice job of name – dropping, but Reimann (Reimann sphere) actually uses and substantiates division by zero, just not for real numbers. Infinity isn’t a real number, but it is the resulting set of numbers in complex analysis. Think matrix calculus. 1/infinity =0, and 1/0 = infinity… It’s a single defined point describing the whole sphere.
The range of cotangent and tangent functions in trig also approximate this form of infinity… As a defined set of complex numbers.
Rather than suggest the undergrad should listen to the prof, and remain silent, let me suggest that if the students listen to each other, learn from each other, they might better grasp the subject. And if the teacher listens to the students they will understand how to teach with greater effectiveness.

  155. Dungeness

Spirituality, you could say that you have been left whole, but lost whatever you had accumulated.

Except, as noted, zero itself raised to the power of zero, is indeterminate
and, in a correctly working computer language, will compute a NaN
    (Not a Number) error.
It would have been equally coherent in an alternately defined math or
theology to say 0^0 = 0 rather than generate an error. After all, you could
argue there should be neither loss or gain when you operate on zero just
    like 0+0, 0-0, 0*0.

    Hi Cocky
    You asked
“What a wonderful notion. What is the gain to begin with? Which then stands reduced to the smallest unit.”
This was in response to my poetic effort to discuss n^0=1.
If n = 6,000 crore, raised to the power of zero, it becomes 1.
When we raise something of zero value above ourselves, all that we gained is taken.
But you cleverly asked ‘what is that which we have gained’.
    Wealth.
This formula works four ways, again from a metaphorical logic…
    A. Worldly wealth. By placing someone or something of zero value above ourselves we are reduced to zero. Our worldly wealth vanishes (if we are lucky). This presumes that worldly wealth actually has no value.
    B. Spiritual wealth. If we place someone of no actual spiritual value above ourselves, whatever spiritual wealth we gained is taken, leaving ourselves at the smallest possible unit.
OK, so here is the clever part, Cocky, and I thank you for bringing it up.
In both cases above, we are brought back to the One.
What appears as loss in both cases is actually all the gain possible in terms of humanity and spirituality.
In Gurinder we have someone of zero utility for worldly wealth (follow his spiritual teachings, not his investment advice!).
In Brian Ji we have someone who claims zero spiritual wealth, and whose teachings reduce all spiritual gains that actually have become a barrier to personal development (as the Lord’s divine bulldozer trashing every false thing, but behind the false is the real. Dragged through our own illusion by the Lord’s gentle Bulldozer, we are brought to the Truth…but in this case every illusion is a spiritual truth, is a level of development. But they can become addictions. Hence they are illusion. Removing them actually moves us forward. Carve all that is not elephant from the block of marble, and all that is left is elephant.)
In both cases we gain. Becoming nothing, we become part of everything, one with everything. Owning nothing, holding zero view, we naturally fit into the whole as our tiny self… And reconnected to the Whole, we become the infinite.

    What is Zero (KUU)?
This website is named zero = abundance. Based on the concept conceived by the ancient Indian philosophers, we believe that zero, or nothingness/emptiness, is not null as it appears, but is actually a boundless source of inspiration, creation, engagement, and ultimately happiness. The ramification of the zero concept was so profound that the Buddhists dedicated themselves for centuries, if not a thousand years, to cement its principle.  Eventually, Zen, a school of Buddhism that thrived in Japan during the Middle Ages, crystallized the essence in the form of various arts, most notably the Zen garden. The beauty was so captivating that it influenced modern minimalist arts, design, architecture and even business philosophy around the world.
In Eastern Asia, the concept of zero is expressed using the Chinese character “空,” which is pronounced “Kuu” in Japanese, and means “sky”, “void” or “emptiness.”

The “zero” (or mathematical zero) as we know it today was first developed in India around 650 AD. It was conceived as a placeholder to recognize “nothingness” to perform complex calculations. The original sign for zero, or dots under the numbers, was also called “sunya” — a concept from ancient Indian philosophy to describe “emptiness,” “void,” or “sky.” While mathematical zero emerged as an essential element to advance science in the modern world, “sunya” has always been a major interest of Asian philosophy and religions. Buddhists have especially devoted themselves to pursue the truth of zero.

Isn’t it a great pity that those who seek for, and get accepted by, and voluntarily accept initiation by ‘formalized gurus’ even 35 or 45 or 55 years back still can’t recognize a true guru from a false one?
It strikes me as being a ‘first world’ and perhaps more pointedly a Yankee doodle problem, what with all the fancy pants academic institutions like Yale and Harvard and Princeton and Smithsonian, UCLA etc. institutions, the wood becomes increasingly difficult to recognize from the trees.

It’s actually the opposite, after 35, 45 or 55 years we have learned to recognize the difference.
    It’s not so subtle.
But it didn’t just happen. A few outspoken folks who got our attention helped us wake up.
And that’s because 35, 45, or 55 years isn’t necessarily years of growth.
For some, stuck in the same confident and comfortable, stagnant and self – justifying life it has only been one year repeated 35,45 or 55 years over.

Right now there are about 80 fires in Queensland and a further 60 blazes raging through New South Wales. The maps show the east coast terrifyingly lit up like a grotesque Christmas tree. Many of these fires are burning out of control as the relentlessly gusty winds ground the firefighting aircraft needed to bring the blazes under control.

Two people are dead, seven missing, 30 injured and at least 150 homes have been lost as “unprecedented” bushfires sweep through northern New South Wales and south east Queensland.
The emergency services have issued a warning to expect more fatalities as fire fighters battle to make their way into areas affected by some 81 blazes, 43 of them out of control, in NSW alone.

How and why are you supposed to meditate on anyone? You don’t know the inner nature of anyone’s mind. You barely know yourself.
You meditate on “Baba Ji” yet I can list everything you know about him in less than 20 words.
    -He talks in public.
    -He once lived in Spain.
WHAT AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE! Such a blessing to have a LIVING master, man. Wow, you know that he lives somewhere, gives talks, and maybe steals a lot of money. You should probably meditate and focus on his face because you know so much about this guy.

There is a famous line from one of the upanishads that goes “guru brahma guru vishnu guru devo maheshwara”
Usually it’s translated to mean “Guru is Brahma, Guru is Vishnu etc.” It’s utilized by all modern babas, and RSSB gurus themselves have used this line to justify the worship of men with vast amounts of riches.
But what if the meaning was the exact opposite of what all these opportunistic babas would like it to mean? Maybe the meaning is “Vishnu is the Guru, Brahma is the Guru” and has nothing to do with worshiping men, but means the Gods themselves are your teachers and gurus?
Nobody wants you to believe this because that wouldn’t be good for business, would it?

  186. Jesse

“Baba Ji, I’ve been meditating for 20 years and finally you’ve shown me your astral form. 187. Jesse

“Sant mat is an EASTERN religionand cannot be understood by people of the west!!!
what was the saying about the west and the east …. they never …”
To much of what is now Christendom, Christianity was an Eastern religion at one point as well.
I think the insanity caused by RS and other cults in western people is due to unchangeable aspects of culture, not the religious teachings per-se. We have our own gurus and meditations in the west which work very well. The gurus are often far more analytical and expect much less to be believed, and they especially don’t expect to be considered holy. Look at Eckhard Tolle for example. Or even in the east, Supreme Master Ching Hai’s methods and aesthetics resonate much better with the Vietnamese.
It’s simply not in our western blood to worship men, and it causes conflict in our minds when we’re expected to. So far, not a single Indian guru has been able to understand the west (because the gurus are all arrogant, and almost invariably uneducated dolts. But the educated ones are no better. See Belur Math’s touring brainiacs as examples).
They just try to force their views on us like Christian missionaries did to them, which is why nearly everyone who gets into the realm of yoga and meditation eventually leaves, often mentally broken and blah blah some cliche about empty shells of their former selves or whatever.
We should be a lot less concerned about trying to fit in to foreign religions, and more concerned about when mass migration with its baggage of unavoidable and inevitable violent clash of cultures leads to a war that kills all of us. Cause you know, that’ll suck really, really, really bad, and not even the Koch brothers and all the other greedy psychos be able to escape the terror they initiated.

