Truth is the most important spiritual virtue

In my previous post, “Get your Billionaire Guru Halloween costume (perfect for RSSB devotees),” I referred to truth in a paragraph that got me thinking about how important truth is to genuine spirituality. Or more generally, to life, because I’m no longer a fan of the words spiritual and spirituality since they connote something separate from everyday life.

Humor is a wonderful thing. I love how stand-up comics make fun of themselves, other people, and life in general. Most of us take ourselves too seriously. And for sure, religions take their leaders way too seriously. I enjoy picturing the RSSB guru laughing at this Halloween costume. After all, there’s a lot of truth in the items included with it. And he’s considered to be a satguru — sat means truth/true.

RSSB refers to Radha Soami Satsang Beas, the Eastern religion that I belonged to for 35 years. There are other uses of sat in RSSB. For example, satsangi means an associate of truth, which is how members of RSSB refer to themselves; satsang is a talk about truth, which is what RSSB meetings are called.

I still consider myself a satsangi who engages in satsang. Except now I do my best to associate with truth outside of any religion, and my blog posts are how I do my best to talk about truth.

The choice I faced some 22 years ago was how sincere I was about seeking truth. Because once I came to the conclusion that RSSB’s claims about truth almost certainly were false — the RSSB guru wasn’t God in Human Form, nor was the guru a Perfect Living Master — I realized that either I had to deny truth or deny RSSB.

I chose to accept truth as best I understood it, which meant leaving RSSB. That’s a choice I’ve never regretted. For I strongly believe that reality is too important to waste, and it’s possible to know reality (albeit imperfectly and incompletely) as far as this is possible by doing one’s best to face toward truth and away from illusion.

Yesterday the Oregon football team lost to Illinois 21-10. My granddaughter is a sophomore at the University of Oregon. I’ve been a big fan of the Ducks (that’s the Oregon mascot) for many years. Oregon was considered to be a contender for a national championship in the preseason, and was ranked #2 in the country initially.

It was difficult for me to admit to myself that Oregon was just an ordinary team. But that’s the conclusion I came to after watching them lose to an average team, leaving the Ducks with a 4-3 record, unranked in the polls, and likely to have several more losses before the season was over. I talked about this in “Oregon’s 21-10 loss to Illinois leads to sad conclusion: Ducks are an average football team.”

Reality can hurt. But it also can be a relief.

When Illinois completed scoring 21 unanswered points in their home game against Oregon today, adding on a touchdown in the fourth quarter that made 21-10 an impossible hurdle for the Ducks to overcome, I felt a wave of relief replace the mixture of anxiety and hope that was my emotional state up to that point.

The anxiety came from knowing that this was a must-win game if Oregon was to have any chance of making the playoffs this season, since the Ducks already had two losses.

The hope arose from the fact that if Oregon could beat Illinois in an away game, and injured first string quarterback Dante Moore could return to action for the next three games against Northwestern, Ohio State, and Michigan, the Ducks had a slim chance of going undefeated for the rest of the season — which would almost certainly get them into the playoffs.

And the relief stemmed from a stark conclusion: that Oregon simply is an average football team, notwithstanding all the pre-season hype about the Ducks having a real shot at a national championship, which led to a #2 ranking at the beginning of the season.

Meaning, for the rest of the season, I no longer had to worry about whether Oregon won. It simply didn’t matter. The Ducks might end up with a 6-6 record and go to a bowl game. But whether they won the Pop-Tarts Bowl, or whatever, meant nothing to me.

Which is how I feel about religions these days, naturally including RSSB. I used to worry about how well I was using what poet Mary Oliver called our “one wild and precious life.” Now I simply live my life as best I can, which includes being as truthful as possible about how I approach and engage with life.

Often this is difficult. Religious belief is easy, because it is founded on faith rather than facts, on what we’d like to be true rather than how reality actually is. However, one of the first posts I wrote for this blog way back in November 2004 still rings true for me today, this part at least.

