In my previous post, “Delhi High Court ruling could be bad news for Gurinder Singh Dhillon and his family,” I shared reporting from the Indian financial press about a forensic audit required by the court that seeks to understand why a $4.6 billion arbitration award won by the Japanese pharmaceutical firm Daiichi Sankyo against Malvinder and Shivinder Singh in 2008 hasn’t been able to be paid by the Singh brothers.
Now I’m going to explain, as best I can, because this financial fraud saga is highly complex (hence the need for the forensic audit), how the guru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, seems to be involved in this mess.

Some excerpts point to why the RSSB guru has reason to fear the forensic audit.
The Delhi High Court (HC) has ordered a six-month forensic audit into the alleged dissipation of assets of former Fortis promoters Malvinder Mohan Singh and Shivinder Mohan Singh during enforcement proceedings initiated by Japanese drug major Daiichi Sankyo.
…The court observed that almost a decade had passed since execution proceedings began, while assets originally available to satisfy the award had progressively diminished.
…The audit will extend beyond the Singh brothers to banks and financial institutions involved in transactions affecting assets represented as available for satisfying the award. FHL, its directors and officers, company secretary, compliance officer, registrar and transfer agent, depositories, and other intermediaries will also come under scrutiny.
…Daiichi has alleged that the ₹4,666 crore transferred to RHT was not available for satisfying the arbitral award and has sought scrutiny of the transactions between FHL, IHH, and RHT.
The audit will also examine transactions involving entities associated with the Singh group, including Religare Capital Markets, Religare Capital Markets International (Mauritius), Religare Enterprises, Religare Finvest, and Religare Comtrade, as part of the broader exercise to trace the alleged dissipation of assets.
Lawyers said the order is significant because it moves the dispute from allegations in pleadings to a court-supervised reconstruction of the money and share trail.
…The auditor will examine pledges, share transfers and sales, sale proceeds, downstream loans, bank and demat records, board minutes, shareholder resolutions, statutory registers, emails, legal opinions, and regulatory filings, besides identifying those who proposed, approved or facilitated the transactions.
…The audit is to be completed within six months, with Daiichi bearing the initial cost. The matter has been listed for April 1, 2027.
Simply put, at one point Malvinder and Shivinder Singh apparently had enough money to pay the $4.6 billion arbitration award to Daiichi. Then they didn’t. Since Daiichi wants to be paid, the corporation wants to find out where the money they are owed went, apparently in hopes that it can be recovered to pay all or part of the arbitration award.
There could be several reasons why the assets of the Singh brothers were dissipated. One big reason alleged by Malvinder Singh is that large sums of money from companies controlled by the Singh brothers ended up in the pockets of Gurinder Singh Dhillon and his family. I wrote about this in a 2019 post, “Legal filing against Gurinder Singh Dhillon is fascinating reading.”
This is how my post starts out.
Someone sent me a copy of the legal brief filed by Malvinder Singh against his cousin, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the guru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas; the guru’s wife and children; Malvinder’s brother, Shivinder; and several cronies of the guru.
It’s fascinating reading that casts a dark light on the guru. Here’s a 16 mb PDF file:
Download Malav EOW Criminal ComplaintThis complaint has formed the basis for a number of stories in the Indian financial press (see here, here, and here). Now, obviously Gurinder Singh and the other people named in the complaint will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations of illegality.
But the complaint is very much in line with comments left on this blog from 2010 to 2014 by someone in the know. I shared their 27,000 words in “Devastating criticism of Gurinder Singh Dhillon by a RSSB insider.” So this is independent confirmation that the general tenor of what Malvinder Singh alleges in his complaint is true.
I strongly recommend reading the criminal complaint in full. Though the stories in the Indian financial press accurately reflect what is in the complaint, there’s additional details in the complaint. And it is well-written in what I assume is the style of Indian legal documents of this sort.
Here’s screenshots of parts of the complaint that struck me as particularly important, along with my comments on them.
My comments on the complaint obviously don’t make complete sense unless the complaint itself is read also. But I want to share my comments on the parts of the complaint that I felt were most important, as they provide a good overview of how Malvinder Singh claims the RSSB guru was involved in financial misdeeds.
Sunil Godhwani was the guru’s right-hand-man/close advisor for many years. Control of companies owned by the Singh brothers passed to Godhwani at the request of Gurinder Singh. This is the first mention of how Malvinder Singh viewed the guru as a spiritual guide, father figure, and mentor. Malvinder and Shivinder are initiates of Gurinder Singh, I’m pretty sure.
