I’m confused about Ishwar Puri. There’s a 2016 interview in which he says that he doesn’t initiate but only acts as a representative of his own guru, Sawan Singh. Sawan Singh passed 71 years ago. Therefore, isn’t Ishwar’s practice in direct conflict with Sawan Singh’s own teaching, which stressed the importance of a living Master? Was Ishwar only being quiet about his own status as a living Master? Which Radiant Form do Ishwar initiates anticipate, that of Ishwar Puri or that of Sawan Singh?

Nothing more needs to be added.
Anyone can teach the method. But ideally the best teachers were humbled students of a great teacher themselves.
If you believe in the “perfect teacher” idea this certainly helps maintain focus through all the challenges of meditation. But as we can see, results in a lot of corruption also. The idea itself of a perfect Master, as part of the dogma, makes a teaching into a religion. The idea is imperfect and does not reflect the objective reality of the path within.
But as to whether any human being is closer to God than any other, that just isn’t so. We are all equal in worth and are made of God… About $16 of chemicals….

Well, Spence, that could be, but I’m asking a much narrower question, a question of doctrine as given by Ishwar. It’s clear that Sawan Singh taught the importance of a living Master and to reach the Radiant Form of that same Master within as a specific step on the Path. In the interview Ishwar Puri purports to initiate on behalf of Sawan Singh. I have to assume Ishwar teaches the same philosophy and method, otherwise he couldn’t call it “Great Master’s initiation.” So which Radiant Form does Ishwar say to expect, the Radiant Form of Sawan Singh or the Radiant Form of Ishwar Puri? Any Ishwar people out there?

Good questions. I believe, if Ishwar is citing Sant Mat dogma, you will see the master who was alive and who Initiated you. By that dogma, those who are initiated by Ishwar will see Ishwar, their living teacher.
All Masters, according to the dogma, are simply acting under assignment of their own Master. Great Master said he was following Jaimal Singh’s orders, Charan Singh said he was following Great Master’s orders, etc..

So, again, you divined malign intent without waiting for the investigation

possibility of mitigating explanations I assume?

Please read the articles again. The mechanisms for turning off the aileron flap switches Boeing outlines would work but were non-standard. The primary standard failsafe was the choke release, which, to save money, Boeing also disabled without telling anyone, and worse, pushed approval through FAA to delete mention of the changes in the manual. Understand, even the FAA did not know the choke override had been removed.
Your trust in official bodies to know better than you or ought to be a little shaken by this.
As the articles stated, Boeing could get away with this because they had siloed the certification process into so many separate stages of technical work that no one could put the whole together. And with cuts to FAA, their capacity b to double check had also been reduced.
Removing redundant sensors, removing standard autopilot override mechanisms, and removing any mention of this in the flight manual, on the other hand, is unlikely to take place all by chance.
You have to have a system of corner cutting to get all three into this cluster.

Yes, that’s correct. Boeing certainly miscalculated the safety and cost saving
efficiencies that they hoped MCAS would achieve. And, no question, they
were in a competive rush.
But these changes were all related to over-reliance on MCAS as I understand it.
This wasn’t disparate random corner cutting. More like over-reliance of software.
Notwithstanding theories Boeing siloed the cert. process in nefarious ways, the
MAX underwent careful flight testing and was certified by Boeing and the FAA to
fly safely. Miscalculation, yes. Deliberate recklessness, ridiculous in my opinion.
It’s easy to second-guess every innovative feature that fails. As one of the articles
points out AirBus was faulted for an early accident when it pioneered fly-by-wire.
It turned out to be pilot error.
But, this all misses the point. Reading a couple of articles and going off on a riff to
sermonize about what happened in Boeing in hindsight and then attribute it in
stark terms as “reckless” is absurd. Moreover, this is occurring presumably without
expertise of your own in aerodynamics or knowledge of aircraft manufacturing,
and certainly without fairly weighing alternative explanations or possible mitigating
factors.
No citation of Boeing’s own ongoing investigations either. They were evidently
discounted as transparent cover-up’s even with Boeing’s enviable record for quality
and safety over decades.
In fact, “malign intent” or “reckless cost-cutting” isn’t established at all. Armed with
a cursory look at a few magazines, there was a leap to the soapbox to pontificate
about corporate greed and corruption festering in Boeing. Yep, the clear takeaway
is the big “B” is sliding over to the dark side.
It’s eerily similar to the pattern of reading articles about the scandals roiling RSSB and
then shouting “Gurinder, pay your bills”. No fairness, no trial. Accusers, uncredentialed
legally, wade right in. They distill the “usual suspects” down to a party of one. “Open
and shut case. Guilty!” they bark.