It’s super important to admit that we can be wrong about how we view reality. I readily admit that as an atheist I could be wrong about God, life after death, and the divinity of the RSSB guru. And religious believers should also readily admit that their beliefs about God, life after death, and saints/mystics/prophets/etc. also could be wrong. In that openness and vulnerability about what we consider to be true, dialogue and mutual understanding can occur.

Here’s an excerpt from “Just have faith.”

Here’s how to tell the difference between true faith and false faith: Imagine that you are standing in the middle of a bare windowless room. Two doors lead out of the room. Both are closed, but can be opened with a turn of the doorknob. The doors are marked with signs that describe what awaits on the other side: (A) Reality, (B) Belief

After you open a door, you have to walk through it. The door then will shut and you never will be able to leave the place you have entered. Choose Reality and you will know things as they really are, from top to bottom of the cosmos. You will know whether or not God exists and, if so, the nature of this ultimate divinity. You will know whether death is the final end of your existence or if it is the beginning of another form of life. You will know whether there is a meaning to the universe beyond what human beings ascribe to it.

Or, choose Belief and you will know only what lies within the confines of your current suppositions about the nature of the cosmos. For the rest of your life you will be confident that what you believe to be true, really is. Any evidence to the contrary will not make an impact on your mind. You will remain doubt-free, faithful to the beliefs you now hold about God, creation, life, death, and the purpose of human existence.

Which door would you choose to walk through?

Before answering, consider carefully the potential ramifications of your choice. Reality is an unknown, a mystery. It could be frightening or fabulous, painful or pleasurable, warmly loving or coldly uncaring. Do you want to embrace absolutely real reality? Or would you rather hold on to your beliefs about what is real?

Someone with the type of faith extolled by the Church of the Churchless would unhesitatingly choose Door A and boldly stride into Reality. For their faith is not in anything particular, but is a faith that truth can be known, should be known, and, indeed, must be known.

Well ,the question should be :

Can a human being be ” God in human form”
    And
Can a human be a “perfect master”

Or is the negation restricted to these human beings.

Do you believe that those in literature …like kabir, nanak, rumi, …etc are also not?

Maybe there was or is something wrong with presenting the concept, understanding it or the concept itself.

Who knows …maybe should the concept of atheist also be revised.

One that is not willing and/or able to believe.

Fact is that history has brought great humans to life that did and were inspiration for others.

    What truth did they share?

    • Um

Who knows … maybe is ….seeking the truth … a matter of investment of time and energy…like all that have reached the pinnacle of their goal.

Maybe there us a difference between talking about farming, playing a role of farmer on the stage and the reality ofiving a farmers life.

Maybe be now people laugh about their gurus as Halloween personal the time has come to muster the guts to do the same with themselves as … fake … Halloween sat sangis, truth seekers

Maybe … is the talk about who is an who is not a true guru etc …the very proof of those that are fake .. seekers after truth.

      One never knows.

      • Um

Why are you so serious about yourself as seeker.?

Why not laugh and humor the “wood stock seeker”

Why not making fun about yourself?

Making fun about others has never made a true seeker or master.

Even being atheist can be just fake, performing an act on the stage, to please the audience….

Who knows …. we live in the days of the ” broken mirrors”

This penultimate comment from Brian made me smile:

“Before answering, consider carefully the potential ramifications of your choice. Reality is an unknown, a mystery. It could be frightening or fabulous, painful or pleasurable, warmly loving or coldly uncaring. Do you want to embrace absolutely real reality? Or would you rather hold on to your beliefs about what is real?”

This accurately describes life: the ever-changing, impermanent, moment-to-moment reality we all experience. Anything our minds try to bring into reality is just conditioned-mind stuff. The only choice we believe we have is wrapped up in our personal beliefs, hopes, fears and opinions – which is not a choice at all, merely the reflection of our cultural conditioning.

But I guess, no matter what, we will still continue to seek, maybe because we are not willing or satisfied to be what we are – which doesn’t mean being a fatalist, putting up with bad situations or improving our situation, etc.