  188. um

    @ Jesse
Whether it is in our blood or culture to worship i don’t know.
Personally I am not able to admire anything or anybody if I cannot relate to it. Cakes one cannot taste are of little value, so to say.
And in eating cakes ir doesn’t matter whether the maker is famous or he and his products are admired by the masses. If the cakes taste good, it just tastes good.
If one is in a movie one loses the awareness of self and the surroundings, be lost in the drama shown on the screen. Normally one wake up after the movie omes to an end. If one wakes up in the meantime it is not that funny. One becomes aware o oneself, and the surroundings in the theatre … a rather noisy and smelly experience depending where one was seeing the movie. …. and … the movie itself has lost all its attraction it had before and ends up as fast moving visions and noises.
One can get up and leave the theatre but that is not appreciated nor to speak to the people next to one. Calming down, and waiting for the end to come is the best remedy.
Many things in the world do resemble these movies, certainly poltics and religion. Once lost the contact with the drama it is difficult to regain the contact.
All things that have their root in “hot” climates will die out in colder zones within 3 to for generations. Bollywood and mekka cannot last in the northern hemisphere

  189. Jesse

“All things that have their root in “hot” climates will die out in colder zones within 3 to for generations”
Does Christianity not count? What about people? Because I live in one of the coldest parts of USA, and we definitely have families originating from warmer climates who’ve been here more than 3 generations.

  190. um

    @ jesse
Ask those people if they are still the same as they ancestors.
Plants from other climates, if they survive the first generation, will tend to adapt themselves. White sage, is from hotter climate and will not survive the winters in northern countries … but … these days one can buy white sage that will survive the winter.
In colder climates the emotions have to calm down otherwise one cannot live in small rooms for longer periods in the dark winter.

I’m sorry you are stuck inside, for the smoke and the devastation.
But all life comes to a disastrous end. Consider how your friends, parents, pets, and yes even children have died. It is not generally great. When each one passed, their entire world crashed and burned to ashes. What you are witnessing now out your window happens to all life in less dramatic but equally lethal ways every moment of every day, across the globe. We are all burning in that dumpster fire.
So I’m sorry. But please don’t blame me personally. You had / have a guru for that.

    these kind of things are
Is a little tiny because in fact
There is no time but just HE exists
And everything we are aware of is HIM/HER
He leads a very simple life and wants only One Thing
But that is old News, but not Fake news :
SHE wants LOVE , nothing more, nothing less
So SHE invented the Rule : You go Where your Heart is now!
This rule applies to ALL in evolution
And can be consumed in the 7-Chakra Entity (f. I. humans ) at best
The word Heart🔥can best be interpreted : “Where your Chakras are”. 🔥
Easier : Which Chakra is most often energised. 🔥
Now, . . . SHE placed herself in the highest Chakra
The Crown and hopes that we reside there also often
When it happens, HE is flabbergasted ( and WE experience it)
Underway there is the “DO NO HARM” rule like an access ticket
Because the harm we do comes back and pulls us down
    Pulls even down in evolution
And Who wants to re-be a planet, a galaxy . . . . stuff from the past is that
    So , . . . Let’s be (with)HIM, Let’s be HER
Underway here are so many sweet cadeaus ( gifts )

“I KNOW MY Astral body has a mind of its own, and operates outside of Jim’s Cage, and never tells Jim where it’s going, what it’s doing, after it returns from each adventure”
So your “astral body” is something that you watch. A foreign object. Like a movie. And you experience completely different things than your astral body.
Then when you die, that astral body will just go off on its own and forget you ever existed.

  196. Jesse

“the first principle of spirituality, the minimum condition : do no harm.”
Most of the Sikh gurus engaged in war. Krishna killed people. I don’t think “do no harm” is necessary for spirituality, because spirituality is a vague word.
“Would a true Holyman, a man of god, be involved (as he has now even admitted himself) in such financial skullduggery?”
Yeah, why not. Maybe true spirituality absolutely requires us to be criminally violent. Who knows. Maybe the higher heaven Sawan Singh wanted access to was Valhalla and he was just too weak to fight and get there.
The problem isn’t whether or not Gurinder lives up to some sort of modern humanist morality that we call spirituality. It’s whether or not he lives by his own stated rules which we can find in his book publishers many selections. And as we know, he doesn’t live up to those rules.

‘When this “observer effect” was first noticed by the early pioneers of quantum theory, they were deeply troubled. It seemed to undermine the basic assumption behind all science: that there is an objective world out there, irrespective of us. If the way the world behaves depends on how – or if – we look at it, what can “reality” really mean?’

  203. Whodunit

‘Physicists are not terribly comfortable with finding themselves inside their theories. Most hope that consciousness and the brain can be kept out of quantum theory, and perhaps vice versa. After all, we do not even know what consciousness is, let alone have a theory to describe it.’
“Every line of thought on the relationship of consciousness to physics runs into deep trouble,” says Adrian Kent.

    +. don t hurt a thing

  206. Hey 777
All this crying is gonna make the blog soggy!
‘That each consciousness IS THE CREATOR – TOTALLY’
Well, well – if that ain’t what the soul is then more rain falls up then falls down!
Both individuation and universal simultaneously, well that’s my take on it – blows the mind I reckon.
All this stuff about separate pieces trying to find their way home = a diversion imo.
Also, as I’ve been slowing moving through the ‘Recognition Sutras’ it seems that these teachings have similarities with some of what you get in Sant Mat – only more in depth with both a top down and a bottom up approach to things. At the moment it even seems to me that Sant Mat may well have come out of teachings such as these (Kashmir Shaivism), as folks like Manjit have mentioned in earlier posts.
Further To quote Wallis (p.89/90) –
‘In the act of perceiving, the perceiver is subtly changed by what s/he perceives, and what s/he perceives is changed as a result of being perceived, and this is constantly happening, moment to moment in an endless flux – the infinite dance of awareness…..
…what you bring to any given experience (which of course is your entire history) profoundly shapes the nature of that experience …… the object affects your consciousness, and your consciousness affects the object …..’
In regard to being aware/paying attention to this he [Wallis]says:
‘This intimate of a relationship between subject and object is only possible, the Tantrikas argue, if they are two aspects of one reality, and therefore they sought, through awareness-cultivation techniques, to realise each object of experience in its true nature: as a vibration of Awareness’.
Wallis then goes on to draw parallels between these teachings and Quantum Mechanics:
‘ …. There is no such thing as observer-independent reality. In other words, we cannot ever know the purely ‘objective’ or unobserved nature of a thing, because it has no such nature…. If you wish to experience reality differently, you must radically reconfigure the way in which you perceive …’
I think this is good stuff.
    Best wishes

It’s not designed for recognition of truth only for dissecting and discrimination of ‘facts’ to determine ‘reality’ by means of deduction, not by direct value of experience or sight.
To know what truth is one has to use other faculties that can penetrate the veil of the illusory nature
As even scientists are trying to do today using ‘primitive’ physical apparatus, however these applications as ‘advanced’ as they proposed to be are yet inadequate to see beyond the veil of the physical fabric of ‘gross’ material existence.

No not from ‘intellectual traditions of India’ but via direct exchange between teacher and disciple, or even better, for experience with practical system of application (and appreciation, which obviously you lack, which is probably why your perception remains closed) as taught by true mystics.
So if your perception is closed because your intellect has shut it down don’t presume that everyone else is as blind as you are to what is available to be understood or experienced through means other than incapacitated blind intellect.

“It is all not in ones hands.”
Yet the answer is within you. The mind forgets. And so the heart forgets. And the pathway is through the heart and the mind.
Physiological Psychology has already demonstrated that we remember by association, not recording. The mind doesn’t actually function like a computer. It functions relationally.
What that means is that you can forget beautiful events, lessons learned, incredible experiences and the relational pathway back to them simply by disassociation from just one single key facet of them. You only need to misdirect attention from a key memory to place the entire related chain out of access. You might recall the details of an event. But the connection to your heart can be lost in this way. But all the pieces are still there for you to reconnect in a more grounded and truthful way.
Do not confuse what you see around you with the reality of the path. But your path is what you have already experienced. So find that through your own practice. Build the atmosphere. Allow yourself to believe and when you withdraw finally to there, then you can look down upon here and try to integrate the two realities. But the inner one must take priority since you actually live there. That’s your home, even though you are lost looking out the kitchen window to the happenings on the street. You are still in that kitchen and need to cook your meal. All the appliances and groceries are right there. Just turn around. And you will find that there is much more there than you know. And you are not alone.
Jaimal Singh gave the best advice. Don’t get up from meditation until you have tasted the bliss of the Shabd Duhn, even just for a few minutes. Then and only then you are set aright and can think and see most clearly, as clearly as we can from this tiny point of a single life in n this single moment time, conditioning and place.

  217. Whodunit

    Um
Everything as experienced here in this condition is as a projected movie
So it simply is the condition that requires clarity of fine projection.
The light projects from the projector through the film onto the screen which is the projected image into the plane of this world, the stepped down transformation of action/reaction. (karma, life, experience, love, hate, attraction, repulsion, attachment, detachment)
But if the light from the projector is switched off then no projection is visible. The movie stops.
Without the light (consciousness) projected through the moving images in the film (mind), onto the screen (the world), there is no movie.