Just wanted to tell any ex satsangis that if you left the radha soami thing, and because of the mass marketing by his brother who is more corrupt and filthy even than Osho himself, think you should give it a chance- don’t. It’s the worst book I’ve ever come across in my life and I feel bad that anyone is so stupid to think this trash was worthy of being published. Goes to show how corrupt the publishing industry is. They want you to be stupid and to embarrass yourself when discussing spiritual ideas with others. That’s the only logical reason anyone would push Osho onto the public. As an attack.
Osho’s blathering is like radha soami satsang by a heroin addict who was born with cerebral palsy and fetal alcohol syndrome. You will become more cultish and dumb than even rs could make you and eventually start wearing ridiculous hats with glitter on them.
Go back to the classics if you need Indian/eastern philosophy. Get a book of the principal upanishads. Read a collection of Zen koans. But do not get into Osho unless you really need to make yourself more stupid and require a brain full of fake Buddhist quotes and methods for no reason whatsoever, or if you need that extra boost of inspiration to go beyond normal clinical depression and into suicide mode.

There are some here who routinely decry the basic observation of historical or social patterns as “conspiracy” unless the BBC produces a “high brow” “documentary” about the events 20 or 30 years afterward and provides the official facts, opinions and talking points.
But to those who deny that humans are social beings who socialize ie conspire to achieve fame, power or whatever objective, give me a rational explanation for the predominance of RUSH in prog rock radio play.
Rush is unquestionably the worst prog rock band and it could be argued the worst band of any genre in the history of recorded music.
Other than conspiracies and band members sleeping with record execs, I challenge you to provide an explanation for why they didn’t flop in record sales and disappear after their first album.

There are many people who have stood guard during GSD’s official visits abroad, including me. There’s nothing humiliating about it. At the time you feel privileged for the honor. Writing books or giving satsangs, or any other seva is considered a privilege. With this privilege comes arrogance, entitlement and ego. I found myself doing it or becoming aware of it and it made me sick. A lot of people have it, and a few don’t.
One example of this is that all sevadars have to park away from the main hall. But hey, if you’re in the “Management Team”, you can park right next to the main doors. Some even have the balls to park in the handicap spots because they don’t want to have to walk the extra 20 feet.
Once you understand the behind the scenes antics of the senior sevadars at these RSSB locations, you find nepotism. Majority of these individuals don’t get rotated in the seva rotation. It’s created a a kind of class system within the sevadars. If you have a degree or high education, you certainly can’t put them out in the scorching heat to park cars or do pat downs. What nonsense!
When they can’t find any higher educated individuals to man the “cushy” seva’s they go down the totem pole to the next group of people. Kind of like the Hindu caste system… Brahmins, the Khatriya’s an so on. If you’ve been coming for seva for years but don’t meet the invisible criteria, then you get called next.
Of course they deny this, but when you get up close and hear the discussions and see it in action, it’s there.
Believe me or not. Just putting it out there.

When the subject is Gurinder, it makes you look insane to object to Gurinder being talked about. Most people here are ex satsangis, and we’re not gonna focus on Godhwani or the Gurus sons and wife because we were never in those peoples cults, nor do any of those people have anywhere near the amount of status and power.

Ishwar Puri is a cool communicator, even at his old age. Has a different way of connecting to his audience. I’ve seen quite a few of his Youtube videos, and he’s not preaching, he’s having a conversation. Very refreshing, not a like a sermon in Church or at an RSSB satsang, which can be a bit heavy and dogmatic.
At the end of the day, he’s just a disciple of Sawan Singh who has attracted people to him because he has stories about him and is a great communicator. That’s what draws people to him. Other than his different delivery of Sant Mat, he’s just a knock off of RSSB.
Before you get your shorts in a knot about his initiations, David Lane did extensive experiments on students in his classes and was able to show them experiences with sound and light on their first attempt. Nothing magical there. He did this over and over with different classes over the span of a few weeks. Choose to believe in what you want to believe in. Use some discretion and do your homework.