…This excerpt talks about how Godhwani wasn’t running the companies on his own, but was in “consultation and conspiracy” with Gurinder Singh to cheat Malvinder.
…To understand this excerpt, we need to remember that the RSSB guru is considered by devotees to be God in human form. Hence, his advice and guidance can be trusted as divine. Malvinder says that he trusted Gurinder as his spiritual guru and believed “he can do no wrong.” Almost certainly he can, though, as we’ll see in the next sections of the complaint.
…This is a central focus of the criminal complaint. Shivinder is alleged to have spent a lot of time at the Dera (RSSB headquarters) working on a conspiracy to take money from RHC (a holding company formed by the Singh brothers with many subsidiaries) and shift the money to the guru, his relatives, and others — leaving RHC with no assets but only liabilities, which obviously hurts Malvinder and other RHC shareholders.
…Via an audit, Malvinder learns that RHC is debt-ridden and wasn’t a “going concern.” This leads him to investigate what happened. He learns that his brother, Shivinder, hasn’t engaged in any sort of normal business practices, which the complaint argues shows the fraudulent intent of acquiring various companies held by RHC.
…The complaint says that Malvinder learned that the RHC companies had loaned 1006 crores, which seems to be about $142 million US dollars, to Gurinder Singh, the guru’s family, and other close associates of the guru.
…After listing the exact amounts of RHC loans that total to the $142 million, the complaint alleges that Godhwani, in collusion with Shivinder and Gurinder Singh, “intrinsically intertwined” the finances of the Dhillon family with the finances of the companies — which, as noted above, had shareholders whose interests weren’t served by taking money from RHC to give to the Dhillon’s.
…Here’s one of the motives (maybe the main motive) of Shivinder going to such lengths to funnel money into the pockets of Gurinder Singh Dhillon and his family. The guru had promised to make Shivinder the head of RSSB, taking Gurinder Singh’s place, in exchange for forgiveness of the debts owed to RHC by the guru.
…This part of the complaint says that Shivinder, in connivance with Gurinder Singh, his family, and close associates fraudulently acquired six companies in order to hide from RHC shareholders what was going on, and to shield the people who had gotten loans from RHC from having to repay the money.
…Shivinder agrees to sign a “family settlement” that absolves Gurinder Singh Dhillon of wrongdoing or criminality. But Malvinder has objections to this, as detailed in some emails included in an appendix to the complaint. Again, Malvinder alleges that his brother, Shivinder, agreed to this “in his greed to become the next spiritual head of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas.”
…When Malvinder refuses to sign the settlement agreement, things get really nasty. Malvinder says that Gurinder Singh threatened that he would be eliminated by people from the Radha Soami Satsang, and warned him that the guru is a powerful person who has friends in high places.
…Malvinder states that he has recordings of the death threats made by Gurinder Singh and can make them available as and when desired. He also has received “veiled innuendos and threats” from other members of RSSB. Not surprisingly, this has put Malvinder “under immense mental pressure and trauma.”
He’s fearful for his life, saying that if anything happens to him this will be at the “behest of Sh. Gurinder Singh Dhillon and the other accused and those working under his influence.”
This is amazing. The Radha Soami Satsang Beas guru, who supposedly is a spiritual leader, is making death threats against his cousin because Malvinder won’t agree to forgiving hundreds of millions of dollars of loans illegally made to Gurinder Singh Dhillon, his family, and close associates.
How anybody can still believe in the divinity of the guru is beyond me.
…Here the complaint says that Shivinder Singh has refused to try to recover the loan money as part of “his evil design to effectively try and write off the debt of the Dhillon Family.”
…This isn’t a victimless crime, because Fortis Healthcare will be affected, diluting the value of shares owned by investors, defrauding the public, and adversely impacting public confidence.
…Lastly, Malvinder asks that a FIR (First Information Report) be filed that sets the wheels of justice in motion. It’ll be interesting to see how this complaint fares in the Indian legal system. I’m sure there will be more twists and turns in this drama.
Well, the new twist is the forensic audit ordered by the Delhi High Court. It sure seems that the financial transactions described in Malvinder Singh’s legal complaint will be part of the forensic audit, since a prime goal is to understand how the assets of Malvinder and Shivinder Singh were dissipated. Note that Religare (the “R” in the companies shown at the top of the graphic) and Fortis transactions will be examined in the forensic audit. So this should go a long way toward making more clear how the RSSB guru and his family were involved in the dissipation of the Singh brothers assets.