If both gifts are not there …. what can one do?! What you write about an letter I don't follow!! Anyway I just accept that people do have experiences like there are others that have a talent to write music, discover things in science or things like that…. we are not all gifted. And those who are not gifted are left with the hearsay of talented people. People go to concert halls to listen to Bach's but the real music of Bach was what he heared in his mind. Poems of mystics are the same, for a while it gives pleasure, but soner or later one will discover that HEARSAY however beautifull is just THAT ,,,HEARSAY. Two things..
1.” In order to do that Spence one needs the necessary motivation about a goal to be reached”
When you walk into a garden you see things you didn’t see before, and getting to know them better automatically becomes one’s goal.
The only effort is to walk there and make sure you aren’t looking at your cell phone all the time, or listening to your head phones. You just have to be there.
When you close your eyes, you’re in a cathedral. Using repetition, imagery of the Master, any method to put down the cell phone and take off the headphones and you will begin to have a sense that you are on a very large place. And then you watch your mind /brain operating. That’s very interesting. The Quieter you get, the more your brain becomes sensitive, and raises to conscious awareness, stimuli you normally aren’t aware of. Because it’s subtle. But focusing on it, the brain helps amplify it. Then just observe, focus on the things that help you withdraw even from what you see in meditation. You get to watch a show so long as you don’t get too involved. Like skateboarding, or iceskating, or surfing. So long as you maintain your balance, you get to go on a little trip. And each part unfolds just as easily as a garden opens up to you with each step forward.
So it’s about practice, and getting sensitive to what’s in you already. And reducing the cycle time between distraction and forgetting.
2.”Mystics are right, that the pull, the calling, is a gift …. not that their is a giver … but the whole mystic literature speaks of a burning hearts desire … if that fire is not there what can one doe ???”
If you have the desire and interest that’s all you need, then comes effort. The pull is always there in everyone. It’s part of our physiology. If you have a human body, pull is there. Not every method works. Brian ji likes Mindfulness, everyone has their favorite. Be willing to experiment. Because basically everyone has the same physiology. Shabd is inside of everyone. Not everyone experiences the same way, but eventually they do. Until then it’s Shabd filtered through brain.Or more precisely, Airbrush filtered through the brain’s Sensory filters. At some point you experience without those filters. That’s when you will be hearing Shabd, and in time that becomes overwhelming. But all roads lead to Rome if you just keep walking. Unless the road you are on is just too steep. Then take one of the more gradual paths.
    Start from where you are.
Put in a few minutes each day then try to lengthen it.
Make your practice reliable, then punctual.
And those small disciplines will help carry you through most of the distractions. And when you become disconnected from Shabd, you will naturally want to Mediate even more, and the effort will be there. But it has to become anchored in some internal experience for you to be able to go back there. That’s why you should change practices if you aren’t getting results.

    Hi Um
I’m not sure you lack any qualities.
Maybe. Certainly we all lack Qualities. I think it depends on what you are after. Vince Lombardi said success is a habit and so is failure. We can and should change habits that aren’t working.
When you say you gained nothing from all those years it reminds me of the story of a boy who tried to move a boulder to get the treasure in the cave. Every day he would come and try to move the boulder. It didn’t move. But in his loyalty to his practice his arms and legs became very strong. It didn’t bother him. He enjoyed his outdoor walk to the boulder, and his pressing exercises against it. It became a mildly pleasant routine.
One day, as he walked up to his favorite boulder, he wondered if it was perfectly round. The question of the actual shaoe of the Boulder had never crossed his mind before.
Just on a lark, he walked to the side of the boulder and noticed there were gouges in the side.
Now he was strong, after all those months and years of trying to move the Boulder. And so he reached for hand hold over hand hold, and foot hold over foot hold, and pulled himself straight up the side.
There he had a lovely view of the valley before. And he saw that the entrance to the mythical cave was wide open from the top. And so in he went and got his treasure.
But if he’d kept pushing that boulder he would never have gotten anywhere.
It was what he had learned, and the strength he had developed to climb under his own power at least to the entrance, that served him.
So be willing to try something different. Destination is there. You are stronger than you were. Maybe strong enough to try something different.

In meditation I asked Master to explain levels of consciousness with respect to the limits of the human brain. Here is what he showed me and explained, as best I can recall.
When your meditation advances to a certain stage it is as though you had a supermarket built next to your home. You can go there and see everything while your are there. That’s universal consciousness. Of course we don’t spend much time there, but it is there. And when you go you can see anything you like. And you can take a few things back with you when you return to daily consciousness, ‘return to the body’. Generally we don’t take anything but the experience of our Master, the time we spend together. We pass the supermarket and go straight to his house. And that helps us, reminds us to stay in his presence throughout the day. That boils down, when we return here, to an impression of love.
But as to that supermarket, You can bring an item, or a handful of items back with you to the kitchen of the mind. You can develop that if you wish. But it isn’t necessary. Some minds have just a toaster oven and a single burner, and a small cooler. Others have a large stove with many burners, two ovens, and a large refrigerator. What truths entering back must be processed so we can comprehend it in this stage of consciousness. But it is very limited. The brain is very limited. And it’s conditioned to attend to this world, and generally suppress most internal experience. Mind is doing its job, but we can do our job separating from it, rather than trying to mold it or expand it. There are some dangers there. But very few people can develop enough power to be dangerous. What is most important is to build the wealth of time with Master within, because that conditions us for death. That prepares our mind through conditioning the mind. Then we are conditioned to return to Master and not to this world. So we shouldn’t waste our wealth on anything else. And then there is protecting that wealth, that’s Satsang, that’s reading good books, good company, Bhajan and Simran during the day, conditioning the mind to remember and enjoy the return to Meditation and Master’s presence. Then we are preparing the mind, which is the most we should be doing for this mind.

Do you mind to be called Spiritual Bi-polair
Lets enjoy :Welcome to one of the biggest mysteries in the universe: what makes up most of it. Our best measurements indicate that some 85 per cent of all matter in our universe consists of “dark matter” made of something that isn’t atoms. Huge underground experiments built to catch glimpses of dark matter particles as they pass through Earth have seen nothing. Particle-smashing experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, which we hoped would create dark matter, haven’t – at least as far as we can tell. The hunt for dark matter was never supposed to be easy. But we didn’t expect it to be this hard.

  235. Hey Whodunit
I’m assuming your ‘intellect is a hindrance’ comment is in response to my recent post?
Yes, it is an ‘intellectual’ response to what 777 posted earlier, how else is one to engage in such discussion? As said, I’m enjoying reading and assimilating what I currently see in ‘The Recognition Sutras’. It’s always good in my view when someone else says something that resonates/gels with how I’m thinking/feeling about stuff – particularly when it comes to gaining further insight/perspective into the truth of things.
I’d say that over the years some aspects of my intellect have sharpened as I’ve become more aware of how the mind operates. I’d also like to think that my ‘heart’ has remained open. I believe that this so called ‘spiritual path’ is as Spencer says a combo of both head and heart. A good word for the result of the two working together would be ‘discernment’. Discernment imo is another term for ‘clear thinking’ which (putting a Sant Mat view on it) according to Jagat Singh means the job is 90% done.
In my view such discernment would be important for understanding this relationship of perceiver and perceived which according to Kashmir Shaivism provides insight into that which is the ground of everything.
Of course if you can do the full Bhakta as per Sant Mat then arguably one could arrive at a similar place but who does that – a few fingers on a Saint’s hand?
Hail James Sutherland! How are you?
Pardon my ignorance but I’m trying to get my head around a vision of the ‘Spermy 500’ and hatching from an egg! 🙂

Have you done it since winning the race?
Is it a take on destiny? Or soul?

Yes, bi-polar I would guess. Because I live in two distinct places with a different mind in each. Two different personalities as well.
But it’s better to struggle with integrating those two than to live in this meager place alone with the one.

“Bhajan and Simran during the day, conditioning the mind to remember and enjoy the return to Meditation and Master’s presence. Then we are preparing the mind, which is the most we should be doing for this mind.”
Why the need to program the mind? Why the need to follow a guru? Maybe just allowing the mind to observe the world, ourself and others, our reactions. Just watching and observing our programs running through our mind, our thoughts, our feelings and then constantly letting go, because life is a mystery and we can’t grab onto it with our thoughts. Thoughts are constantly changing and flowing, thats what the mind does. Just observe and let go.

I think Ishwar Puri has it right though… a spiritual will has to develop as well.
One that will say “no” to say the mental will. Otherwise the mind will keep
piling up things “to let go of”.