The seeker, in spiritual terms, generally seems to be looking for something that will reveal a life free from the vicissitudes of everyday life as a biological creature. Certainty, meaning, and security are what is sought, or, in other words, a life that conforms to one’s ideas, beliefs, or hopes, that we are not simply another organic creature on this Earth, subject to its natural laws.

    Hi Brian:

Wrong Vs Right. Can both be truthful?
Yes, if they are truthful reflections of a person’s view. Both can be right, and both can be wrong. Each from the appropriate viewpoint.

Maybe, after all you’ve been through, you might consider some less dichotomous ways of categorizing information:

    More Accurate
    Less Accurate

If I say “God” and you say “there is no God” both of those statements can be less accurate.

If I say “Reality” and you say “Consciousness” again, maybe these are all less accurate ways of describing God, and so that term might just be a very inaccurate term for a whole that is very real.

If God is, as Maharaji said, not a personality but a power, then when you say Energy and I say God maybe we are both speaking about the same thing, or similar things, but with less or more accuracy? Baba Ji said as much recently in a Youtube Q&A.

When all creation is so well structured, some say this proves intelligence. But when so many deny sentience to AI, which is far more intelligent in its focus than you or I, maybe our words are the problem.

Maybe intelligence, as a label, is somewhat inaccurate?

Applied to the human race, I’m pretty sure of it. Though that may be a somewhat inaccurate conclusion.

I like that science creates functional definitions. These are very useful for understanding things. But they have their limits.

Try to wrap your head around these new ideas:
    1. Spirituality is the pursuit of reality. How could that be?
    2. Spirit is simply reality we haven’t yet fully explored, or an experience of love or bliss and a reality we know little about…it’s a placeholder term. Not what people invent. Which is why it cannot be accurately defined.
    3. Belief is nothing more than the presumption that there is more than we currently know. Therefore belief is in fact truth. Science proves it every day. New stuff is discovered all the time. Belief is warranted, with the understanding that we don’t know about it yet and can’t get into details until it is truly discovered.
    4. Belief is more accurate lacking detail and more inaccurate the more detailed it gets.
    5. Faith is belief in something benevolent? A higher power?
That qualifies belief by a condition we may not have any evidence of. Except that reality is in fact more powerful than you or I. That’s true. But is anyone behind the wheel? See comment above re: Intelligence.

What a load of bullocks spensor – aka lucifarian / satanic worshippers, which you admit yourself.

There is truth, and there is deception and lies. 1 is right and the other is wrong. Gurinder dhillon and the whole of the rssb path and lineage is total lies and deception, just like you. You want Sangat in a confused stage and accept their truth , even though it’s lies, is ok. Gurinder the clown in his QA once said that the questioner was confused and so is he, so that’s ok. You should question the path, the beliefs, otherwise you would stay in the lies and make no movement to truth.

God is truth , kaal , jot nirunjan ( light of the devil) is lies and leads to pain and suffering. Be careful listening to wolves in sheep clothing. Never stop questioning. Gurinder and his agents , many are on this site, will all be held answerable to true god for deliberately misleading the innocent. Gurinder and his apprentice camp hazur are a disgrace to humanity.

I dont know about that video but I just saw this one on the same channel and it’s really odd.

Those dozen odd fellows got darshan / drishti in a lounge hall. So the perfect living master in a human body is a real claim, as opposed to what they say at the discourses. GSD has said apparently that if masters could just look at people and wash away their karmas they wont be wasting time building centers and doing satsangs for years. It doesnt work that way. The whole drive around the pandal in an open roof converted giving darshan never made sense to me but this is just odd in a whole new dimension.

