RSSB discounts

Below is another in a series of guest blog posts from Anon, an ex-RSSB initiate. RSSB stands for Radha Soami Satsang Beas, an India-based religious organization headed up by a guru that I belonged to for 35 years, which explains my interest in sharing criticisms of the faith that I also found lacking. Seva means volunteer service.

RSSB discounts

This is kind of the sister post to “RSSB hoover tactics“. I’d say this is another hoover tactic.

When I was in the process of leaving RSSB – I was told many different things from many different people. This came from a range of various RSSB people (trustees, head sevadars, lead sevadars, centre heads/leads, guru reps, longstanding charan initiate sevadars, permanent residents, co-sevadars, elders, friends, people in the community – a mix of men and women of different ages).

I would describe this as a company offering a leaving customer a huge discount or reduced rate package – the “customer retention discount”.

I was told the following:

  • Split the 2.5 hours daily meditation into half and do 2 sessions – half in the morning and half in the evening.
  • Just do half an hour meditation daily and try to work up to the full 2.5 hours.
  • You don’t need to meditate 2.5 hours daily, just do what you can.
  • 2.5 hours meditation daily is a goal, just start small with what you can do daily.
  • You can’t jump into 2.5 hours daily from nothing – just do as much as you can he will see your efforts.
  • Even if you do 10 minutes daily that’s something.
  • You just have to show up for your meditation, the important thing is that you just sit daily.
  • It’s ok if you miss a day just pick up the next day.
  • It’s ok if you miss a few days just pick up when you can.
  • It’s ok if you can’t go to overseas satsangs/trips.
  • It’s ok if you can’t do a week of total seva using your PTO/vacation.
  • It’s ok if you took a holiday and didn’t attend seva/satsang – as long as you sat in meditation and followed the vows.
  • You don’t need to go early and sit right at the front for satsang, just go on-time and sit anywhere.
  • You don’t need to go to satsang at all, just watch the satsang videos on youtube.
  • You don’t need to come to satsang every week, just go to seva every week.
  • If you can’t come to your dedicated seva post every week, join a casual seva department.
  • If you can’t make the casual seva every week that’s ok, just come when you can.
  • You can do a mix of sevas every now and again.
  • You don’t have to do seva every week, just come when you can.
  • You can go back to your dedicated seva post whenever you do come.
  • You don’t have to go to seva or satsang – the most important thing is you do your meditation.
  • You don’t have to sing shabds – you can sing any songs you like.
  • You don’t need to read all the new books – you just need to live the path.
  • You don’t need to keep and display his photo – you just need to keep RSSB in your heart.
  • You don’t need to go at all – you just need to keep your vows.
  • You can attend parties and socialise – you just don’t drink.
  • It’s ok if you drink – just don’t eat any meat.
  • It’s ok if you’re eating meat…. it’s ok, it’s fine.
  • It’s ok if you’re dating – just find someone within RSSB….And it’s ok if someone is RSSB but not initiated yet… And it’s ok if they’re only following some of the rules…
  • It’s ok if you are in a relationship/have a partner outside RSSB – you stick to your vows.
  • It’s ok if you’re not following anymore – just come to national satsang once a year.

I look back and realise this actually documents my process of leaving. (I actually think RSSB people saw me leaving before I’d actually left.) This was all very different from the mandatory RSSB path. Maybe all these people thought this might work (delusional) but what actually happened was me realising it could have been this easy all along clearly, the guilt/shaming/shout-preaching wasn’t necessary ever, and that I didn’t want to do less – I wanted to do none.

What nobody ever said (to me or anyone else leaving): It’s ok if you’ve left fully -you can always come back to it. RSSB knows once they’ve gone, they’ve gone for good. I don’t know anyone who left and ever went back.

When?

This “discount” only starts coming up once you start physically taking yourself away – e.g. going less frequently or taking big gaps (if you try to discuss verbally they’ll engage in some weird word salad spirituality loop, but this comes up once you’ve started physically removing yourself). It often comes up when they realise someone has one foot out of the door already- it’s designed to keep the other foot in so you don’t put BOTH feet outside the room, and close the door. (Over time the heavy compliance laws standards will creep back up, because that is the goal. They will aim to ensure you have two feet firmly back in the room). Their goal with the discount is just to prevent a clean break at the moment.

Why?

There’s a practical reality to this. They HAVE to enforce the heavily compliance laws first rather than just being chill from the start.

  • Free labor capital: A massive organisation requires an army of people to run seva (voluntary work) and pack out satsangs every single weekend. If they told everyone “just come when you feel like it”, the free labor pool evapoarates. The intense pressure ensures a constant reliable workforce.
  • The impossibility trap: If the goal is 2.5 hours of meditation a day every single day, most people will fail to achieve this consistently. That failure is the point. By making the standard impossibly high, the follower is trapped in a permanent state of feeling “not good enough”. A guilty striving follower is incredibly compliant and easily controlled. If the goal was just “do what you can”, you would feel accomplished, independent and secure – which means you wouldn’t need to depend on the system for validation.