  241. Jesse

Believers need to make clear one distinction in their mind.
    Immorality vs Illegality.
What Baba is doing is immoral according to both societal standards, and according to his own stated standards and those of the religious organization from which he claims to have received godhood.
What Baba is doing may or may not be illegal. And whether or not he gets caught is not the sole determining factor of this, by the way. It just means that there are limits to the justice system.
So while I and others maybe casually mix the two things together, it should be accepted that whether or not a court of law finds sufficient evidence to conclude his guilt, he is still guilty by the social standards we’d use to judge anyone who wasn’t charismatic and religiously powerful.
Were you not members of a cult, you wouldn’t question for a single moment whether or not this Baba was acting in service of personal greed, and neither would you question whether or not intense personal greed was an extremely negative character trait.
Leave the cult. It’s a cringe and lame system of low brow Vedanta for illiterate farmers. It is beneath you.

  242. Steve

Thank you Jesse for the words of wisdom.
Unfortunately you are no judge of both
    – moral standards
    – legality
The day you have this authority, come back.
    Until then…..

Leave the cult. It’s a cringe and lame system of low brow Vedanta for illiterate farmers. It is beneath you.

What! Leave the cult? Watch it wither and die? Deprive you of
    your favorite bete noire?
Perish the thought! You’d be abandoned, alone, adrift with no
one to judge! There’d be none that needed saving from that
    greedy, immoral Baba.
Alas, I’d be lost too. Who would I argue with? Without unbelievers
who would I find to feel superior to? Who then could I save from
    damnation and hellfire?
We need each other. Don’t ya see!?

  244. Jesse

I’m the most moral person to have ever lived, Steve. Sorry you’re too much of a little worldly samsara-addicted bitch to notice how moral I am. Maybe meditate a bit more instead of being on the internet, buddy? Maybe get on my level? I don’t know, man. Do something.
Must suck to be lost and have no guidance from the inner master I guess. I other words, it must suck TO BE YOU.
Had you seen my website, complete with pictures of me in ethnic robes and long honorific titles, you’d be much closer to The Truth. But I assume you are no good at using search engines and didn’t see my website, King SEO aka Steve Eternally Ostracized (from the company of Saint Jesse)
Were I less humble I’d be giving satsangs, but you don’t even really deserve my wisdom anyway. I say that in the universe encompassing humility only I know, and in the spirit of my saintliness, sucka.

Good point, Dungeness. I do appreciate those who try to save me from the eternal hellfire, but only because without them I have nobody to try pulling into the flames to dance with me.

“Once you get the inner connection there is nothing else you want to do. And the Guru, as a teacher, walks the talk, lives the life he is teaching, models that life.”

    So, Spence from Earth dictating

  249. Spence Tepper

    Hi 777
Who wants to deal with anything once they have Shabd?
It’s not something to brag about, but to submit to.
A person teaching this but deeply embroiled in deeply complex high finance, high risk investment across over one hundred corporate entities in the construction of a family empire for years, has given themselves over to that career, in finance. Not spirituality. The lord has many other people to build real estate and financial Empires.
You failed to miss the point. Yes God can do anything. But the role of the Sant Sat Guru is to show people how to model their entire lives around Shabd, around simplifying the life, so that a normal person could live that life, build that atmosphere.
It is absolutely meaningless to look at someone and say “only a god could do that!”
I understand that you believe the Master should be superhuman in all ways. That is wrong. They are here to collect souls and to be a model for the rest of us, not to live in a way that few could follow, and certainly not a model that has proven time and again to be the path of greed, corruption and self destruction. There are a lot of gurus who take that path. But they false.
The simple way is the best, 777. If you find you must make all sorts of excuses for what looks just like greed and corruption on a grand scale, year over year, then you might consider that this is not living a simple life of devotion, a life of complete transparency and honesty, and a model that others can and should follow.
That’s the job of the Sant Sat Guru.

    @ Spence
Not that it does matter but I believe to have read and heard several times that gurus, mystics and saints can come in any garb, be it pauper or king.
Kings of yore are the businessmen of today …. hahahaha … and niether king nor businessmen get wealthy by working the land as a farmer.
I am glad that my english, financial know how etc is far to insufficient to even follow more than the headlines …. hahahaha and for my believe, if their as any it is not needed

  253. Jesse

In another thread someone who uses the name Nancy said in regards to believing facts and speculation about the guru’s links to illegal activity “Please don’t conclude something on the basis of hearsay.”
If this were the standard we adhered to, there would be no religion, especially not the RS religion. The entire system is built on a structure of hearsay. Whether it be blind faith in the holiness and miracles of men from ages ago, or the blind faith in the hearsay about the existence of an entity called the “inner master”, it’s all stories that you first believed in before having any confirmation.
Nobody would be initiated by these “masters” were it not for loads and loads of hearsay, so cut the bullshit out and be honest. You believe what you choose to believe and care nothing for facts, and this is totally fine. Just admit it.

  254. Whodunit

It’s only hearsay to those who have never witnessed anything directly.
To those who have direct experience on a personal level then it reverts to knowledge from clarity of experience and understanding, not from hearsay.
To those who can only operate by hearsay because their senses of receiving or recognizing have been dumbed down through excessive reliance on intellect to assume certain deductions, the cognitive faculties cannot appreciate direct perspective. Therefore everything they develop their conclusions by are based only on hearsay, and none of it as clarified by any means of direct unencumbered experience, only by what their closed-minded calculated intellect has led them to believe.
It’s like the story of Saul of Tarsus who was going around persecuting early Christian followers of Christ because his ‘intelligence’ – (intellectual hearsay) had influenced his life to the extent of dogmatic assumptions in cold hearted intolerance. Until such time as he was struck down by some force either of his own conscience or by some higher power or reason unknown to him prior to his ‘epiphany’.
Likewise until anyone has had any personal experience of anything beyond their own closed calculations of intellectual reasoning, then it’s all hearsay to them. Until they get the good fortune to understand what it is to have personally experienced something directly.

  255. Dungeness

Nobody would be initiated by these “masters” were it not for loads and loads of hearsay, so cut the bullshit out and be honest. You believe what you choose to believe and care nothing for facts, and this is totally fine. Just admit it.

I agree… sorta. Certain beliefs or theories may resonate so someone
may opt to adopt/explore their viability. Without supporting facts, it
remains an experiment, a guess, hearsay. Sadly, after its “shelf life”
expires with no proof, it devolves to “blind belief”.
In my opinion, mindfulness helps you spot the rank smell of a theory
that shoulda been pulled from a shelf long ago. But, if you’re not
mindful, a “cult master” (or your own mind) convinces you dire things
happen if you stop believing. Brian Ji and Sensei Tepper et al warn
    of these dangers.
True mysticism honors facts though and insists on experiential
confirmation before that foul odor wafts down from the shelf.
Moreover mystics are open to all paths that posit the truth is inside
and not outside. Great Master told Puri to explore any path that
resonated and report back any whose methods were more
efficacious for uncovering the truth inside.

  256. Spence Tepper

    Hi Um
It’s true Gurus come in all shapes and colors. But it seems recently they have a penchant for materialism.
We get the guru we deserve. If people need a king in golden robes flying in jets, riding his Harley, sending his kids to the best schools in Europe, having visits with movie stars, that’s what they get. They want a glamorous Guru who lets them lust after wealth and all the things of this world, too. They are drawn to it, with the idea that it’s OK. They want their guru to be mixed up in all this, not to be judged wrong, but to be judged right! So that they can too. It’s a secret wish. And along with it, the dream and belief they will be taken right into heaven, and all their worldly wealth simply exchanged at the airport into heavenly currency.
But when one tires of those material false notions, and has a serious interest in spirituality things look much different. We go where our attention is. If that’s material gain, one more acre of land, then we will come back for that acreage. It will be impossible to leave all that we worked so hard to build.
And we see all this obscene worship of wealth, with our only real currency, our attention. And the flawless duplication and sanctification of the Hindu Caste system, the system of slavery.
There will always be a market for such.
But there are real Sant Sat Gurus. And when you find them you will realize that it isn’t ‘anything goes’. They are very far from all this materialism. All that must be released.
Because there is another more important wealth deserving all our attention. Every moment of every day.
And attending with so much ambition to worldly things becomes a tragedy for the poverty left in our spiritual account.
And that tragedy is painted in a trail of fraudulent loans.
But if the pull of spirit isn’t there, then what is left but the pull of attachment?
    Then we really are helpless.
But the pull of spirit makes us very ambitious for spirit. We see room crowded with people and Luxuries as a prison, and an empty room as a doorway to freedom. I realize this makes no sense at all to some people.
And that’s OK. Spirituality sn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

