Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the RSSB guru, reportedly off the job as of April 1

Here in the United States, and in quite a few other countries, April 1 is April Fools' Day. That's when people engage in practical jokes and hoaxes, which are sometimes close to believable.

I doubt that the news of Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the guru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), an India-based religious organization that I belonged to for 35 years, giving up all of his official duties as of April 1, 2025 is a hoax.

But all I know for sure is that Osho Robbins, who comments occasionally on this blog, emailed me a link to a video that makes this claim.

The two-minute video can be watched on You Tube. I can't embed it in this post, as the person who shared the video disabled that feature. It's in Hindi, so I had You Tube translate the narration into English. It seems accurate, reflecting what Robbins said in his message (he does know Hindi). Below is my transcript of the English translation.

"Baba Ji" is a term of respect for Gurinder Singh Dhillon. VIP means Very Important Person, so VVIP is a Very Very Important Person. "Radha Swami" is a greeting used by members of RSSB. "Satsang" is a spiritual talk.

Radha Swami, Ji, today's video is something special about Baba Ji. As we know that the satsang of Baba Ji in March is going to be the last satsang. After this, Baba Ji will not do satsang. Similarly, another news has come that after March, Baba Ji will not meet any VIP and VVIP minister or any person.

After March, all the responsibilities of the RSSB department will be given to Hazur Ji Jasdeep Singh Gill Ji by Baba Ji. In the crowd of this world, the one who is closest to us is our Baba Ji, our God, our master, whose form we have settled in our minds.

But now perhaps many things are going to change. We have to live in the goodness of that God and follow his orders. It is said we do not look for the Guru, he looks for us. We do not recognize him, he recognizes us.

We meet the guru when God takes pity on us and helps us to meet him. When he draws a line on our forehead, the Guru looks at this line, accepts us as his own and adopts us. Our own efforts have no meaning.

Meeting with the Guru is only possible through Guru. We have been blessed by God, may Baba Ji's blessings continue to remain on all of us like this. Radha Swami Ji.

A couple of comments about the video.

First, it's interesting that on February 22 of this year I wrote a blog post called "Photos of Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the RSSB guru, with rich and political people." And now it appears that as of April 1, Dhillon "will not meet any VIP and VVIP minister or any person." Hey, maybe the blog post caused Dhillon to back off his fondness for spending time with wealthy, famous people.

Second, as I said in a September 2024 blog post, "Let's make sense of the strange RSSB guru succession episode," this is the first time in the history of RSSB that a guru has given up his duties to a successor while still alive. If the video is correct, Jasdeep Singh Gill, who has been the guru-in-waiting, will take off his spiritual training wheels as of April 1 and become the one and only RSSB guru.

This doesn't make any difference to me or the vast majority of other humans. But it will be a big deal to the RSSB faithful, especially those who were initiated by Gurinder Singh Dhillon and now have to figure out how to relate to Jasdeep Singh Gill.

Dear Brian , It appears that Baba has read the blog of 22nd February and this is its effect.

Power is the biggest weakness of a human being. It is very difficult to give up power. If Baba is involved in some big fraud then only he will give up power otherwise not. It is possible that he may give limited access to Jasdeep Singh.

Gurinder singh Dhillon has done a deal to hand over the dera reigns to the singh brothers as settlement of his business debts. originally it was Shivinder, which is well known. however the sangat may have difficulty accepting that someone who has done jail time can be a perfect master, so he appointed Jasdeep Gill, who is a close family member of the singhs and known to them as he worked at Ranboxy.
One thing is certain, he has not been appointed for his spiritual inner progress. He is a corporate employee and his CV reads like an application for a business position.
He has had enough training and will be able to say the right words to satisfy the sangat who are blind anyway. the guru in rssb holds a similar position to the pope – a figurehead to direct your focus.
The disciples want someone they can direct their questions to. They also want to say “I love you” and ask him to come take their soul at the time of death. Maybe the new guru will agree to take the soul, which GSD refused to take. who knows.
The sangat just need a figurehead to direct their devotion to.
none of the sikh gurus ever “retired”
it raises the question that if he was enlightened when he was acting guru, and if the enlightenment remains, then how can he “step down” from guru status, since he will still be enlightened?
and what if the new guru is not enlightened? how can he fill the position of guru if he has no inner progress?
according to sar bachan, any sant satguru must at least reach sach khand in order to be called a genuine sant satguru.
delivering a satsang or q&a is not the criteria. plenty of speakers can do that – they are not considered gurus