The truth is – the moment they offer you that “retention discount”, they accidentally admit that the rules were flexible all along. They exposed the fact that the heavy laws weren’t divine absolute truths but they were just levers to control your behavior. If they could just wave a magic wand and lower the bar because someone’s walking away, then the initial guilt and shaming was entirely manufactured.

What it is

It is:

-Active switch from heavy pressure to soft negotiation

-Active switch from hard compliance with laws to reduced-rate rules

-Active switch from shout-preaching to a gentle softer apologetic pleading tone

-Active switch from an endless spiritual theology loop to straightforward sentences

-A calculated de-escalation tactic designed to stop you from a slow fade or clean break

-Lowering the rules to stop you leaving / avoid the loss of a spiritual asset

-A retention discount/reduced rate package to avoid the loss of a follower

-A calculated move to keep you there within the organisation at some level

-A hoovering tactic designed to keep one foot in the door when one is already out

-Micro-engagement trapping, so they can slowly pull you back to full heavy laws compliance later

-Identity anchoring, and keeping an RSSB “hold” on you even at a lighter level

-Friction reduction, offering softer promises and lower tiers of commitment against mandatory rules to make compliance feel easier than a clean break/exit.

-Goalpost shifting, to make compliance easier to ensure retention of followers

-Desperate structural panic response to your pullback

-Changing the rules because former/existing levers of control aren’t working

-De-escalation bait to ensure you stay hooked within their pool

-Soft manipulation tactic designed to exploit another person and influence their free will

What it isn’t

It is not

-Compassion

-Mercy

-An act of grace

-Accomodating your weaknesses

-Spiritual compassion for your struggles

-Tailoring things to your soul’s capacity

-Divine unconditional acceptance of you

-Concern for your spirituality/soul

Good luck out there.

For me most posts here are nit related to spirituality but how this or that person deals with it … it opens a book on who they are.

It tells also how they function in life apart from their religious preferences.

Anyway … here is an experiment to perform in order to face your self on the mirror

Set two timers and sit two periods of time according the prescriptions of thus era … 2 hours simian and half an hour bharat.

It is immaterial for the experiment what your opinions are on santmat … just promise your self to sit these two periods out … no matter what !!!!

Sit in any posture that suits you, do simian as it suits you silent, about or not at all … but do not change the way you start with …and more than anything … sit still … do not move.

Just do it once, or as long as you like … it will be an eye opening experience about yourself

It can be done even if you have struggled for years. It is like quitting smoking … that too can be done in one day…nothing special is needed

Again anon it is not about rssb etc but about you … an experiment for you about you .. about yourself.

    • Um

Just skip the many errors made by typing and the program of this phone

      All unimportant

The experiment is what matters, the timers and the amount of days you set for your self.

And … it is for free … no wages for a psychologist … not even a cup if coffee … haha

And it us not to invite you to change your mind with respect to all things you write here.

It is all about yourself and you need not to tell anybody the outcome

      Succes !

According to all of this hair splitting Anon your whole life and thoughts are still centered around rssb. Bravo ! And who needs luck when you have money.

    • Ronald Dumbest

Anon is Gurinder’s favorite kind of student. They digest thoroughly the teachings and don’t only think about them during satsang or meditation but all of the time. Never for a moment does the thought of God leave the mind.( Whether God actually exists or not is irrelevant.) Success and submission !! This is the prototype for AI. Whether God actually exists or not is irrelevant. If you can think it then anything can exist ,at least on cyberspace. Have you seen gurinder’s new project ? Piston him .

      • Ronald Dumbest

Gurinder ji is backing a car manufacturer in the Punjab. I’m sure he has stock in it and he’s got all of this slave labor actually getting paid for the seva in the plant. Everything is seva when the thought of God is present. Now there are two paths to enlightenment. One is meditation and the other is submission. For some people submission is easier. But for most people meditation is easier. Let me just point out babaji’s arrogance and submit that. I’m sure his armed guards don’t think he’s arrogant but who cares what gun owners think. Babaji and Hooserji are spending more time apart to make the sex better when they meet again.

  3. Ronald Dumbest

Those people have to be complete idiots to accept Hooserji while Gurinder is still alive . I would be shocked and amazed if Gurinder hadn’t demolished Jasdeep’s feelings by now but Jasdeep is tough. The way I cussed at him to go away but he didn’t he kept right on reasoning with me. I’m sure his reasoning is running short with Gurinder by now. I had a slight advantage because I was used to babaji’s death 20 years ago. All he’s doing now is trying to get the world used to two gurus on the same path and different sides of the world while trying clean up the mess he made. We already know he’s a criminal and a womanizing slanderer but what if I told you he was an atheist. GSD is a complete atheist. Money is his God and that’s why the book. Treasure beyond measure

The truth of astra-travel (going within) is a point of reference for me leaving RSSB. I believe that Satsangi’s do achieve astral travel, but at a tremendous price. Some are willing to pay the price. My character would not allow me to pay the price.
    1. Mediate 2.5 hours every day, 7 days per week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year till death.
    2. Believe a man with a turban on his head is GOD!
    3. Give up my ability at critical thinking, a sort of self frontal Lobotomy. Believe me,I have experienced humans who had frontal lobotomies, their facial expressions are similar to a satsangi who is having wet meditations.
    3. Buy into the absolute bullshit of the satsangi hierarchy.