  257. um

    @Spence
“sobrietas”, and simple living in a simple way are core virtues in Christian and monastic life.
You might enjoy the story of an Australian atheist scholar that became an Coptic monk
Search for “The life of Fr. Lazarus Al Anthony” on YOUTUBE … there are some versions of 1 hour and 2 hours
What I put before you was something that follows from the tradition as taught by the successors of Kabir, not necessary my views …. that REAL saints, mystics, gurus come in ANY garb be it pauper or king. As we don’t have any king, the concept has to be replace by CEO’s
AND ….. there is also said that there is no way to recognise a true master on his outward behaviour.
AND …..never judge or speak ill of people seen as guru’s
It is all there in the books and on tapes.
I do understand that these same teachings cause problems for most disciples these days as they feel that they have to take side in one way or another, pro or contra.
The core of the teaching is in the word SHABD-yoga as long as that is taught, the teacher stands within the tradition of the path.
The rest is for the worldly judges, newspapers, to find out and judge accordingly

  258. Spence Tepper

    Hi Um
    Good comments
    You wrote
“AND ….. there is also said that there is no way to recognise a true master on his outward behaviour.
” AND …..never judge or speak ill of people seen as guru’s
“It is all there in the books and on tapes.”
Yes, but we also read in those same writings that Saints lead a simple life, they give everything to the poor and needy, their entire focus is on spirit, not acqusition of wealth. Lust, anger, greed, attachment and pride they have overcome. Their entire focus is on helping others. Saints earn their own living honestly. And they earn just what they need. If they are born with wealth, when they take the mantle of Guru, they give that away in stages.
No Guru in any recorded literature built a financial empire, or even built or conquered a kingdom when they took the mantle of the Guru. That’s a full time role.
Nothing in the literature, nothing written in Sar Bachan, nothing written by Kabir, Nanek, Amar Das, Gobhind Singh, Christ, Mira, Rumi, Shams and the others supports what we have today in RSSB, and in fact these authors detail the lifestyle of a true Saint. That is in stark contrast.
Now, as to speaking out against religious prejudice, the Saints could be quite vocal critics. Because if not for them, who would speak for the voiceless?
All true Gurus advocate Ahimsa, no harm. But who will speak out for the harm being done by RSSB?
It falls to human beings to use the gifts they were given. So that we establish justice for the powerless and the voiceless.
That is what he Saints ask us to do. All of them ask for that.
When there is no harm, we should never judge anyone. We should live in Shabd, within, in peace.
But when there is harm it is our duty to speak out.
And then it is a grievous sin to remain silent.

  259. Um

    @ Spence
Chance or divine intervention but the answer I wrote has gone again.
In short … your views upon the teachings and the teacher differ.
Yours being in agreement with what most people hold for correct, both pro and contra here.
They represent the noble qualities attributed to Christianity were love for one’s fellow human beings is goal worthy to live and die for. For me these same things are at best a means to an end.

  260. Jesse

“No Guru in any recorded literature built a financial empire, or even built or conquered a kingdom when they took the mantle of the Guru.”
I think there have in fact been quite a few spiritual gurus with immense wealth and kingdoms. The Bhagvatam is full of spiritual leaders who are also kings. The Mahabharata is a story of saints fighting wars. Whether or not they use the term guru is irrelevant.
Even in the sant tradition that most RSSB’ers are familiar with there is the entire second half of Sikhism, with the idea of “miri piri” and the “sant siphai.”
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Hargobind
These religions were also caricatures of nationalism, which is something very inconvenient to delusional modernists.

  261. Spence Tepper

    Hi Jesse
Your correction is well taken, in reference to all those who have been credited with the title of Guru. Many kings, many conquerers. And they demonstrate the ease with which people who follow them can blindly accept lust, anger, greed, attachment and pride in behavior by those who claim to teach the opposite. And that followers enable the harm these false Gurus perpetrate in the name of spirituality. They build a peaceful cathedral for Sunday sanctuary, but many were murdered to do so.
My recent references were to the true Gurus, the true teachers of spirituality. The Sant Sat Gurus. The highest teachings, which are focused on spirituality, not obscene levels of material acquisition. Also, no true Saint ever advocated violence of any kind. And all of them eschewed it.
This can be found in the writings of those I listed and are not bound by any geography, culture or time, though they have helped shape the better qualities of many cultures.
    They walk the talk.
    .

    Hi Um
    You wrote
“They represent the noble qualities attributed to Christianity were love for one’s fellow human beings is goal worthy to live and die for. For me these same things are at best a means to an end.”
I’m not sure I expressed my meaning adequatly. Ahimsa, generosity and focus on helpfulness are qualities that arise naturally from spiritual development, the effect of Nam upon us. Some can do this with full conscious awareness. Others, they are blessed to begin with, with these qualities. Certain things come naturally. The tree laden with fruit bows low, and the fruits drop naturally without even being asked for or touched. That tree is in its season.
But the barren tree stands tall and firm, disciplined, and imoving. That tree gives very little shade.
These are not Western our Eastern concepts.
The one of Spirit walks the talk. It is all they can do.
And they tell the truth, however uncomfortable it sounds, but always with the desire to help. There is no point to expose Baba Ji except to help.
All the clothes in the wash are very angry and annoyed being tossed about and scrubbed and drowned in soap. And none of them like the heat of the dryer.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the iron is sheer torment, the fires of hell.
But when the laundry worker holds them up to the mirror, even the once dirty shirt and pants can see they have been transformed. And now they are happy.
The laundry worker knows what they are doing. They aren’t kings, they aren’t Gurus with a capital G.
But they are doing the honest and unglamorous work. This is Brian Ji’s Laundromat.
We just ignore the baby crying as we change the diaper, or we whisper and coo until she calms down. Diaper must be changed and she will feel better once it’s all over.

  263. Spence Tepper

I would think, Jesse, that you might find yourself a trifle uncomfortable promoting the same nationalism as these false Gurus from history you decry.
Please take a cleansing moment to connect the dots. Here, borrow my crayon.

  264. Jesse

“My recent references were to the true Gurus, the true teachers of spirituality. The Sant Sat Gurus.”
Oh the sant sat gurus eh? You mean the Sikh gurus then. Because that is a Sikh religious term, and Sikhs have always been nationalists.
Ever read the bhagvad gita? Another pro nationalism book by a “false guru” known as Lord Krishna.
You don’t know what you’re talking about Spence. Nationalism is only scary because… You know why, Spence. I’ll be polite and just let you sulk to yourself, knowing inside that the game is almost up.

  265. Um

    @Spence
You made yourself clear enough to transmit your stand- and viewpoint.
I happen to stand somewhere else and from there things are seen differently.
I have never found any where a mystic going out into the world doing “good” or addressing his followers to do so.
The things you mention are a means to an end … see the Buddhist practice for example. They stress ahimsa but for whom do they stress it?
For the objects or the subjects?
To my knowledge they are seldom or not all involved in caritative practices, they just stress ahimsa as a “means to an end” for the Buddhist himself.
Christians do it. For them it is a goal and a tool also to spread their word. That is why I called it Christian attributes.
In whatever I read from people like Rumi, I never came across and advise to go out into the world to do good and if it was done it was said for the betterment of the disciple

  266. Spence Tepper

    Hi Jesse
    You wrote
“You mean the Sikh gurus then.”
Nice effort to pivot, but no banana.
The Gurus I refer to as Sant Sat Gurus are only the ones who meet the conditions discussed, and written about by the mystics named. Nanak and Kabir were on that list.
But as to who is actually is a Sant Sat Guru, that really, functionally, can’t be known. Looking to the top of the mountain from the bottom we may see many climbers and have little perspective to judge their height.
But the basics of decency, of a simple life focused on spirituality and not material gain, helpfulness, generosity, non – violence, these qualities anyone can see. Saints have more qualities than these. But these are the minimum. If they don’t have these, they aren’t even climbing on the mountain. Those without even these simple attributes are, IMHO, the false Gurus.

  267. Jesse

Ok Spence. So you want to arbitrarily borrow someone else’s religion and it’s terminology, and arbitrarily change all their meanings and definitions because of your own politics. Really cool.

That’s tragic. It’s all they do with their free time, when they aren’t in meditation or teaching. They are living in the Lord’s Seva, opening all the centers to refugees. Because they see the Lord in these meak and dispossessed. They are all fountains of Shabd, and the Master dines serving them.

  277. Jesse

“Is that “ethnic cult” called the “human race”…”
No, it’s not. Human is a species. Race is a colloquial term denoting a taxinomical category like subspecies, or some other class of distinct groups within a species. Like how Asian elephants and African elephants aren’t the same “race” because their ears look different or whatever. Humans are also an animal, Dungeness.
Imagine if doctors used political correctness guidelines from you sociopaths and just gave the same meds and blood to everyone lol. We’d all die really fast.