And yet, GSD and his direct family, is.
We are called upon to lead honest upright lives, which is a reasonable ask of any human being. Yet, what is good for the goose, is apparently not good for the gander here.

The meeting with the drug lord was the point where my other 2 relatives questioned GSD’s character that how could he announce that the jailed person is innocent while the trial is still pending

And last triggering point is when the 2nd guru was introduced to the sangat there was never in the history of religion or spiritualism that 2 gurus were present at the same time both sitting together on one big stage and the sangat is divided into groups one says that I love hazur only and one say that we only believe GSD this happened when hazur came to the stage alone one time on stage and the whole sangat started questioning why GSD is not present their main goal of reaching god has been sidelined and the main point of discussion between the sangat now that whom to follow some run for hazur some run for gsd and they both enjoy their time being there
The history or Rumi and Shams is quite evident that the two Masters can most certainly exist at the same time. And like what happened to Shams, some can fall victim to all sorts of unbecoming accusations.
But these are just reactions. In time they will be worn away.
I laughed when I read that you had argued with relatives.
Of course none of that is necessary. Neither you nor they need approval to love whom you love.
But I laughed because I also argued long and hard for well over a year with the mystic who brought me to the path.
My arguments were over when I went to initiation. But that did not mean my weaknesses were.

Apart from the issues you put on the table, issue you an other members of the families, USE as an reason, justification, excuse to step back from the association, there is something else I would like to put on the table.
The responsibilities that persons in general have with regard to the duties of the role they have to perform might not and often does not correlate with the expectations others have from it given the meaning and value THEY ATTRIBUTE to that role.
It is the duty of the parents for example to raise the children ….they measures they take towards the children, might not be pleasing to the children … so much so that they have no problem in screaming … I hate you daddy/ mommy.

Gurus leave the affairs of the worldly welfare of the followers to them. In time when the numbers grow more of an organization is needed. For a while they will be able to not being involved to much but ultimately the numbers become that large that professional organization is needed … whether anybody likes it or not.
These organizations over time become to a have a life of their own ….what I mean by example …these great ocean cariers, if you stop the engines do not stop, they have a momentum of their own, an momentum that the captain cannot controll…..but …has to deal with.
To me it doesn’t matter at all what is going on in beas, in the same way that I never take part in discussions about Trump, and the major events in the world …as these are all elements of an tornado that is raging in this world already for decades and is even getting more strength .
But … it is neither a reason to turn my back upon what is near and dear to me.
A person with an religious and or spiritual bend of mind should not through these feelings in the trash can because of thins outside himself…why should he shoot in his own foot

@Punjab_exrssb – 100%. We are told, again a reasonable ask, to use our critical thinking skills to establish for ourselves what is and is not acceptable. In regards the newly appointed ‘guru’ – his association with Ranbaxy raises more than one eyebrow. While some hold the opinion that he was not directly involved in the wrongdoings of his direct superiors, in his particular role in that organisation, he would not have been unaware of what was going on. It all just smacks of politics, nepotism, greed and underhand activity – all seemingly without remorse. In any leadership role, a good leader leads by example. GSD and his understudy hardly bear the hallmarks of a good leader in this regard. Anyone with half a braincell will look at this and think ‘hang on a minute’.
You are only responsible for what you do in your life, for the choices YOU MAKE.
You are responsible for every identity you take on for every role you take on.
You and nobody else are responsible for your attitude towards your parents and not your parents

Two members of my family are working in different roles in schools…both have the tendency to make critical remarks about the affairs of the school.
Several times i advised and warned them NOT to taken on the role of an unaployed and unpayed director … and to concentrate on their role as teacher
You see … not only rssb as an organization is changed but almost everything else you can think of in every scene of live.
Today humanity has a whole and individually has to face and deal with things that somr decades ago were unthinkable, not even in dreams.
In those days now and then a person was stabbed to death but today where I live almost every day one or more are killed or injured.
Those that committed these crime were in general adults from more than 21years old but today they start at the age of 12.

In terms of enjoyment … I agree with you, that whatever was cheer joy, taking part in the community, starting from the after-satsang-coffee in old-fashioned lounge of krasnapolsky in Amsterdam and the tasty dinners afterwards, have all been taken in to the grave by the late mcs.
Now it is up to all and everybody to make a life as a satsangi enjoyable … not all are able and willing … and will leave one after the other the community.
THAT leaving does not only tell a story about the changes in the organization but also about the motivation of their initial calling

The priests at my local Catholic Church do not claim or looked upon as God in Human form. RSSB guru’s are. The Latin masses are theather in spiritual trappings. As a retired professional juggler, I am totally into the symphony of soul expression during the course of a 90 minute high mass.