All the advice or accommodation you refer to come through your own psychology, your own inability to set healthy boundaries, and the result is manipulation.

But were you manipulated or are you and Brian manipulating your own narrative?

    And for what purpose?

    To support your grudge.

Here are five dangerous physical and mental effects of holding a grudge, and some suggestions on how to let go and move on

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/when-kids-call-the-shots/202308/5-dangerous-consequences-of-a-grudge

    From the above article

“The rush to blame others hinders self-reflection and personal responsibility. Rather than process the hurt, learn from the experience, and gain emotional maturity, grudge-holders embrace victimhood, act childishly and seek payback. They forfeit growth for narrow-mindedness.”

    • Ronald Dumbest

For sure it doesn’t help to hold a grudge against a narcissist. They neither feel it nor care nor does it change their behavior. I don’t waste my time.

  7. Martin

    P.S.
    4. Having to repeat simiran 22.5 hours a day while focusing on the face of the man with a turban on his head.

    • Ronald Dumbest

You have to realize the time period and place they came up with all of that. And that’s before TV before radio or way before computer. They had little else to do on a farm and commune in a nation in turmoil. And history before that they came with the gods of Mt Olympus and the constellations of the stars at night. Now it’s just the church of latter day heretics.

  8. spence tepper

“I recently read an autobiography of a rock star who lost millions of dollars due to his dishonest manager. Years later, the rock star ran into his old manager at a party and shocked everyone by greeting him warmly and wishing him well.

” How did he overcome his resentment and demonstrate such emotional maturity and integrity? Consider the following steps toward resolving grudges and resentments:

1.Process the hurt: Grieve, cry, mourn; let all your feelings out. There are times when getting upset is the proper response: embrace it.

2.Take responsibility: Is there something you regret doing? Perhaps you were too trusting? Your decision-making may be sloppy.

    3. Learn from your mistakes: Take your time, and think about what happened. What did you learn? What will you do differently next time?

    4. Seek out support: Talk to friends, and get their input. A good friend will always be honest with you. A therapist or support group will also help.

    5. Move on: Don’t waste your time ruminating and obsessing. After you’ve gone through all the steps above, it’s time to make a big decision: Let go of what you can’t control. Put the past behind you and focus on living in the moment. You’ll feel better and may live longer too.”

  9. Ron E.

I’d reckon that Anon has gathered enough material to write a book on cults – and how to recognise one. Unlike Spencer, I don’t see the material that Anon and Brian publish here as reflecting a grudge, but rather as information for anyone having left such an organisation and letting them know they are not alone. After all, leaving a cult, even an established religion, can be quite traumatic. Conversely, maybe Spencer begrudges those who have extracted themselves from the cult’s clutches, but of course, I am only surmising, just as Spencer doesn’t really know Anon’s and Brian’s motivations.

As I’ve mentioned before, I have little to no interest in RSSB – or any other cult, religion or anyone else’s belief systems. I have no desire to follow someone else’s interpretation of the hows and whys of life and existence. I enjoy with wonder, how life presents itself to me – good or bad. To follow another’s experience and interpretation of life would be to deny or disregard my own uniqueness.

  10. spence tepper

    Hi Ron
With zero personal exposure to RSSB, for one’s own personal verification, how can anyone accept what is posted here with any objectivity? Maybe this is the real cult.

Or maybe accepting a story of human flaws is more believable than an experience of divinity?

A story of human flaws, however, might still be very flawed.

But whose flaws are they? The subject? The narrator? Or the reader?

    Sadly, all three.

Your own uniqueness evaporates when you choose sides without a balanced view of the situation, which may involve factors neither you, Brian, Anon, Um or I are aware of.

To maintain that uniqueness, we must separate our own experience from the narratives others create, and even our own narrative as being brave, bold and unique.

    These are just stories.

Getting people to believe in someone else’s grudge isn’t unique.

It’s easy. This explains many Presidential elections.

That’s how cults form. And that’s one reason grudges grow, prejudice, bigotry and hate towards others who live differently than you and I grows. Like a parasite, it happens when the mind is vulnerable.

I personally accept Brian and Anon’s experience as the absolute truth of what they understand happened to them. People inside, RSSB and outside RSSB do behave this way. I’m sure you know some of them, maybe close friends, relatives, bosses, coworkers or parents.

What I strongly implore is a different mindset, a different point of reference. And forgiveness. A view to immediately processing and moving beyond negative experience, to forgiving and letting go, and moving towards living in the now, which is incredible.