  278. Jesse

“Let these be your criteria, Um, for judging a true Sant Sat Guru. ”
Well since you never met Guru Nanak or Mirabai or any of the other figures you were told to worship, maybe you shouldn’t make assumptions about their politics??? Nah, that’d take all the fun away from thinking you’re some enlightened being saving souls online.
“2nd half of Sikhism were not spiritual Guru’s they were religious and cultural leaders who were forging a society of Sikhs aligned within their respective political framework between Hindu and Muslim overlords. And then came the British. ”
You’d likely get smashed in the face for saying that in a lot of places. But hopefully you try it somewhere in a remote village near Gurdaspur during an AKJ satsang.

  279. Spence Tepper

I’m sorry Jesse I didn’t mean to suggest I’d meet Nanak, and crowd your territory.

  280. Jesse

“I’m sorry Jesse I didn’t mean to suggest I’d meet Nanak”
You’re not even getting my sarcasm (it’s the density).
The point is that you’re a typical new ager trying to borrow terms from religions, interpret them through the vacuous (Real Manjit hours in this beeyotch) RS lens, and then act like you’re an expert. Does anyone in the world need Spence Tepper to tell them who the REAL satguru is? What about the TRUE boddhisatva? Are satgurus bodhisatvas? Are bodhisatvas the bab? Was the bab a christ? I don’t know man. I gotta ask Spence Tepper who will in turn ask “The inner master” which is also his imagination and a thing he heard about in a book.
Whatever these ancient and supposedly spiritual people’s professions and political leanings may have been wouldn’t matter to you anyway. You’re not interested in what they said or did or what their influences and necessary philosophical predecessors were ie you don’t accept the Bhagvad Gita’s guru, its monarchist politics, or the fact that there’d be no Sikhism, and thus no RS, without that book, but you also don’t accept or know Sikh teachings, yet you claim to know if it’s true or not and who is REAL and TRUE.
Run on sentence for the win.
It’s all new age poseur bs. You should be at Harold Klemp’s guided dream seminars. Or you could, you know, not pretend to be a spiritual master online with the pretense to authoritative claims to who and what is a REAL SantSatGuru™.
Join the real cult with me. The cult of admitting that I don’t know shit, and I know none of you know shit either.

  281. Whodunit

If you don’t know shit then stfu about anything related to any ‘religious’ or RSSB matter because by your own admission you ‘don’t know shit’.
As for Sikhs history and religion which became entrenched as a religious entity during and after Arjan’s tenure as 5th Sikh guru, that’s how all religious institutions begin and become self entitled assumptions as ‘beholders of truth’.
Once anyone got a book to enshrine as the ‘word of the most high’ is when gullible idiots who don’t know shit begin to promulgate their book as the holy book above all others holy books. And enforce it by force if necessary.
As did ‘holy’ Roman empire over all its subjects and Muslim oppression under Mogul tyranny by warlords who used religious nationalism as a form of tyranny and oppression to subjugate their dominions.
Example of reducing humans to religiously indoctrinated nations.
‘The Partition was supposed to solve the religious conflict between Muslims and Hindus. Yet, conflicts and tensions still exist today. The destruction of the Babri Mosque in 1992 by Hindu nationalists is a clear example. The mosque was built in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on a site claimed by Hindus as the sacred birth place of one of their gods. Disputes between Muslims and Hindus over the site began as early as 1949, with each side fighting for ownership of the land. Tensions escalated steadily with the conflict reaching its climax in 1992 when supporters of the Hindu nationalist political party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) destroyed the mosque. This led to nation-wide riots that resulted in the death of over 2000 people.’

‘Nationalism calls forth certain virtues of love and self-sacrifice that can be both productive and dangerous because of their proximity to the virtue of religion. Yet even the most high-minded nationalism cannot seem to do without the more visceral kinds of energy that nationalist rhetoric marshals: the exaltation of “us” and the demonisation of “them.”

No, no, you’re right. I was referring to a Guru’s lens since they

    Hi Anami
Devotion to the Master is a core foundational principle in Sant Mat.
    How can one practice otherwise?
To truly believe we have found the unalloyed truth, pure, without compromise, without question. And that this Truth is Love. And so this love, this pure love for the Master is really the Master loving us, His purity, since we are impure.
The Satsangi has so many positive internal verifications from this kind of devotion, this serves as their proof, their evidence, which is directly obtainable every day, at different levels. At any and every level of devotion there is verification of internal experience and evidence.
When other people try to suggest this is illusion, or self – generated, or simply false, this can be very hard to consider. When we question our own experience we are living in denial.
And both undermine the peace and harmony, the joy and ecstacy of believing that there is nothing but pure love here. Of our worship and devotion for the Master, and of experiencing the reward of that love and worship.
These are also mechanisms built into the body and brain. We were meant for it, just as we were meant to live loving, helpful and peaceful lives that help us to experience this love to ever greater degrees. And when we do not protect that atmosphere, we do harm to ourselves and others around us.
The Master teaches us about this practice which resonates directly with mechanisms within us. Hence our foundation becomes unshakable. Whatever hard facts of a worldly and contrary nature that come to light, we have a supply of evidence internally to the truth of the teachings and the subject of our devotion, the Master, and we can get as much and more of that, at our level, simply by daily practice, and even moment-by-moment practice.
How do we reconcile the two conflicting realities?
One must be right, the other wrong. Well, that itself is a psychology. And a belief. The psychological condition where apparent contradictions must, defacto, result in one truth and the rest false.
Science is a mechanism to separate one truth from other false beliefs. So this psychology gains some surface credibility referring to science.
But science, true science in practice, often leads to a different outcome. The discovery of new factors that explain the apparent discrepancy. That both observed events are factual.
The old laws are refined to accommodate new discoveries. But some of the old laws, refined, turn out to be truthful, and the evidence of the past, still valid within the revised definitions.
A fifth law in physics has just been discovered, because it solves many such conflicts.
Science would have ended long ago if it limited itself to one right and everything else wrong.
But instead what science teaches is that Truth is a developing target. Our understanding becomes refined.
In that light, no information should be dismissed as invalid and rejected. Neither internal nor external.
It is possible, in theory, that God, while benificent, is also a thief. It is all part of reality. But I think more realistically, the human expression of divinity must be in the form we can wholly devote ourselves to. Our form of God needs to be completely good without question, not flawed but were we must ignore or try to push that into the background in denial. That’s what we worship. And worship, to be effective, must be with our whole heart and one pointed. Not divided, even subconsciously. We start as divided. The purpose of Spirituality is to integrate and reunite us with the deeper parts of ourselves. Spirituality, the Word, Nam, is the ultimate unifying principle.
So therefore it is helpful to that devotion to understand our own criteria for a good teacher, which is our current mental conception. And the degree to which our devotion is in line with that. And to let ourselves develop, to integrate these diverse things so that our internal condition is peaceful, uncomplicated, clear, and our resulting devotion is singular.
Conceptions may change as we develop. It is our progress that is most important.
Therefore the evidence may not be strong enough to draw a conclusion of right or wrong, but only suggest that our understanding is incomplete.
But that can’t be an excuse to ignore facts, because understanding all the facts, internal and external, better, makes for progress.
When people reject inner experience, they limit their progress.
When people reject external evidence, they limit their progress.
Let’s accept and embrace the evidence of our practice to continue it. Let’s acknowledge as developing evidence what is being presented in the press.
It is legitimate based upon developing evidence.
And let us accept the different working hypotheses as all on the table for the time being. And their proponents worthy as colleagues, even if impassioned to insist their hypotheses are truth. Some elements of truth may be in them.

  292. Jesse

820 words, Spence. You just wrote 820 words that I can summarize in 5.
    “I am in a cult.”

  293. X17

“A fifth law in physics has just been discovered, because it solves many such conflicts.”
    Spence,
You presumably mean the fifth force and not fifth law. Anyways the paper just suggests that the sub-atomic particle could be indicative of a fifth force. Nothing confirmed as yet.

  294. Spence Tepper

    Hi X17
Yes, it is preliminary, and alternative theories are being developed as we speak. Still, this is mature work by two scientists who have replicated this phenomenon, which they reported initially some time ago. The phenomenon is most likely a real event, and this is why they rushed to get their theory published because, now that the event is verified, everyone will attend to it, as they are beginning to do, developing alternative explanations. Of course those doesn’t change what we already know, but refines it.
But both strong and weak forces were unknown 200 years ago.
We will have new laws. Of course they aren’t new. We will discover them. And our understanding will develop.