My view is that the court has made its determination. Like Enron, we don’t actually know the individual players and can only comment on the news reports and the court documents. They do not go away.

I have to say it becomes a slippery slope trying to justify the actions of GSD based on the filings and the court order to pay the money back. We can only speculate at the level of money he is directly being called out on, since the bulk of it actually is in both of his son’s names, and probably invested jointly with him. I have to reiterate, who cares how much. It’s the fact that there is money owed. If it was owed, why didn’t he pay it back? Why is the court forcing him and his family members to pay it back?
If a good friend came to you and said I’m thinking of following an Eastern religion with a guru as it’s head, and asked you for your opinion, what would you say to the friend? “I did my homework, looks like he’s involved in fraudulent money siphoning, under court orders to pay, along with his family and close friends.” Would you advise your good friend to join the religion and start following this guru, in good conscience, would you really?

They must repay fraudulent loans.
But, that thirst for fairness must extend to the accused to. The narrative here

My friends and family, whom I’ve discussed this story, are very sympathetic, for I’ve been Satsangi for some time.
But they all believe as you have sarcastically written, that he took advantage of the situation to enrich himself.
I have no idea. He simply needs to pay his bills, and for me, all is restored.
But its only those on the path or close to the Master (at least in their heart) who are insulted by the possibility that he has human failings and human strengths.
Everyone else expects it. What you wrote sarcastically is how others from the outside see this. And they don’t say “he’s a crook” because they are polite. They look a me with concern and ask “what are you going to do now?”
But the presumption is there, and they might be right.
It is common for Gurus to be corrupt,but this is a recent development, since people are empowered to speak to their experience and to hold each other accountable.
But it is also common that the followers are the last ones to put it together.

Charan Singh fit the stereotype of Satguru better than Gurinder Singh, but did I practice? No. I gave up after a while, convinced I could never live up to Maharaj Ji’s good example. I found Gurinder’s alleged activities confusing and upsetting at first, but then I thought, “This is a Satguru? Well, then what am I so worried about?” It was very uninhibiting. Also thanks to others here for expanding my view on RS and in their perspectives on meditation. It’s back on eye level for me now, and practice feels less intimidating.
For Baba Ji initiates, no doubt, the issues are thornier, but sometimes in life you just have to work with the clay you’re given. There’s always the chance of a happy ending down the road, or that Baba Ji’s as disgruntled with the present expression of RSSB as anyone here and going to extremes as a way of driving home the need for back to basics reform.

I’m reading a great memoir called “Cartwheels in a Sari: A Memoir of Growing Up Cult” written by Jayanti Tamm, a women who was raised in the Sri Chinmoy movement. I highly recommend it! There are many similarities in her experience to that of followers of Sant Mat/GIHF as Chinmoy was also considered by his followers to be “the” avatar of the times.
Jayanti ultimately left the movement as she eventually saw Chinmoy’s true colors (highly egotistical, manipulative, vindictive, etc.)
@Brian, maybe we should start a thread for book recommendations like this? Every guru movement thinks they’re special/the right path; the more we can learn about the experiences of others, the more we can realize all these movements are old news and manipulative by their very nature.

The power that runs this creation is Shabd, as far as I can tell. We are all codified Shabd.
But mind is a huge barrier, but also a huge help. Higher mind helps us overcome lower mind. Still, Shabd pulls is through it all.
Shabd is there, the Word is there, and it hardly matters whether we hear or not. At the designated time, you go.
This idea of waving something mysterious in front of others is, I see now, fraught with problems. Each person can find so much within themselves within their conscious capacity to witness with just a little inner practice. It could be higher mind. You might witness your own ideas, and that’s Discovery also. Mindfulness is the path forward. Mindfulness that leads to inner contemplation naturally. Everything else happens in stages. Like an unfolding flower, we can’t accelerate our change that.

My daily work in healthcare…..
This is just a side thing I’m doing for Baba Ji.
And it’s simple really, just citing public data and asking for change that the individual can take steps towards.
And it’s great because Brian Ji appreciates and encourages it.
But I think Brian Ji teaches a more cautionary lesson. If you don’t do this. If you choose to be passive, if you choose not to use your voice, that changes you. That warps you. That blinds you. And so year after year, thinking you are being honest with yourself, you discover you have been lying to yourself all along. A convenient lie.
And when you wake up, after a little of the Brian Ji bulldozer, you simply can’t go back into the blindness ever again. Can’t be done.
And when you see others here reacting emotionally to the discomfort of facts, you know your just have to keep on going.
Trust your gut. Use your voice.