And not trying to turn reasonable anger into a hardened grudge, into a political career of hate against anyone. We each have too much homework to do to undying in anything other than brotherhood, acceptance, forgiveness, working on ourselves, and encouraging irreversible to do the same.

But it helps no one to encourage even strangers with zero exposure to others, to hate them.

There is no room for blame in the now.

Don’t you like the now, Ron?

And not the past, which is filled with stories about good guys and bad guys, but mostly, when we are honest with ourselves, examples of our past, younger and more foolish selves.

Here’s a great article about the benefits of forgiveness, from the Mayo Clinic…

    https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/in-depth/forgiveness/art-20047692

  11. spence tepper

Oops a couple of typos escaped my flawed brain!

    Should have written…

Someone said what normal person would want to be worshipped as a god. Well celebrities like Gurinder are not normal and they want the worship that us normal people find sickening . Anon just had a little taste of fame and is digging it too. Celebrities want it. I don’t.

  13. Ronald Dumbest

According to Sant Mat you never have had to have met the Master in person nor attended a meeting to be totally into it. And if you’ve met the Master in person you never have need to read a book about previous Masters. I felt embarrassed for Babaji one time when a man stood up and proclaimed that Babaji was his Savior and God. And Babaji just sat there soaking it up like a celebrity. Of course he knew I was in the audience and he gets rather self-conscious when he sees me . He’s always been like that and I’ve encountered him maybe four times. From the very start he had a guilty look on his face . But now you can see it in the photos too. He made sure to say that maybe he was a fake while I was present. Now there’s no doubt. An appointment by him means little or nothing to me so it’s definitely no longer an honor when you see that anybody can do it. It has to be God’s will.

    • Ronald Dumbest

Whether God exists or not is irrelevant when you have Willard the boy rat king

      • Ronald Dumbest

What better fun than for a narcissistic psycho killin ratfink celebrity to appoint you as their successor. Fun for them maybe.

  14. Spence Tepper

When reasonable anger, anger that is the reasonable reaction to intrusion or harm, or just a toxic situation arises, isn’t it always reasonable?

No. Anger has a shelf life, and if you keep dining upon it, over time, though it may still taste sweet, perhaps because one feels more justified, still it makes the person dining on it bitter. The anger itself, which had a purpose, which had a function for you to rebuild yourself, your environment, your relationships, and your boundaries, when indulged and nurtured just becomes a form of toxicity itself.

Everyone has a grudge, right? Just look at the YouTubers. How many clicks on their clickbait accusations and insults?

Everyone likes a good insult, of someone else, right?

    But, it’s not healthy.

When you really can’t change the circumstances at all, but continue to dine on this bitterness, this grudge, it changes you. A part of you shuts down.

And that part, sadly, is the window into spirituality.

It’s too expensive to hate, to hold grudges, but you may not realize it. Who needs their relationship to Spirit?

But we are all spirit. It is the force of life, and connected by life we are all brothers and sisters. And the views there are spectacular.

Have you ever gone to a great play, or a movie, or even driven in a wonderful new car filled with anger?

The NOW is lost to anger, however popular or enticing, or entertaining it might seem.

Stay with the NOW, not with the past.

Learn your own lessons from the past, lessons of growth of personal change.
But as you learn and change, then you let go. So you can live in the NOW.

  15. Ronald Dumbest

Last word. Angry people don’t do what I do. People with The grudge usually have violent tendencies and I don’t. I just want the last word. I’m in fantastic physical health. Absolutely perfect except for the drugs. Yeah I’ve been mod since 66. 1966 that is . In fact I don’t even want the last word I just don’t want you to have it. That’s how a narcissist is. They don’t want what you have they just don’t want you to have it. And when you’re taking now lessons about now from a narcissist you’re taking it from Babaji not me. I believe I was the first to suggest therapy for you and I see many others have come to agree but let me be the last to suggest it too. Do it now! He said blocking his ears. See you tomorrow

The 2.5 hour meditation mandate only came about in the Sawan era.

In the RSSB book Spiritual Letters, Jaimal Singh never once mentions 2.5 hours. Jaimal repeatedly stresses the need for daily meditation on the shabd, but her never assigns a time requirement.

In fact, Jaimal writes to Sawan that a few minutes of quality meditation are spiritually sufficient.

Sawan is then the guru who came up with 2.5 hours. Agra groups also require 2.5 hours, but seem to have arrived at that from the ancient Indian concept of Dasvandh (tithing 10% of your resources to the Divine).

    • Brian Ji

A key takeaway for me from the book Spiritual Letters is that it was purely a candid dialogue between a master and his successor. Jaimal Singh didn’t know it was going to be published as a book. Perhaps everything he said to Sawan Singh was meant just for him, the way he said you belong to Anami (the highest region) and that you will go with me there was exclusively meant for him. So Anami is apparently the inaccessible 8th region (the 5th and the highest for the general public being the Sach Khand or Sat Lok)? Alakh, Agam and Anami are for perfect masters I guess?