  295. Spence Tepper

    Jesse, you wrote
    “I am in a cult.”
Well I don’t think you are a cult just yet, though you have written a few hundred words yourself.
Lets just say that my proclivity is to build explanations of actual events that acknowledge the good and the bad. So that we can learn the power of open and diverse thinking, and collegial respect.
And your proclivity is to build explanations that dismiss the good and inflate the bad, so that fear of anything different becomes predominant, they only lesson is isolation and distrust of outsiders and complete obedience to your chosen authority.
You and I were raised differently.
And we have different careers. Yours must include destruction and domination in the service of the status quo.

Yes, Spence. I’ve always loved our Masters more in the abstract than the concrete, so I don’t feel much different really. In a strange way I feel better, perhaps for the sense of dissonance. It makes the relationship more participatory, like the difference between going out for good food and cooking in my own kitchen. Who cares if the chef at the restaurant is an alcoholic, as long as I’m not.

    Regarding Rumi´s Guesthouse.
Again you and I might read and understand that poem as underlining one´s point of view.

As I wrote before as example the Buddhist who preach ahimsa etc etc, they eat meat and have the animals killed by Muslims, maybe thinking that ho karma will fall on their plate and they are not involved in caritative institutions as Christians do.
An pelgrim on the path is admonished by mystics, to be kind to whoever crosses their path but they are also warned not to stray from that path with the intention to do good in the world or make the world better.
But again I can be totally wrong … this is just my understanding.

N E V E R That would be a disgrace If I feel attracted to a so called human being, emotionally, intellectually, I might go to him but these mental considerations are in no way an statement about that human being. And you can leave that burning house for a better land the moment you take the hand of a refugee. They are children born in the land you seek, and when you cross with them that makes you their relative, family, so that you may enter where foreigners are not permitted.
It is true they need your help. But you may only enter carrying them across the threshold with you, even as a father or mother carries their infant home from the hospital, Or as a man carries his new bride across the threshold. This is no burden. This is pure joy.
Make the stranger, the indigent, the refugee, the aged and the infirm your new children, Um. They are only children. But you must become a child with them to enter the gates of heaven.
You see perfection in the Master. That has no love in it.
Find perfection in the refuge, the handicapped, the addict. The ones who are bullied, they ones who have lost everything. They will be your true Master, and you may have their company as much as you like.
Let this be the true measure of your love of the Master. That you see Him in the eyes of the refugee, the handicapped, the aged and infirm.
That you are so captivated you cannot look away.

For the mystics themselves do not stray from the path to do good in the world or make the world better.

  315. Um

    @Spence
    That were quite impressive answers.
Writing this sentence, I am reminded of an letter of an American Psychologist in which he explains that he deals with satsangis differently than non satsangis as one had to adapt to this world and the other not.
As smart one wrote: “For the mystics themselves do not stray from the path to do good in the world or make the world better” Whatever I read from mystics, they never lived the live of say a Sister Theresa, they all lived a sheltered, recluse way, often hidden in woods or mountain caves.
Those of lesser grade, stay in remote monasteries, like the Cartusians or as recluse.
What you wrote so impressive about looking into the eyes of the needy, is considered by them, I hardly dear to write it, as a trap … like other more attractive traps that draws the attention outward.
All animals hunt in a different place.
Some eat everything some are very selective.
Those who work within the closure of their rooms, the composers, the writers, the scientists and many more, cannot present their gifts to the world by working in refugee camps. Someone has to drive the train, teach children, work in an hospital et etc Some have to live a sheltered life and others in the public. Others are in the government or organisation of the UNO in charge of public welfare. Some docters and nurses go and work in the frontlines of misery.
Crows are born to be crows … to try to paint their beak yellow and teach them to sing like Nightingales is an affront towards the creator who when he created to crow said that it was good when he saw the work of his hand.
Finally the pull must come from within … that pull is the talent, the calling, worldly and spiritualy.
    And .
Millions upon millions are glad they will have some shelter, a piece of food, they have no time, no lust, to indulge in writings as we do, their lives is utter misery from the start to te end.
Nobody can end that misery …. NOBODY …Christ called it a vale of tears.
If it is your calling Spence to act according what you write … go for it.
It is “A” way to go not “THE” way

    Everything in balance.
But this path of Seva is part and parcel of building and maintaining the spiritual environment for meditation. They go hand in hand. It is simply bringing one’s own life into balance.
It is the path. Because our path is always crossed with those in need, every day. That’s not an occasional event, unless we live in substantial isolation and denial. Let’s open our eyes!
But you can see how this tiny latitude, to be sure you are safe first, has been exploited into justifying a caste system. And the tiny latitude to be comfortable, is now the justification for excess and exploitation.
How the mind drives the car off road and into the ditch again and again.
Whatever teaching places charity and service as separate from our own development is no true path. It has already lost its way.
But is that RSSB? Was that RSSB? Or what we make of it?
How easily one tiny drop of poison ruins the entire water supply.
If we forget brotherhood all the meditation in the creation won’t help us move one step.

If you will please recall Maharaji’s teachings on this he said that this notion of mystics living secluded in the Himalayas, or in caves away from civilization is wrong. We take our mind with us.
Our place is where we find ourselves, and there are always those in need right in front of us. They are everywhere, in our own family, at the market place, and locations where we may volunteer not more than a twenty minute drive from our homes. Serving them helps us control our own mind, humble us, reminds us we are no different.
This is the foundation of brotherhood.
How easily the mind forgets the path!
But we can all remind each other. We are all in the same boat, pauper, professional, poacher, pickpocket and philanthropist. And we should comfort each other on this small crossing.

This may be the foundation of brotherhood but certainly not the foundation sant mat.
The first and foremost Seva and essential too is Bhajan Simran and being detached (therefore largely remaining unaffected by circumstances/happenings around) whilst living in this world is what it’s all about. In fact all Masters have been explicitly clear about this bit.
A full on selfish path, I not giving brotherhood much thought, have not only taken one step, but many ^many steps in my meditation.
    .

  322. Jesse

“Your answer was your momma and money.
    Was that insincere?”
    Yes.
Also your words about RSSB remind me of all the gibberish from Paul in the Bible. Almost like you’re channeling him.
The faith is whatever you feel like at the moment, and changes depending on what questions you’re being asked. There’s an absolutely unnecessary attempt to dazzle people with lofty sounding ideas that sound more political than spiritual or divinely inspired.
Unlike you today, RS, like most indic religions, does not prioritize seva, and certainly not for reasons of “brotherhood” or the family of humanity. Far greater emphasis is placed on detachment and not being part of this world, and seva is usually done in service of gurus, not people. Look at India for over 1 billion examples of this system and its adherents.
Helping people is sometimes considered a negative thing because it causes attachment. This is why there’s no social time at satsangs. Wouldn’t want people to start helping each other and knowing each other.
You might have noticed that all the RS gurus married within their caste as well. They’re not western liberals. They’re tribalists. They don’t care about brotherhood and humanity outside that context.

If your objective is personal gain then you have your path.
But if your objective is personal development, that cannot progress without brotherhood. Because we are all one, spiritually.
When you actually see Baba Ji in the face of the old destitute drunk with the shopping cart full of rags on the highway, you won’t wait for him to ask for anything. You will first be shocked to see Baba Ji there. Then you will stop the car, step out, and place money into his hands, enjoin him to spend it for food and shelter, and not anything else. It will br an automatic reaction.
And then to see that old man reeking in alcohol, with Baba Ji’s face, return the money into your hands and smile and say, “child, I’m fine, I don’t really need this.” And then all you can say is, “you didn’t need to ask for it, that’s the point.” And then watch him smile and hand the money to the destitute woman with her card board boxes a few steps away.
I can’t begin to explain what happened. But I was the one who drove away weeping like a child.
    You have no idea.
He is everywhere you are not willing to go.

    Hi Jesse
What do you love more than yourself?
Your answer was your momma and money, but you claimed this was an insincere answer.
What would be the sincere answer?

You might have noticed that all the RS gurus married within their caste as well. They’re not western liberals. They’re tribalists. They don’t care about brotherhood and humanity outside that context.

No, I don’t think so. Under Maharaj Charan Singh, the Dera ran free eye
camps for many years. Tens of thousands of the impoverished needing
cataract surgery came from all over India. Although I haven’t been there
for decades, I suspect various other charity services continue today. The
trappings may appear tribal but the reality is quite different. They embrace
    all of humanity.

  326. Spence Tepper

    Hi Dungeness
The charity of the Dera is one thing. Yes, it is a living miracle.
Your charity and mine are another. But they can be the same. And if they are not the same, have we made a lasting progress?
I didn’t come here to go to the Regions. That was already there. It was handed to me. It’s part of my biology. I came here to learn and live in brotherhood. And I’m not going anywhere else permanently until I do.
Is anyone else on this path so different?

Yes. I am here as me with God’s immense grace to fulfill the only objective of human birth – God Realisation.
Everything else are chains to hold/bring you back as who knows worms in the next birth.