“But it will be a big deal to the RSSB faithful, especially those who were initiated by Gurinder Singh Dhillon and now have to figure out how to relate to Jasdeep Singh”
Given that we’re talking about an event based purely on speculation, as per usual, I think it should be “would,” not “will.”
Leaving that aside, I’m at a loss to imagine on what basis a “big deal” is in store for satsangis. After all, t’s been 14 months since RSSB announced that Gill was declared future guru, and yet no reports of a crisis of authority in RSSB circles.
Nevertheless, there’s no denying that succession can and has caused a spell of conflict in RSSB sangats. To what degree, ie, with what percentage of the sangat, is hard to say. But history tells us that some already initiated satsangis found it hard, for a time anyway, to relate to Jagat, and Charan, and Gurinder when they took the gaddi. Yet in all these succession events there was no mass exodus of disillusioned satsangis. Not even a minor exodus worth noting.
I’m hardly an RSSB insider. But the fact that it’s been 14 months and I’ve heard of no ripples reported re the Gurinder to Gill succession makes me think that predictions of dire satsangi confusion are unfounded.
We’ll see what happens April 1. But I suspect this offering is in the same league as previous Church of the Churchless bombshells:

Dear Brian, Baba Gurinder Singh retired the day he took over the Guru Gaddi.
After taking over the Guru Gaddi, Baba Ji has mostly been doing administrative work of the Dera. For example, last year he conducted a total of 53 Satsangs in India and he gave Namdan for about 100 days in which he spent a total of 80 hours in Satsang, the same number of hours in Namdan and about the same number of hours in answering questions. Which means that he spent about 240 hours or a little more in spiritual work in the year 2024. There are 8760 hours in a year and 240 hours means 10 days. It looks like Baba Ji have spent more time in tying his turban than doing spiritual work for sangat for whom he appointed as full time Guru.

It appears that Gurinder Singh Dhillon (GSD), the current head of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), has been waiting for the next appointed successor to grow his beard, done the traditional white turban (possibly as part of the sect’s spiritual image), and complete the necessary legal and financial formalities—particularly concerning the Future Service Design (FSD) retirement fund.
At the same time, reports suggest that out-of-court settlements are being negotiated in relation to the financial fraud allegations involving GSD, his wife, sons, and the Singh brothers (Malvinder and Shivinder Singh). These allegations, which surfaced prominently a few years ago, involve large-scale financial transactions, misappropriations, and fund diversions linked to corporate entities once controlled by the Singh brothers, including Religare and Fortis Healthcare. Given the high-profile nature of the case, the absence of recent court hearings over the past two to three years raises questions about whether legal proceedings have been deliberately stalled to facilitate a behind-the-scenes resolution.
One possible theory is that designating Gill (likely referring to a potential successor within RSSB) as the next Sant or Baba could be part of a broader settlement deal. If true, this would explain why legal actions against GSD and his family appear to have been put on hold. With substantial evidence allegedly available to implicate GSD in financial irregularities, an out-of-court settlement could be the most viable route for him to protect his personal and spiritual reputation. Such a move would ensure that he avoids public scrutiny and retains the RSSB leadership’s credibility in the eyes of followers.
Despite these allegations, GSD continues to command unwavering devotion from his followers. The deep-rooted faith within RSSB ensures that many remain unaware—or unwilling to acknowledge—the controversies surrounding their leader. Unfortunately, for those hoping for greater transparency or accountability, the prospects seem dim, as religious allegiance often overshadows critical examination.

Gurinder donkey dhillon is the first ever RSSB guru to have retired while alive. He cant wait to run away, of total shame and embarresment being a fraudulent, land grabing, wife murderering baba pretending to be a guru. He needs to spend some quality time spending his fraudulent billions. Mean while he has left Jasdeep in charge with a PhD from Cambridge university and business strategy works experience- excellent skills for a god in human form and spiritual master – LOL. As an aprentice he would have recived training from uncle dustbin dhillon in the art of crowd manipulation, and talking rubbish – another destraction to truth god made to decieve the brain dead sheeple. Gurinder it’s game over.