So I reckon the directive for Sawan Singh was to attend to the sound current (shabd) for a few moments if that’s all he could manage and it almost sounded like he could skip the 2 hours of Simran necessary to pull the attention to the eye center as the foundational step to reach that point of concentration where one can begin to catch the sound (shabd dhun). But it was advise meant only for him. Perhaps Sawan outlined the 2.5 hour tenet for the masses because they werent masters like he was?

Jamal Singh also said he did not want any well dug or roof constructed for him, and if Sawan was indeed so keen to do it, he’d have to stay bound to the place. Seems he and his descendents did get bound.

      • Ronald Dumbest

Charan Singh famously said that he would rather have been a devotee than a guru so yes there exists distinct differences and if you believe my conversations and relationship with Gurinder Singh Dhillon even if possibly it’s still not completely understood though true. Maybe one day science can find the God particle and prove reincarnation to the masses. I’m satisfied with the proof I’ve received.

    • Spencer Tepper

Whatever vow you took is now your vow. That’s between you and God.

How we make excuses for not meeting our promises. That’s ok if it really is temporary, as long as we make the effort and make progress towards meeting our promises.

  17. Ronald Dumbest

Yes back then we wrote letters but now it’s just mostly emails and texting but yes a few letters too . Twenty years ago Gurinder told me : ” You and I will be long gone ( in 50 years)”. He said in one text. ” I’m going to fatten you up for the kill “. Pertaining to the succession in this life. But yes to answer any question baba Gurinder Singh was baba Jamail Singh and I was Sawan. I don’t need to do much repetition. Masters reincarnate just like everyone else and got to where they are by the same methods available to everyone. Hundreds of text enough to fill two books in this life. I’m not going to wait to publish it here’s what was said…

  18. sm68

Some people on here seem to enjoy belittling Anon’s posts, but what s/he is recounting in the first part of the piece is what satsangis have told him (at least his memories of what people have said, as I appreciate eye-witness testimony can be unreliable), to try to encourage Anon to stay with RSSB. The responses show that the definition of what is ‘acceptable’ in RSSB can and does vary among initiates, so when someone says less than 2.5 hours meditation is fine, another may say, no, you should to sit for that long each day. So, Anon has given a list of how satsangis can set their own terms of what is acceptable. Similarly, what a satsangi may say may not be the same as what the guru(s) would say.

    • Spencer Tepper

People behave this way in practically every family. Everyone thinks they know the truth and want to help everyone else comply.

Anon and Brian Ji (Hines ji) are doing the same, using the same passive aggressive tactics they argue were used on them.

You are reading their narrative, their reality, with some exaggeration for flavor, not reality.

But we all read it into our own narative, too.
The problem is boundaries and locus of control. When you understand the difference between you and me you can honor it. Otherwise, if you don’t have enough confidence to stand on your own two feet everyone is imposing on you, even as you do the same to them.

Teach others all this while Gurinder +2 sons and Daughter in Laws learn how to evade paying back Billions laundered from Ranbaxy . Assist Politicians in return for arm-twisting Police/Judiciary to escape Justice . It is now ten years since Daichi Sankyo got order to pay back siphoned off Ranbaxy money but they will get nothing ,last month ,s High Court order to chase laundered money is under appeal in the Supreme Court of India.

    • Ronald Dumbest

It’s kind of sickening the way he and his son stroll to the helicopter with armed bodyguards and fly away into the clouds after telling everyone to work hard and stay honest. Stay humble. It looks like he went against Jasdeep on posing with politicians and the rich and famous again . Gurinder is such the celebrity that he just can’t help it. A man must have his vices. Maybe it’s the son that we never see in public who’s the real Mr Big behind the scenes. The real wizard of Oz lol

@ Spencer. “With zero personal exposure to RSSB, for one’s own personal verification, how can an-yone accept what is posted here with any objectivity? Maybe this is the real cult.”
It’s nothing to do with personal verification or acceptance – that’s merely an interpretation. The issue is whether Anon’s postings are helpful to those who leave a cult. Those who still want to stay in the organ-isation can ignore it. Using your latest buzz-word ‘grudge’ is your inimitable way of undermining what is posted.
As I mentioned: – “…maybe Spencer begrudges those who have extracted themselves from the cult’s clutches, but of course, I am only surmising, just as Spencer doesn’t really know Anon’s and Brian’s motivations.

@ Spencer. “Or maybe accepting a story of human flaws is more believable than an experience of divinity?”
    Irrelevant, just diversion tactics.

@ Spencer. “Your own uniqueness evaporates when you choose sides without a balanced view of the situation.”
Again, irrelevant – just a snide attempt at undermining another’s viewpoint.

And, because the subject of the present moment has been used lately in these blogs, you try to rein-terpret it on your terms.