  329. Spence Tepper

    Hi Smart
    Your wrote
“Yes. I am here as me with God’s immense grace to fulfill the only objective of human birth – God Realisation.”
My God sings in every atom of the creation. I reaslize God every instant I forget myself in helping someone else.
And not just me. Many others, too. I learned about it from real Sat Gurus, not the stage actors in turbans and turbo-jets people seen addicted to.
The secret of God realization, the secret of overcoming self is to lose yourself in selfless service. It is instant bliss. The layers of ego, the meditation work of ages is shed in a moment of compassion.
With the poorest of the poor He is there.
And when I turn from those in need, I am lonely for my God.
Where is that beautiful refuge, where can you escape the simple duties of just being a decent human being? That path of fighting with yourself never ends. There is no end to overcoming yourself. There is no getting over yourself without service.
You think God realization is a way around that, a short cut past compassion? Meditation is a substitute for humanity?
    Funny how the mind works.
Don’t you know that God IS compassion. That is all he is.
God has no door. Humans make a door and then close it on each other.
    And call that wisdom?

Huh? Where did get that information?
Dr. Pawha, the chief surgeon, was Indian as were over two
hundred other doctors. About thirty were non- Indian, all
providing services gratis. Not to speak of the 7K volunteers
involved in the seva according to the video. The Dera
provided operations, food, and lodging for patients and
    their families, again for free.
    Difficult to watch without tears.

“I came here to learn and live in brotherhood. And I’m not going anywhere else permanently until I do. ”
Start living in brotherhood by not supporting the most destructive political policies that have ever been implemented on earth, and that are responsible for maximum human suffering.

  332. Spence Tepper

    Hi Jesse
You asked me to live as you do
“By not supporting the most destructive political policies that have ever been implemented on earth, and that are responsible for maximum human suffering.”
    In your humble opinion?
Perhaps being as polarized as you are it seems so.
But being polarized also has the danger of living in an ever smaller and smaller world.
And everything outside that tiny and shrinking space, hardly enough room for oneself, is so very much “the most destructive” and “maximum human suffering” by “tribalists” in a world filled with “atrocity propaganda”, experiencing “mental crises regularly”, where people who don’t think like you are to be hated and feared, in turns, because of their “superstitious bullshit”. And indeed from your tiny space it seems all one can do is watch “All these Africans keep raping old ladies in nursing homes”.
Yet from all that you claim to know how to live in brotherhood?
But you haven’t answered my question, to know sincerely what you love more than yourself.
I know what you hate, it’s all over you. It’s your entire winter wardrobe. And in tiny your South Pole igloo, living in an ice box home, that’s the only wardrobe you ever wear.
But I suspect there’s a Hawaiian shirt somewhere in your closet. One with big flowers and surfboards.
Try it on. It might still fit.

  333. Jesse

You’re amazingly dishonest and/or naive Dungeness. You probably weren’t aware that most of the “sevadars” at the dera are paid. It’s one of the reasons I suspect they discouraged us from talking to them when I was there.
The money required for such an operation such as the eye camp doesn’t fall from the sky or from the one rupee donations of people who eat 15 rupees of food every time they visit.
The reason such videos bring tears to your eyes is because you’re highly susceptible to propaganda.

  334. Jesse

I’m guessing The Smart One is Indian since he actually understands the foundation of sant mat, whereas Spence is trying to morph sant mat to conform to Judaism’s tikkun olam philosophy that also took root in Protestantism.
Sant mat is not western liberal humanism or an Abrahamic faith. Get it through your heads. No indic religion works that way.

Is anyone else on this path so different? << Yes!! What they have is believe based upon "hearsay" from the rare people like you and the "bigger ones" that came to write the so called "holy books". What Rumi, Kabir, The prophet, Tolle etc etc etc wrote is all trance based

I agree there were seva donations… both cash and equipment. But
you would seem to hint there were secret, if not nefarious, financing
conduits for these eye camps… that it was all a P.R. stunt of some kind.
You assert this without evidence. Then you boldly claim “most of the
sevadars are paid”. How do you know? Cite any evidence for that.
Trolling becomes disinformation when not informed by facts. Even worse
it masquerades as truth when, in reality, it’s often a lie… even a vile,
loathsome lie such as the comment that “no one died in gas chambers”.
Further, when challenged, trollers inevitably fail to offer any defense
because they can’t. They simply repeat the lie in a louder voice or go
silent and slink back into the shadows.
Trolling is no longer harmless fun at that point.

I wonder if GSD will also flee India, to another country that will host him, once the Courts try to put him in Jail? Bakram is still giving the Couts his middle FINGER, and is still recruiting females to his Yoga Teachers 9 week Intensive trading work shops, in spite of Rape judgement against him. His Wife knew all about his sexual activities with the young attractive Yoga females he hit on, but she ignored it and kept driving her Bentley. Netflex has in interesting Documentary of Bakram Yoga .

  338. Whodunit

I like the way these ‘depraved’ ‘satsangis’ link GSD with the likes of these other goons like Ram Rahim and this Hollywood yoga instructor Choudry or the likes of Osho Rajneesh
    Laughable.

  339. Whodunit, you’re right. There’s really no comparison between what Gurinder Singh Dhillon allegedly has done, and the other spiritual wrong-doers. The RSSB guru is in a league of his own. Who else reportedly enriched himself/herself to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars while preaching about the need to lead a clean and simple life? Only Dhillon.

  340. Whodunit

    Yeah Brian you should know
With all the inside info of how big a mafia boss he (supposedly) is
After all you wrote the treatise on how it works as Life is Fair without excuse or exception.
Does not a leaf stir without the silent will of the one who wills it.
    Or should we quote Gibran
‘And as a single leaf turns not yellow but with the silent knowledge of the whole tree,
So the wrong-doer cannot do wrong without the hidden will of you all.’

  341. Jesse (Bobby Fischer Stan)

Whodunit, let’s say everyone who is at least somewhat confident in Gurinder’s guilt ends up being correct and the justice system agrees and punishes him with a prison sentence. What will you do?

  342. Whodunit

What would you do Bobby Fischer Stan? Rejoice at the eye for eye, tooth for tooth delivery of Kal’s Justice?
Huzur Charan Singh’s appointment of Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon as patron is a mistake in your establishment of jurisprudence? You have no leverage to make such a claim, your lenses of discerning are not sufficient to verify righteous ‘law’ from irreverence.
After all Pilot crucified Christ at the behest of the seething religious mob
Herod Antipas beheaded John at his wife’s jealous insisting
Mansur was brutally tortured and crucified by the ‘righteous indignation’ of the ‘politically correct holder’s of Islamic law’ for proclaiming “Anā al-ḥaqq” (“I am the Truth”—i.e. God)
    Jahangir beheaded Arjan likewise
Aurungzeb murdered his brother Dara Shikoh and turned his blood lust vengeance on his guru Sarmad for refuting allegiance to state Muslim Decree, beheaded in a mosque by order of the Muslim emperor for heresy and accused of being an apostate.
All under who’s views of rights and wrongs?
Why should any mystics fare differ from the ‘norm of society’ under the rules of Ceasars and the dictates of the ‘lucidity’ of the ‘sane’ among you?
They don’t operate by Jahangir or Aurungzeb or Ceasars decree nor by your laws of supporting your irrefutable desire for vengeful ‘justice’.

It took many years of private female abuse of Bikram, before ONE finally surfaced, confessing she was raped by the Guru , in his own house, with his wife up stairs with their two children. Then, more guilty abused females also surfaced. Then, his own private female Business Manager also ratted on him, who knew all along that he was a sexual predator, but like the others, she did not want to loose her comfortable position. The other abused females all put up with him molesting and hitting on them, because they had to survive the 9 weeks Yoga Training School they had paid $10,000 to attend to franchise their own Yoga Studios using his high profile Name. So he had a captive audience ,mostly, of young attractive fit, females. The Netfex Documentary showed how he not only flirted with many of the young females, he took a shine to, but his language got more abusive and sexual as he became more familiar with each group. He really Reminded me very much like I heard GSD talk to his Western Satsangis at the Dera when I was there in Oct.. 2017. If Sheena’s Book is read carefully, to review how GSD spoke to her, and trashed her in front of not only his Wife, but others, and how he flirts with the young adoring females asking him for his blessings,…and not forget him asking a 68 year old Nutrition Doctor if he still thought of his wife’s Butt, or knew what a 69 was, then add up all the Financial Fraud News Articles, In addition to his closing off most of the historic Buildings of the Dera, for his own private use, as Chris posted,…I think it’s only a matter of time before there will be a Documentary on Netflex exposing RSSB as the Cult of Singh’s., with GSD as the Star.