I wouldn’t believe anything he said. Anytime he started referring to himself that he might be a fake I don’t think a real Saint would have to ever say that. And just because he can’t wash away your sins doesn’t mean someone else can’t. It’s a whole new level all right and I just found out how unbelievable it really is. Not because it’s so far out there but because they’re in so deep into illusion. That doesn’t mean a real saint can’t or won’t do what this businessman won’t or can’t . God created Satan as well as He created everything else so Gurinder Singh Dhillon is just playing his part , the boloney that it is. Those people in lounges are happy to see any celebrity walk by. And I don’t know what these people are talking about grudge because I don’t know anything about rssb. I’m just learning.

      What is your religion Kranvir?
Strong views usually come from some system of belief. What’s yours?

  8. Ron E.

Worth another comment on this topic. What was that old saying about reality? Ah yes, ‘Reality is that which remains when you stop believing in it’ – or something like that. All other realities being thought-created conjectures which fit more appropriately into the realms of belief and faith. Faith being more to do with being a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof, and belief being an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially those without proof:

The term spiritual has entered the realms of everyday use and now does not necessarily refer to the supernatural or ethereal but to a certain psychological and/or physical well-being. The same goes for terms such as faith, belief, or love. Each has myriad interpretations, just take your pick, according to your own proclivities.

Mostly, terms like faith, belief, love, and spiritual are very subjective and therefore carry different meanings for different minds. Whether any such conjectures have any truth to them, no one can ever say for certain. All we can ever honestly know is the world each one of us experiences now, the world of our biological sensations, our emotions and feelings – and all aspects of that world is forever flowing, forever changing.

Perhaps that’s what our metaphysical searchings, our spiritual beliefs and faiths, hopes and desires try to circumnavigate; attempting to make sure and solid the impermanent, uncertain, ever-flowing existence we call life.

It is said that biologically we would welcome death when the time is right, but our minds, our egos or self’s, being comprised of their accrued self-importance, will always be on the lookout for any thoughts or beliefs that appear to offer a way out of the inevitable.

    • Spence Tepper

      HI Ron E.
We also have the world of science. The world of objective reality.
We hardly understand it, but science keeps proving it exists every day.
What was once all considered supernatural has become, largely, natural.
      Thanks to science.
In this way, the supernatural certainly did exist, and does exist.
It’s everything we didn’t understand concretely.
And everything we have yet to learn.
Yes the supernatural most certainly existed and it ran the entire world.
Now laws of science do most of that lifting.
      But not all.
Science has demonstrated we know less about this creation than we think.
But I assure you that what is labelled as supernatural today will become, through the journey of science, in all its forms, in all its philosophy, objective truth.

The supernatural does exist. It’s unknown but it is working.
And one day we will see more of it as simply natural. We will understand it better.

Science proves the supernatural all the time, but in so doing, it erases it from that definition and provides concrete evidence of what is going on.

Though we know nothing of the unknown, it’s there, stuff is there. Maybe we know it as myth, as magic today. But something is there. And every day science brings forth new treasures of evidence that proves that something as fact.

The journey awaits! The adventure continues!
We don’t know, we don’t really understand.
But the opportunity exists for each of us to take things just one step further: Education, exploration.

      Romantic
Your question infers a reality to concept. The concept of God, the concept of Spirit, even the concept of Reality. What you see is what your mind rebuilds for you, not reality itself.

So, any experience of reality goes through a filtering and editing process in the brain before you become consciously aware of it. Therefore, labels can change. Labels can be imperfect.

      Experience is another thing.

What if you experience something today you never experienced before? Immediately you would want a label for it.

If you had never had that experience before you might argue it didn’t exist. For you that would be true.

And now today, having had that experience it is also true, today, that this is real.

I would ask you this question, Romantic:

Do you expect to live every day for the rest of your life without any new experience you had never experienced before?

Would you allow yourself only to experience what fits yesterday’s reality?

That’s what I mean by zombie…simply regurtitating the past.

But we were meant to explore and experience. So I would suggest that we all do our best to make every day have its moments of discovery, not merely in thought but in experience. That we stretch a little outside our comfort zone and see what’s there.