It would be a crucial decision point.
If I still believe He is God and I love Him should I offer to help Him out?
That’s easy enough. We should help God, right?
If I no longer believe He is God but I still love him as a person, should I help him out?
Personal decision. But it might oblige you to actually put out some effort and money.
Is it possible you and others defend Baba Ji because it saves you the trouble of having to help someone who has fallen down a well?
And it raises the ethical question of whether you would help another normal person who meant well but fell. Do we reject them or help them?
I witnessed the former in the Sangat in LA. A couple was found to be cheating and everyone acted as if they didn’t exist.
The problem with RSSB can be seen here. Despite all the claims that RSSB rejects the caste system and encourages treating each other as equals, the organization, made of human beings, perpetuates the caste system from the culture of its leaders.
Would you defend Baba Ji if you knew it would cost you greatly in money and time and you would get no spiritual payment, since he isn’t a Sat Guru, just a guy doing a job?
And are you willing to help a normal person who thought they were more, but fell?
The answer to these questions is too often no and no.
So you have here your own answer to the question of why a Sat Guru might play this game.
And He will have to continue playing it until you all have not only said ‘yes, yes’ but acted upon that promise.

If you are going to call out the believers then why not talk to them. I read this blog everyday and occasionally comment and have done so for over 10 years and its annoying to be constantly preached at with this barrage of nonsense.
You seem to be obsessed with Gurinder and I was wondering why you don’t go to the Dera and call him out? If thats not possible maybe write to him and lecture him. I guess if you “donate” the land or property, you get a customer for life. Makes sense, right? Not.
Money and religion don’t mix, but invariably, they do mix, sometimes as give and take, or land for sustaining a prominent satsangi’s business. Must be nice to keep your business going with a spiritual organization’s demand for your product, spelled out in a list of directives from the Dera.
But I guess you’ll have an answer for that also. I bet if GSD announced on the stage that he was guilty of taking the money, you all would probably say, naahh, he was testing us to see if we’d still follow him. Keep following, my friends.

You know if you were to go deeper into Indian culture, you’d find that all these names you know are just the huge popular poets of those times and not necessarily the “true saints” or whatever you tell yourself. Mirabai is considered to have been far less prolific than we think, and some would go as far as saying she wroter almost none of “her” poems.
You act like some guy who heard of the top 5 American bands and now considers himself an expert on music, not knowing that there are 1000’s of other options out there. You have no way of knowing if Mirabai was real let alone a saint, which you also don’t know if they’re real.

The teachings still hold a small place in my heart, but the path is far from where it started in the late 1800’s. The ideals and intent of the teachings are admirable, but to be honest, following the guru in that vein is a difficult thing for me comprehend in today’s time and that’s where I have come to at my current state.
For someone like you who claims to be in touch with the inner shabd, you speak contrary to that state. You should be clear of mind and heart, your comments do not reflect this. If I had these experiences as you indicate, I sure as hell wouldn’t be on here blabbing about it and wasting my energy on this blog.

Literally the antithesis of everything taught by all the gurus of RSSB and all the “saints” you like to name. The word “fun” never comes up in this ecosystem of depressing literature.
You want us all to join the cult you’re in by telling us it’s the polar opposite of what it really is. This is actually a really normal part of cult indoctrination. Jehova’s Witnesses tell you that they’re all about free will and harmony in their families, then you find out much later that all family members must fall in line or else be “shunned” by the whole community. In short, they lie to get you to join.
Telling people to have fun but also that your cult is correct is trickery. Once they join and hear the announcements in satsang advising people not to socialize or have picnics, they enter into the truth that is “sant mat.” Very standard social control stuff, but with no worldly benefit like political social control might offer.
As for “Show me one human that suffered from BBJ ?” Read Punjabi news. People lost farm land to his cult. Others were pressured out of homes and pressured to give dera all their money as widows with nowhere to go.

Sonia exceptions prove the rule. These are stories from the lives of masters and deciples that is given to us as examples. I am not very familiar with Mirabai but if you call her mental then perhaps it’s to show us that even the mental can come to a spiritual path and have the kind of love she had.