I don’t understand you Mr. Brian?. You speed negative information, most times second or third hand information about for example RSSB. In-formation that are not reality checked and where you try your very best to color w. your “expert” perspective on your own social blogg/plattform – quoting and writing about taoism this and that etc.? – ok, you did a bad shoice, you did a wrong decision , you didn’t have the tools and still don’t have the tools to see what is genuin or not, true or not and whatever you write or say are from a very limited and only, only from your limited negative perspective – you did the wrong shoice once and still make wrong shoice by blackmailing rssb and the guru. I don’t get it Mr. B ? If a man decide to quit something, He quit and walk on, yes? You seem more into these things than the followers of RSSB, wasting your time / life energy to Hunt information about RSSB? That’s not normal man? That’s some kind of sickness – negative in-formation from a man that don’t have the tools to decide, what’s genuinely true or fals from his extremely limited individual perspective. Gathering negative information and spreed it to other people. That’s not healthy man. The Taoist teachers I trained with was something else [ The eminent John Gent UK, Ken Johnson LiangYi Tai Chi / SCARS ] – Very very positive in-fluences, happy, positive, offensive mindset, never talking I’ll of anybody, 110% solution oriented human BE-ings.
Pray that you awake man – walk on.

    @Tore Sinkkonen
I don’t believe Brian was spreading negativity. On the contrary, he helped shine a light on the reality behind RSSB and Gurinder Singh Dhillon. Thanks to him, many people who were once blind followers found the courage to question and speak up.
Brian spent 35 years of his life fully dedicated to RSSB. But when he walked away and started speaking the truth, the very organization he served did everything they could to destroy his credibility. Gurinder Singh himself reportedly led efforts to silence and discredit him. If Brian had still been living in India, there’s every reason to believe he could have been arrested—or even worse. Let’s not forget the suspicious death in Dera Beas, which was conveniently downgraded to a simple “incident” with help from the police.
Gurinder Singh and his family have also been named in a massive Rs 3,500 crore financial fraud case, involving the Singh brothers and a complex web of shell companies. The Delhi High Court ordered him, his wife, and sons to repay large amounts of diverted funds. These are facts, backed by legal documents.
Beyond India, the pattern continues. At an RSSB center in the UK, a man tragically died due to health and safety negligence. Instead of accepting responsibility, RSSB under GSD tried to cover up the incident. But the UK authorities held them accountable, and RSSB was fined over £300,000 for their failure. That kind of cover-up speaks volumes about the organization’s priorities.
I was involved in RSSB for years myself before realizing how deeply it manipulates people under the guise of spirituality. All while GSD focuses more on money, influence, and PR—posing for photo ops with celebrities and politicians, often in their homes, and even using the image of his predecessor to gain legitimacy.
Thanks to Brian, many more people have stepped forward with their stories and truths. The least we can do is show respect for someone who gave 35 years to an organization, only to be vilified when he refused to be complicit in its corruption and bullying. Telling the truth isn’t negativity—it’s integrity and courage.

  15. Disciple in waiting

Will Baba Gurinder Singh give an account before his retirement of how much the Dera authority has spent on him, his family and relatives from the donation of the Sangat?
Maharaj Sawan Singh writes in his book that every disciple should donate some part of his hard earned money and this donation should be given to the Guru because the Guru knows very well where it is appropriate to spend the money of the Sangat so that the Sangat can get the right benefit of the donated money. Even today, Satsangis donate crores of rupees (Billions of Dollars) to Dera Beas on his concept that their hard earned money will be properly invested for the welfare of humanity and the Sangat. The Dera Beas Authority never gives a proper account (audit) of the money donated by the Sangat, in which there is no transparency as to where the donated money was invested or spent. If the money donated by the Sangat is spent on cars worth millions for Baba Ji, jet planes, helicopters, foreign trips with family and relatives, indiscriminate usurping of the lands of poor farmers, etc., then Baba Sawan Singh was a very clever economist Guru and as is the Guru, so are the disciples (baba gurinder singh).
Where there is untruth, there is an attempt to hide the facts, the truth shines like the sun without being hidden. Will Baba Gurinder Singh and the Dera Authority ever admit in front of the Sangat that crores of rupees of the Sangat were spent on the luxury of Baba Ji and his family? Or will Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon ever show the courage in the future to make public the income tax returns of himself and his family which he had given in a sealed cover to the Delhi High Court, so that it can be known how much money Baba Ji earned while being a spiritual guru for 24 hours without spending any hard work or time.

  16. Disciple in waiting

In a country where 40 million people live below the poverty line, in a country where 70% of the youth are unemployed, in a country where 90% of the population has never seen an airplane from close, let alone travel by air, in a country where more than 90% of the elderly die due to poverty, without treatment and without medicines, in a country where 90% of the population does not have basic amenities and giving lectures (satsang) on heaven, hell, Sachkhand, Parabrahma etc. to the people of that country and himself enjoying all the comforts and luxury of life is the real character of a spiritual saint, Santmat Baba, Guru in India. Example Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon Dera Beas And their spiritual books say that saints have a very delicate heart and they cannot see the suffering of others.