@ Spence. “There is no room for blame in the now.” And, “The NOW is lost to anger, however popular or enticing, or entertaining it might seem.” And. “Stay with the NOW, not with the past.”

“If blame or anger or thinking of the past is what’s currently arising then that is now. Dealing with it or not, is also what is happening now.

What much of spirituality, or spiritual thinking believes is that being human, with all its various emo-tions and feelings, loves and hates is wrong and that they need to be eliminated. They arise as they do quite naturally. Realising that they may not be productive, can reprogramme the brain to behave differently when similar events occur.

    • Spence Tepper

      Hi Ron E:

      You wrote:
“Realising that they may not be productive, can reprogramme the brain to behave differently when similar events occur.”

So there is a difference between learning and rewiring. Rewiring can be very unealthy when you take as a threat something that is not a threat. That actually interrupts your cognitive ability to think logically. So reframing, and rethinking is best, for healing:

That’s what grudges are…Anger whose shelf life is long past due, and has no real purpose anymore except to stand in the way of our ability to enjoy living in the NOW.

It is important to process anger as it happens. Anger has a function. Usually it’s to remind us that we should have put on our boots before going out in the snow and slipping on the ice.

But once that purpose has been served, it is entirely unhealthy, physically and mentally, to enshrine that grudge year in and year out with name calling and accusations.

It isn’t healthy. Anon describing how people treat each other the world over adds nothing but a flag to the absence of his own healthy boundaries. Every individual he describes had no control over Anon’s ability to say “I’m sorry, no, that’s not my cup of tea.”

You don’t need to hold a grudge or go through pages and pages of accusatory remarks to learn how important setting healthy boundaries are.

When you don’t set them, it seems everyone around you has so much power over you.

But here is the miracle. Just the very first time you persistently say “I’m sorry, no.” and then see how others gradually withdraw their intrusion. It’s a miracle!

You had all the power on your own, Dorothy!

And then you can enjoy all the pleasures there are in the Land of Oz or Beas, or all of the above.

      • Spence Tepper

PS. You cannot make any progress on the inner journey without solid boundaries, too many temptations. So the thing missing in what Anon and Brian Ji repeatedly write, is what the Path will help you develop: strong, healthy, personal boundaries. Don’t run away from the lesson. Master it.

If you burn your hand on the stove, the stove had zero agency or intention. Learn your boundaries.

Paul McCartney I met through Gurinder. My first line from Sir Paul was ” I know who you are! “. ( But did he know what I did last summer ?). Paul McCartney on GSD ” I don’t care what he thinks “. GSD on what McCartney told him about me after a while. ” He said that you are a rare rare rare find”. Another quote on Sir Paul by GSD. ‘ he keeps his money in a Bible”. And one more thing he said about Sir Paul ” he’s a fun guy to hang out with if you have the time and you have the money” . Direct quotes. I never knew GSD had that much time left or that much money back when he had cancer. It changed him. And by the way you don’t need that much time or money to hang out with me.

    • Ronald Dumbest

20 years ago while talking with Paul I was more like Sergeant Tepper is now. I perceived a grudge against GSD by Sir Paul and I told him that if I was to be the next and the first guru of rssb born in the USA then Paul needed to follow me and imitate me. Not me imitate him. I had yet to learn of GSD’s true nature but Paul does that for a living. I regret not listening to him more but after the Beatles broke up John was my man. Gurinder told me ” Jerry you’re the man” ,comparing me to Jerry Garcia , an American guitarist who had vast knowledge of saints and spirituality and was an early proponent of LSD. Gurinder very much loves the counterculture of the 1960s and the pop culture of Andy Warhol. He is so struck by celebrity fame and money that we are nothing alike.

I find reading the comments far more interesting than the actual blog. Anon’s blogs are becoming somewhat tedious. But the comments !
Now I’m going to issue a challenge to you all ! (Except Brian Ji):
Seeing that we all (yes ALL, and if you disagree now is the time to say it), seeing that we are ALL seeking the truth, seeking to know exactly what this thing called life is really all about, otherwise how come we got mixed up with all this guru stuff and the endless wanting to know the inside of our heads..
So : why these pseudonyms, these false names, theses aliases ?
What are we frightened of ?
Being from England and in England where you can, and many have been, imprisoned for a Facebook comment I can understand the need for an alias.
But here on Brian’s blog, unless we are still working, what are we afraid of.
So I’m challenging you to ‘come clean’ or say ‘still working’ or whatever !
Come on Tense Pepper, are you GSD ? Come on Spence Tepper, is that you ?
Come on Ronald Dumbest, are you honestly and truly Sawan Singh re-incarnated ? What year were you born ? He died 1948 btw.

PS – I changed my email address otherwise you would see a thumbnail which is actually me.

    • Um

Well Eric, my penname is like yours part of my name.

      That settled.

From as long as I can remember, I do have that deep felt urge …. I have do something… a restless feeling. Unfortunately I never came up with an idea and the corresponding outcry . .. YES that is what I am going to do.