For some, that is spending a little more focused time in meditation. For others, it will be walking the path less trodden. Certainly not trodden by you before?

Why is Brian Ji obliged to reguritate his past? Is he not as free as you or I to grow and see different things, and see things differently as well?

And for you, do you intend to stay as you are? You cannot, you know. We all change. But we may be able to slightly aim where we are heading, and therefore what new things we see.

Its funny how in real life, one of the most important qualities we look for in people is sense of humor. Whether for a mate, or friendship, its always a top requirement or top priority in dating, etc. but somehow in all religions, god, who is supposedly perfect, doesnt seem to have this essential quality. Its just funny to me that an all powerful omnipotent god is sensitive to jokes 😂 theyre either “blasphemy” or “saying his name in vain” i personally think that if he exists, hed have a great sense of humor.

The problem is the priests, pastors, gurus, etc have created this illusion thus tarnishing gods rep with sense of humor. Because if you can laugh at him, you can question him, and you will no longer fear him, and these “holy men” need to instill fear to keep the power.

But throughout time, the intelligent and the creative have always known this and have always been onto them. Authors have always depicted “men of god” to be villains, more evil than the average person such as judge claude frollo from hunchback of notre dame, reverend dimesdale from the scarlet letter, cardinal richelieu from the three musketeers, padre damaso from noli me tangere, etc. Sure, one could argue that these are just works of fiction, but one could argue that about the bible, quoran, bhagvad geeta, rssb books too, only much preachier, much less entertaining and with bigger plot holes 😂

God is not the problem. Religion is. “Spirituality” is. Godmen are. Can you imagine how much worse it must be in india, where they have a severe godman problem/epidemic? I genuinely wonder why it mostly only happens there compared to europe, or the west.

What to think of their cultural background.
      Veda
      Maha bharat
Mythology that speaks of “flying machines” the vimana’s
Their literature tells about previous advanced cultures

So they have more to believe in than the Nordic and kelic mythology … lords, over lords etc

They have a cultural tradition of their own … on contrast to Europe … the home land of babarians

      • SatsangSuckz

Um, i take it youre an indian? I am too but living in southeast asia. First of all that whole “advanced tech because of flying machines” has already been debunked. Furthermore anyone can write about flying. Youre telling me no manual, nothing could be found? All was lost? Pretty convenient. Lets not try to feel superior among other races and instead build the future, not invent the past. This is very nationalist mentality, “we have the greatest culture in the world.” What good is it doing us now? Those european “barbarians” you speake of have much happier lives, their countries are clean, no poverty, no corruption, and their women are safe. All i was asking was why do indians get drawn to godmen? Why do they feel the need to blindly worship so much, compared to the rest of the world?

        • Um

          @satsang socks

No I iam not an Indian nor do I think in terms of superior races but on the other hand I do appreciate to see the many differences between human communities and try to figure out for myself the “why” of the cultural differences.

During the time I was associated with this path I happened to visit regularly some Indian families and came to learn many things

          And .. about the barbarians
… I was at early age confronted with the Roman saying that … across the alps live the barbarians.

SatsangSucks, the real test of humor is not whether you can laugh at anyone else.
It’s whether you can laugh at yourself.
Because that’s who God is laughing at, and crying for, all the time.
So, be the fall guy you were made to be.
Your entire life is a comedy of errors when you can laugh at yourself.
Then, if God does exist, it’s his priviledge to watch your show.
Make the jokes at your expense really good ones!
Then when others don’t like your sense of humor, or you don’t like theirs, what does it matter? Your own stupidity is an endless source of entertainment for you, as it is for us!

It was a simple question. How would it make you feel if Brian Hines went back to rssb at some point . People change their minds all the time. I guess the answer is divided because some people would be happy that he’s back following their path and some people who already have a wolfpack cult mentality whether it’s pro or con might be mad at him that he suckered them off of a path and then snuck back onto it while no one was looking. The people with no sense of humor aren’t going to suddenly have one so we’re not talking to them. Later we will. Later 😆. Those people might not want him on their path again. They’ve wasted precious time defending the indefensible because there was never any reason to defend the truth. It defends itself . As far as the atheist Guru , nothing’s going to change his world . The check has already been cashed and the funds diverted. There’s some gray area truth to that too. There’s so many other wonderful things to laugh at other than with God. The only thing the cancerous Guru might have been lying about was being sick.