  17. Kranvir

Gurinder singh dhillon is a land mafia crook pretending to be a guru. How can this vile creature of a man be called a human being have any ounce of compassion for the poor when he siphons money out them through seva boxes. He is surrounded by luxury from fraudulent billions, and his sons are living lavishly freeloading in London mansions. Also it is highly likely he had his wife murdered and many more we don’t know of. This sex addict clown should be Locked up with his rssb brother Ram Rahim so they can spend time with like minded crooks.

  18. Disciple in waiting

Will there be any financial package for Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon from Dera Beas after his retirement, so that he can travel in expensive cars, travel abroad in private jet helicopter with his family and friends. Or will Dera Beas get rid of Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon by giving him a lump sum amount from the donations of the Sangat? Or will this Baba and his hardworking children continue to live on the donations of the Sangat, even after Baba retires? because they haven’t doing anything for living since baba installed as Guru on Dera Beas Guru gaddi.

  19. Kranvir

I suspect gurinder the donkey dhillon will continue to take the sangats money from seva donations. The sangat are blind and for some reason think this fraudster is God in human form. Although gurinder in a recent Q&A clearly says “he’s no god” and says ” you must search truth”. This says to me that he’s been a fraudster baba for over 30 years and he’s been lying all his life. The Sangat should have waken up from there trance and ask what are they wasting there lives, doing seva slavery, where they have gained nothing and the cult gains everything. I’m sure his nephew, Jasdeep, will grant him access to all of the donated, unaccounted for funds as after all he did think that this is his retirement pension for his employment. Gurinder the crook will expect it, after all he did siphoned billions from his nephew’s, and got them locked up without flinching and any remorse

  20. Jamie

I would love to talk to someone privately about all this who really knows. My family is deeply brainwashed in this cult, my grandpa is developing dementia and they are leaving ALL their money to this crooks. It’s so sad. I have been around this insanity my whole life. Jamieagostini@gmail.com

I just want to clarify that respected Gurinder Singh Dhillon has mentioned that “he is not God”. But he has given us a way to find god inside of us. Now it is upto us to figure out by experimenting for the truth inside. after all, we are responsible to find the truth of our origin.
Also I am quite surprised that Brian hines put 35 years of his life to exactly what ?

  22. manjit

“I just want to clarify that respected Gurinder Singh Dhillon has mentioned that “he is not God”
This is an old trope that has done the rounds many times over many years and for many RS gurus.
So I just want to clarify that nobody has gone to hear Gurinder say anything who hasn’t first waded their way through hundreds of books or satsangs telling us the guru is indeed God.
In fact, the satsangs and books tell us very little else other than the guru is God in human form. A Godman if you will.
So when somebody puts on a turban, calls themself Baba or Hazur, sits on the guru’s chair, initiates like a guru, blesses prashad like a guru, embeds themselves deeply into a conceptual narrative where the guru is a perfect Godman and this Godliness and perfection is then indoctrinated ad nauseum via endless repetitive satsangs and books, but then gets up on stage and says “I am not God”, they are merely playing sleight of hand trickery.
The whole thing is a theatre of the willing.
If anyone thinks the guru disciple dance is not just another dance amongst trillions of dances, not just another play with people wearing fake masks, that the guru isn’t JUST AS TRAPPED as the disciple in this dualistic dance, then they haven’t had a trans-personal mystical experience with all masks off imo. Multiplicity of Oneness, and the Oneness in Multiplicity, are very hard to describe in words.
Which reminds me of this text, when I read it a few years back I hadn’t had any interest in Eastern philosophies or metaphysics or read any books for a few years as I had lost interest in the limiting and dated conceptual frameworks and dogma inherent in most of them. I wasn’t expecting to particularly enjoy it…but it turned out to be one if not the very best Eastern text or sutra I have ever read. A sublime description of the mystical state, about as close as anyone can expect to break it down and distill it into words and concepts.
    Absolutely beautiful:

Katherine Eban’s book “Bottle of Lies”, about the Indian pharmaceutical industry, explains thoroughly Singh’s involvement in the Ranbaxy stock fraud. She is not associated with Beas in any way, but a reporter for Fortune magazine. It is well documented and well worth reading from someone who has no axe to grind with anyone associated with Beas.