For decades I tried to do my duties related to the different social roles that were to be fulfilled…and … being occupied in doing so the feeling was not felt

So I wonder if what I wrote has anything to do with finding a truth … I happen to be alive in a world, that I can witness and about which many people have a lot to discuss about … for me these are just happen to be …I never had interests in the before and hereafter of being alive …beyond …what others…wanted me to pay attention to

I still have no idea what I want to do but by now I am no longer harassed by it as before… it is just a mental companion

Is this my god Eric Clapton? If so just give ol Paul a ring and ask him about Sawan then check out the song I helped him write Sawain by the Fireman

  23. Spencer Tepper

    Hi Eric
Yes, my legal name is Spence Tepper.
I’m a hospital consultant and a Satsangi for just short of 50 years. You can find me on linked in and Facebook. I’ve never used an alias on any of these.

  24. Ronald Dumbest

Paul McCartney knows my real name and everyone knows him so ask him what my name is and you can ask him what my number is too or look it up. I’m not at liberty to use my real name for professional management reasons but if what I say is true and if what Babaji told me is true then everyone will know soon enough. Patience grasshopper patience.

I sometimes read the articles in Psychology Today magazine. From an old one, Sharon K. Farber Ph.D. talks of the dangers of cults in her article ‘Cults and the Mind-Body Connection’.
Psychology Today prints many articles on cults, mainly reporting on the psychological damage often caused to adherents. The content reflects the information dispensed on the guest blogs from Anon

Here’s a short quote from the introduction
“Today, the term destructive cult is used to describe groups that use manipulative techniques and mind control to heighten suggestibility and subservience. They tend to isolate recruits from former friends and family in order to promote total dependence on the group. The aim is to advance the goals of the group’s leaders, which is to have total control over members.”
“Gaining total control of members is done by assaulting the minds of recruits, an assault meant to control their minds. The mind is located in the brain and in certain hormones and enzymes that travel through the body, affecting our senses. It is through the senses. Through seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and touching. that we know about the world. Think of the body as a giant pharmaceutical factory that manufactures powerful, mind-altering chemicals that we can release by immersing ourselves in mood-altering activities or ingesting mood-altering substances.”

I also like the reference to the mind as being an aspect of the brain and therefore being ‘altered’ by various practices.

  26. Spencer Tepper

“Once a grudge passes the six-month mark, it’s no longer just about the original offense. It has become part of how you see yourself, the other person, and perhaps even the world. The neural pathways are well-worn highways now, not fresh trails. This doesn’t mean old grudges can’t be released, but it does mean they require more deliberate work. You’re not just processing a hurt anymore. You’re rewiring patterns that have had months or years to become automatic.”

  27. Spencer Tepper

While meditation is very healthy for the brain, holding a grudge has the opposite effect, increasing cognitive decline:

“As hypothesized, greater hostility levels at baseline predicted more cognitive impairment ten years later, β = 0.08, p < .01."

  28. Spencer Tepper

When you hold a grudge it may seem that your target of anger is someone else.

You may hurl all sorts of labels at them.

But the source of your anger is yourself. This is why self-forgiveness is so important first and foremost. You are OK, buddy. You always were. Just not perfect. Like the rest of us students of Life. Living and learning.

When you really forgive yourself, you can forgive everyone. It happens naturally. Then you are living in the NOW.

When you cannot forgive, the first source of the blame is some hidden self-hatred. Solve that first. Then it’s easier to stop bullying others with labels and negative accusations over and over, year in and year out.

    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6263797/

This doesn’t mean you don’t need good boundaries. You always needed them. They make acceptance and forgiveness possible.

  29. Eric

Thank you for those replies: the brave ones, including Ronald Dumbest’s ‘professional reasons’ , no way I’m Eric Clapton he’s dead against Brexit, I’m definitely an individual, as my country should be too, not part of that woke crap.
But Ronald: your age if you don’t mind or if you do, do you fit the criteria to be a re-incarnated Sawan please, or are you just a mad satsumi who did too much simran ?

BrianJi : how do I get my picture on the thumbnail please ?

    • Ronald Dumbest

I was born in 55 but Babaji was born in 54 so he spent a bit more time in Paradise before reincarnating than I did because of his discipline I guess on Earth. Jamail died years before Sawan but Sawan didn’t get initiated until late in life. Sawan had a horseback riding accident and I had a motorcycle crash and the similarities don’t stop there because how could they. As I’ve said before I don’t need to prove anything because it doesn’t matter. Outside of rssb Sawan Singh is relatively unknown historically. It’s only the sanskaras that remains. I like it when people don’t believe me because I don’t want to argue about it. Let them have their beliefs and let me have mine. It’s all a big joke. Was my five word mantra before initiation
. I had experiences just repeating Radha swami but I never heard the sound until I got initiated officially. Maybe once for a second I heard it and didn’t know what it was. But I could imagine it after reading the books. Imagining and experiencing are two different things. Babaji is a huge Bob Dylan fan. He’ll tell you that. He told me ” you’re a helluva musician”. And coming from my Guru that was really a compliment. It’s not only probable but preferable that you outgrow your teachers.