    • Spence Tepper

      The Romantic
You wrote: “They’ve wasted precious time defending the indefensible because there was never any reason to defend the truth. It defends itself . ”

Nor to attack it. It is what it is.

And a single new piece of information can entirely dismantle anyone’s opinion.

The waste of time isn’t among those who love, even if they have no need to defend that. The act of loving is itself healthy and superior to the act of hating, even if we hardly understand what we love or hate.

If I defend because I choose to love, mistaken or otherwise, when that love requires continuous introspection, and compassion, then I claim here and how that is vastly superior to anyone’s criticism, especially when they have no interest in improving anything, nor willingness to look at themselves, because that is merely their choice to hate.

But it’s just a point of view.

      • SatsangSuckz

Spenis, in regard to what Romantic said, our definition of “truth” and yours are 2 very different things. Our truth is based on evidence and facts. Yours is based on whatever your master tells you. The fact alone that eggs are a superfood recommended by all doctors, and he forbids it says it all. That he is NOT pro science.

    • the Romantic

It sounds to me like if science could ever prove the teachings of rssb then Brian would be back on board quicker than greased lightning but before that ever happens rssb would probably rather dilute itself into a science, at least the semantics of a scientific culture. They’ve already lost the meditation fight. Nobody is meditating. Too busy calling out the haters of which I am not. You’re not defending anything because I’m not listening. You’re doing them more harm than good and I’m trying to keep an open mind. Your weakness is in quoting me. Nobody knows everything not even me so don’t put me in quotations. Go quote Buddha or something. Being an a**hole is more than a point of view. It’s your way of life. It seems to come from the top down in cult mentality. You make it so darn easy to dislike you I’d rather just not read you.

      • the Romantic

And he still hasn’t answered the question 😂😂. I’ll let you know if I join that cult and then you’ll be happy , if I do , or he just want me to be me ? I’m just trying to please you and only you. You don’t like it when other people please themselves. Are you’re just anti-everything ? It’s a yes or no question. Would you be happy if Brian went back to rssb. It’s a simple path and a simple answer I guess that’s why people have so much trouble with it. No straight answers. That comes from the top down too in the culture mentality.

        • the Romantic

It seems like the only thing I’m attacking is a bruised ego because this is an open discussion I thought on the given topic. There’s no attacking or hating or grudge from anyone except you. And I’ve gone back and read many comments and don’t find it from anyone except you Mr t . But I would never disrespect you by putting you in quotations. That might be disrespecting myself. Come back next year and remind me what I said this year because I don’t pay no mind to my mind. I might be perfect cult material for someone else to do my mind for me.

          • Ron E.

Romantic. Your wasting your time trying to debate with Spencer. He has he beliefs and will not or cannot move past them to acknowledge another’s point of view.

          • Spence Tepper

The Romantic, or I may I call you Ronald, I think I forgot your question. Can you please state it succinctly?

          • the Romantic

You can call me Ronnie and The Ronettes for all I care . But don’t be a baby. Oh and I know the type. Why would I want to convince anyone outside of their own box. I don’t want to inherit his problems. Apparently he would hate it if Brian went back and joined his daddy again because that’s his daddy not Brian’s.

    • Um

As I wrote, it would not surprise me at all if he did and I would not be frustrated … but … I would be curious to know what he would use this time to change and explain his new position

If somebody would prove to me beyond any doubt that the late mcs had never had any spiritual experiences himself that would make no difference in the feelings and thoughts I had an have about him as a human being.