You did as you had promised in posting this article.
It is definitely accusatory, and unfortunately one sided.
The complaint by Malvinder is the same Malvinder who, as senior executive, made illegal loans, signed checks with Shivinder, to shell companies they set up with other family members, then made payments to those shell companies who then circulated payments among each shell in order to then claim false assets to acquire additional, larger loans to pay off real estate investment, made through leveraged loans, which failured.
Malvinder and Shivinder alone were legally responsible, as senior executives at Fortis, for all the false loans they generated from there, and their colleagues for the fraud of the shell companies.
In none of the shell companies nor the larger Healthcare corporations, nor the real estate investment companies does Gurinder have any legal authority to command, issue or sign checks.
There is substantial evidence of fraud, and poor judgment by the Singh brothers and those who were involved in the shell companies and carried legal authority to move money, make loans and manage the bills, including members of Gurinder’s immediate family.
The only attempt to tie Gurinder to all of this is the accuzation of Malvinder, a despirate executive caught in the midst of a complex scheme.
And this he did even after, as the one shred of evidence we do have directly from Gurinder proves, that Gurinder had offered to take on this entire mess and clean it up. But Malvinder Refused.
Any attempt to claim evidence, which does not currently exist, pointing to Gurinder’s active role in any of this is pure fabrication.
Now why you do this when you are now also paying a man every month knowing he is actively causing the deaths of 700,000 children and as many adults from a pure act of self-serving cruelty?
It is mind at work that purposefully ignores one’s own harm to others, right up on a grudge against someone else.
My point? Give up the grudge Brian. It does you and others harm, even if you think it grows your web clicks.

If RSSB followers have blind faith in GSD, they simply will not listen to anyone who questions him. Their Master has told them to keep their eyes, ears, and mouths closed if someone is trying to tell them anything contrary to what they believe about GSD. You can see the same behaviour during their meditation. To them, your voice will sound like shouting, and they may simply dismiss you as a fool for believing that GSD could ever do anything wrong.
When it comes to allegations involving scams, shell companies, land grabbing, support for the drug mafia, money laundering, and other wrongdoing, they will always find some justification for it because, in their eyes, GSD is always right. No amount of evidence seems to be enough to make them question that belief.
GSD also appears to have strong connections and support from the ruling party, which may make his position seem almost untouchable. Court cases or allegations of wrongdoing may not necessarily have much impact on his public image.
Ultimately, only time—and perhaps karma—will tell whether the theory of karma is really true. Personally, I sometimes wonder whether GSD himself believes in the theory of karma. If he truly did, it would be difficult to understand how he could allegedly be involved in all these things. Perhaps the concept of karma is mainly promoted to his followers to keep them obedient and unquestioning.
Let’s see what the future holds. It is still too early to make a final judgment. His partner Gill may eventually be wondering what kind of mess he has gotten himself into, although he is now a billionaire with what appears to be the backing and blessings of GSD.
He’s very typical ( rich Gurinder and Jasdeep ) of what the Illuminati think and do.

What i would point at is the simple fact that the gurus in India that were associated with this or that crime over the last 4 decades or so did not bring about the closure of their ashram or stop people to be their devotees.
If you are Indian and live there you must be aware of it.

The irony is not lost that this all began with a pharmaceutical company. Drug dealers. And I’ve known some mighty fine drug dealers in my day. Mighty fine.

It’s entirely understandable to see people imply poor judgment in believers, and to take this to the point of a long standing grudge against them which they nurture. Then gossip and inuendo become inflated to personal truth. Such is the disease of nurturing a grudge.
This fault they see in others becomes some non existent evidence for one’s own favored prejudices.
In fact the grudge helps define and justify their ego, their persona.
To believe is one thing, but to hate those who don’t believe as one does is the hallmark of bigotry. Yet it is a very common addiction.
Feeding this grudge year in and year out also calcifies that bigotry until there is no sunlight between one’s identity and what one hates. Feeding a grudge, attempting to justify a grudge is extremely unhealthy and warps thinking and personality.
Wheras accepting all things, and feeding all things in submission to God year in and year out has the opposite effect. What was hidden becomes experienced. It is a very healthy practice.