I think when Brian takes exception at miracles, or irritation with people believing they are special, something else is going on. He doesn’t feel special.

Brian, Anom, you are special. All living things are a miracle. Find that miracle in you, the force of life itself. What could be more miraculous than that?

This whole creation is an unending, bursting shower of miracles. Every new thing we learn about the mechanics of this creation is miraculous. You are part of that!

    • sm68

Well I don’t feel special either Spencer, but I do appreciate that without the Lord’s help or grace or whatever you want to call it, my life would be a lot worse than it is.

  31. Ronald Dumbest

Paul McCartney told me up front more than he did in passing but he said. “I guess you thought I was someone that could help you in the music business.” Because he wasn’t about to do that. And he said that possibly John and George wrote songs that would be remembered more than his. He also told me ” you keep me humble”. When he kept asking me if he could do anything for me I told him what do you give a man that has everything and he replied ” exactly” ” can’t buy me Love ” . But then after that he got remarried and we quit talking except sometimes at Christmas. Gurinder made a point to tell me that Paul had chased him through the streets of New Delhi on one occasion. I guess that was before he had a helicopter. What a punk. He also told me that he had seen Paul in concert and didn’t think that much of it. There must be a grudge between those two I sensed. But maybe it was just the narcissist in him (Gurinder) talking. 😂

He also told me that he was hacking my email and reading my texting between myself and McCartney and that he was getting crow’s feet around his eyes from laughing. It might affect his angelic appearance or something I don’t know. He’s such a gay deceiver

  32. Spence Tepper

    Brian Ji:

As my friend Tommy taught me about holding a grudge decades later “Well now I’m insulted that you are still insulted.”

Baba ji puts your book front and center on the English book tables at all the big gatherings.

Whatever you thought happened is gone and only respect and love remain.
    Meet him there.

    To Ronald Dumbest

Just playing name guessing games. Could it be Eric Johnson??

    • Ronald Dumbest

Eric on here is English. Eric Johnson isn’t English. Or do you mean maybe I’m Eric Johnson ? I know Eric and he does not have Ronald Dumbest personality. He’s not near as chatty either.. not that it’s a bad guess because EJ was the first person to take me to a meeting satsang. And gave me the book With a Great Master in India. I’ve known Eric since 1968.

      • Ronald Dumbest

Plus I did more what’s my line than Eric . Gurinder called Eric Johnson a trapeze artist. He called me a poet. He also said I was a romantic. Coming from a businessman that means absolutely nothing.

        • Ronald Dumbest

Charan Singh saw his mastership as just another role to play on the stage of life. That he was more like a mascot or an idol. Gurinder took his job way too serious and figured if no one else was going to take him as serious at his job as he took himself then he may as well make a lot of money being serious at his job. He forgot who he was working for is the problem. I think he’s an awful human being and that’s the main reason he wants you to be better than him. I hope. This is just how he is and he’s not going to change because he doesn’t think he needs to. He’ll never find a better job. And I’m just supposed to be grateful he’s finally Dead , when that time comes.

          • Ronald Dumbest

My guess is that Gurinder saw Charan up close do some very human things that may be weren’t as god-like as the books say. He knew his uncle was a powerful man. Plus the stories he heard from his own mother probably didn’t help him see his uncle as a master. He just liked his uncle better than he did his own dad or mother and he was right there. But ma he had nothing to live up to and it stunted his growth physically mentally and spiritually. Talking Gurinder Singh Blues . He was nominated to carry on the business and play God. But he couldn’t do both and he failed at God. And now he’s failing at the business too 😂

  34. Ronald Dumbest

Charan Singh Maharaji said that some people took tranquilizers and pills to calm them down but he had his friend Cha-Chi to joke with him and relax with. But I couldn’t have been Gurinder’s Cha-Chi because he told me he had a lot of pills lying around. 🤣 Good riddance he said to me. ” You’re the man Jerry “

  35. Ronald Dumbest

Gurinder Singh Dhillon needs to make 12 step amends to Brian, Anon and myself for just starters. No mysterious secrets. Just take the pope mobile or the car darshan and get a crow bar to pry his lips away from his own hands and the rich people’s pockets and just do it. He owes us an apology and I haven’t heard one in years.

    • Ronald Dumbest

( crowbar) . I never tire of doing the Great Master’s work . It wouldn’t hurt to apologize for Gurinder to McCartney too. One time Gurinder did apologize he said. ” Apologies all around. ” But then another time he said ” we never apologize ” referring to the Illuminati I think. What he said that blew my mind was ” I never want to die “. But what he meant was he never wanted to grow up. Seems like he said that too. But don’t take my word for it listen to him make nonsense speeches while pointing up at an unseen source as to claim he’s a vessel. He failed at God because there’s only one God but yet there’s all these gurus up there.