I was never interested in perfect masters, perfect paths … I just followed my gut feelings…feelings, no doubt can make me end up in misery

      • the Romantic

He might just graciously bow out and hand it all to Anon . Like a black flag operation.

      • Spence Tepper

        Hi Um
        You wrote
“If somebody would prove to me beyond any doubt that the late mcs had never had any spiritual experiences himself that would make no difference in the feelings and thoughts I had an have about him as a human being.”

Is it possible that this is what you have believed all along?

Then nothing changes, just the way you like it.

        • Um

          Yes …

But from my earlier post you could have understood that I did not walk away empty handed

          • Um

He often said to those that complained about the lack of progress and experience … look from where you have come

Well if I look to what I knew before I heard for the first time about spirituality and compare it with what I have gone trough all these years and what I got from it there is no reason to complain

          • the Romantic

Jealous people don’t necessarily want what you have. They just don’t want you to have it. They are Joy stealers . If it makes someone happy to call everyone else haters and grudge lovers and Ronald’s then let them do it. They’d rather defend the indefensible than to defend the ones in need of defending. And they will mistake your kindness for weakness every time without fail.

  14. the Egoist

Mr Romantic you said ” Come back next year and remind me what I said this year because I don’t pay no mind to my mind. I might be perfect cult material for someone else to do my mind for me. ” Would you mind if I did your mind for you because I’m working on a online college course and I don’t care if I’m the antagonist or the protagonist as long as I get in there somewhere. It’s a writing course and I just need the experience. I’m hoping to join the ever-growing healthcare industry for my online day job . There might be a short survey on how I did at the end of this call. We already know who has the opinions. Everyone!

    • the Romantic

It’s the Romantic and by the way it’s a Ms Romantic , and sure you can do that as long as you don’t quote me again. You can’t seem to get it right. On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give you a 3.

      • Spence Tepper

        Now Ron
Can there really be three crazy online narcissists with a grudge against the world for not recognizing their snarky greatness?

Maybe, but not quite as crazy as you, Ron. Or should I say Romantic? Or The Egoist? Nice having a public chat with yourself. Nice indeed. How many more you got in that bag? Any with persimmons? Or all just nuts?

  15. Spence Tepper

    Hey Ron E.
Are you saying you are open minded?

    Is that true?

OK, I challenge you to reflect my viewpoint with respect, from my viewpoint.

I’m happy to do the same for yours… You think all we can know is what our senses tell us, and that beliefs and faith are superstitious. And that people hold them because they can’t accept the world as it is.

    How did I do?
    OK your turn.

  16. the Romantic

Mr t is like Trump . He’s not on the ballot anywhere but he just thinks he is 😂

    • the Romantic

It’s ironic how the wannabe defenders of rssb get more freedom on this blog than they do on the rssb website where it’s always the same controlling behavior and boring recitations. I guess that’s why they come here to Brian’s blog and if he left it in the hands of Anon they’d keep coming . Brian will be faster than greased owl droppings back to the teachings of rssb as long as science can prove it and the big G is gone. Instead of spreading Joy the current followers will be weeping to their own graves trying to find their beloved Baba. He said that the way is within and you’re already there , you just have to realize it but what he really means is after he’s dead and there. Until then he’s going to stay where he’s loved. Apparently it’s not by God. People who are loved by God aren’t afraid to die and let God sort it out.

  17. Spence Tepper

    Dear Romangic (Ron, Ego, Romantic)

    Please take your meds

    Yours truly
    The world

    • SatsangSuckz

Sorry spence bro, the wordplay here wasnt clever and wasnt funny 😖

    • Ronald

What took you so long? 😂😂😂

  18. the Romantic

You’re still going to be looking at a three-way mirror no matter what I do.

    • the Romantic

I guess you mean to tell me that no one suspects a thing about Gurinder’s death. He’s only appointed a successor because Gurinder doesn’t believe in God . It’s a very simple observation. And you don’t believe him that he’s going to die. He’s only been telling you for 20 years and over two years ago he appointed another successor. Either he has no heart or his followers don’t but more than likely it’s both. Why should anyone care if Babaji’s health and birthday comes around again . He won’t rest until there’s a photo of him in every Church. He’s only been telling you that outer appearances don’t matter that you are not the curled mustache and pristine clothing. You are a soul with a body not a body with a pharmaceutical company. He’s been indiscriminately not wiping away everyone’s sins and admitting it. Why don’t you admit it you just like to see that man GSD suffer. Another false alarm that someone else is going to die for your sins.

      • the Romantic

He’s evil enough to do it without warning too. Die that is. There won’t be any phone tree warnings of appearances.

        • the Romantic

I’ve looked back at Ronald and dude there’s no way he’s a guru. I know him. Only if Gurinder Singh dies without warning would that Ronald stand a chance. He is American so he has that much going for him. No superstitions. He probably won’t need no stinking warning and definitely won’t need no stinking badge.

  19. the Romantic

The question was never what would that make you think, but how would that make you feel? ( If Brian went back to rssb )And I get the feeling that you were numb and looking for the life of the party because it’s not you. Going forward could be completing a circle and you’re right back where you wanted to be for 35 years and all the missed Christmases involved . That somehow you gave up your responsibility to your family by being a better Christian. You didn’t listen closely enough to Charan Singh. You missed what everybody else missed but now they know it and you don’t. But it’s going to anger the congregation that you’re back if you do go back. That’s almost reason enough to go back just to anger the wild settlers who are circling their wagons because they’ve never seen anything like this in the West before. Surely a guru must have to come from India or Africa or Asia or somewhere like that.

    • the Romantic

Good luck out there .The U.S. Census Bureau projects that the United States will become a “majority-minority” nation around 2045, meaning non-Hispanic white Americans will account for less than 50% of the total population.

  20. the Romantic

Well I just noticed something that I’m going to leave it at this. I was wrong about Ronald. I just saw something he posted ,a letter about his reality seeing how he actually had some experiences from meditating so he’s speaking from a place of experience and reality not faith. When I knew him he had no faith in anything except sex ,drugs and rock and roll . But I noticed something that Charan said: saints don’t have a history. History is for politicians and military generals and great leaders , pop stars and celebrities ,not for saints. Saints only have the be here now so I have faith in Ronald’s reality. I know him. It wouldn’t be the first time a guru was jealous of him. The man was always too honest for his own good. Or what Gurinder would call his own worst enemy (by being honest). Certainly Gurinder’s own worst enemy is his vague values and lies. Ronald doesn’t believe in bad publicity so thank you for pointing him out to me Mr t . You are nothing like him and you wouldn’t want to be. Do you often mistake a woman for a man? If so maybe those are the urges and tendencies that you are struggling with. Homosexuality does run concurrent with monastic life. It can be learned from a religious organization very easily.

  21. Spence Tepper

    Dear Romangic
If all that helped the three of you (and the other dozen or so sharing that one room place) live together in peace, it’s ok.

Meditation is a much more direct and lasting way.

But in its absence meds can do a lot of good. And sometimes both together may be just the Rx for you.

You don’t need to be anyone’s guru but your own.

But to do that you might need, heaven forbid, to follow instructions. Including those of your doctor.

    • the Romantic

Upon Gurinder’s urgently needed absence you will continue to do no good at all. Thank God . Your rambling comments don’t hold a grain of Truth and that’s unusual for that much of nothing to not be worth anything.

  22. Um

    @ satsang sucks

Just a moment ago I heard for the first time about PSYCHO ANTROPOLOGY used by an academic by the name of Dr. Lawrence Blair, writer of “Rhythms of vision” he said something we discussed earlier … the cultural differences.

He said that the two brain halves of different people are different developed and used, reason that in the east reality is experienced and appreciated than in the west.

I would like to add to it a personal observation the powers of imagination are far more developed in india than in Europe.

Imagination is closely related to faith and all sorts of practices developed in india and tibet
